    Thank You Sir, for mentioning SDI, I've been looking for something to do in my retirement, which I can enjoy, make a little money, along with making new friends, and gunsmithing just may be it.
    My own background, I was a combat Infantryman USMC in Vietnam, and later became a Scoutsniper. I shot a high expert with the M14, in boot camp, at 100, 200, 300, 500yrd targets used it often as a sniper rifle in
    Vietnam. Actually I prefer it over the Remington 700. This was 1968, at Scoutsniper school we shot at 200, 300, 500, 600yds, with 500yrd point of aim point of impact. Of course at 2/300yds, you hold under target, at 600yds bullet is dropping, so you hold over target.
    PS, I hated the M16.

      jordan hicks I live in West Virginia. I don't hunt, but back when I did I almost NEVER had an opportunity for a shot over 100 yards. In the Appalachians, you're hunting in tight valleys with dense tree and brush cover, from hillside to hillside, I'd say the average shot on a whitetail deer here is probably 60 or so yards. .243 is an easy round to control, shoots super-flat, and won't destroy a whole lot of meat, and kills them dead as a hammer every time at the ranges we hunt at. We have no need for retaining energy over 5-600 yards' distance like you folks out west do.

Where I hunt is very heavy with brush and these big pills work good for getting through the buck thorns . The nice thing about these big boys is you can opt for a lighter projectile and stay around the same charge and pick up a fair amount of yardage . They seem to work real well .

The gun printed a three shot group all in the same hole at 50 yards about a 1/4” to the right of dead center with test target they sent me. They also sent me a few extra metal mags with it. It’s a beautiful gun. Reminds me of a lee enfield Jungle Carbine. Just like my old American Ruger replaced with this gun it prefers FTX type bullets. Any type of blunt pistol type bullets struggle to smoothly cycle in it. I see you had to work the bolt a little to get the rounds in the chamber like I do with both Ruger 450 BM models.

      @@hickok45 lol. I was referring to RUclips taking down your channel twice. Though, I admit, I’ve been living under a rock for a few years and didn’t realize the amount of new content you had uploaded, Sir. Now that I’m up to speed, I look forward to watching more of your videos! I wish you and yours good health and happiness in the new year, Sir!

      Brandon Wood .270 is legal on private. Only reason I’ve leased the past 3 years. Use that, my Henry 30-30 and a Ruger Ranch 7.62x39. State land cartridge list needs expanded.

    My son has an American ranch in 450 Bushmaster that he uses to take Yukon moose up here. The 250 Factory Hornady FlexTip penetrates surprisingly well and kills moose dead! Love the concept of this cartridge! Love your channel here in the Yukon!

    The eye relief range on a scope would have to be massive on that rail.
    Hickok: “I wouldn’t call this a pistol cartridge.”
    Magnum Research: “Hold our beer.”

    • @kennyboyswag
      @kennyboyswag 4 года назад +1

      If you look up a scout rifles heritage, it is meant to use a long eye relief scope so you can have max peripheral vision of your surroundings. Don't want anything sneaking up next to you out of the bushes while you're zeroed in on your target through the scope. Also makes the rifle incredibly well balanced and easy to carry.

    The one thing I think is missing on these commercial bolt rifles is stripper clip guides. I learned to shoot on milsurp rifles and there’s something to be said for that loading system. The clips are easy to carry, and reloading is fast once you get used to it. Thanks for showing us all the cool guns, Hickok!!

    .450 Bushmaster is awesome. It's basically a huge pistol cartridge loaded with pistol powder but with rifle energy. Loaded some 250 gr FTX's on my cheap Lee press and my buddy dropped a huge buck from 125 yards with my reload. Proud moment! Huge stopping power. Rifle was the same gun here but in OD green and scope.

    I purchased a used in the 450 Bushmaster in the AR frame which he used in Rhodesia fighting the Mau- Mau rebellion. It’s actually the modern version of the old 45-70 used by our Calvary during the Indian wars, it was a single shot but the soldiers were given the Colt SAA with the 45LC . Custer left behind the two Gatling guns which fired the 45-70 at the Little Bighorn battle and could have turned that battle.
