That could be a hell of a show... Tell Cube to put it together. Old School vs New School Epic Rap Battles ... 1988-2000, vs 2001-Present .. Here are some of the potential matches Nas vs J. Cole Rakim vs Kendrick Lamar Busta Rhymes vs Kodak Black Q Tip vs Young Thug lmfao..
That girl in the hood that tried to be hard and hang with the boys, but you always got her naked when she was alone with you. Yeah she totally got that vibe lol
Kane and Rakim are in my top 4 but I have to give Kane the edge in a battle though. Rakim has phenomenal lyrics but Kane is more of a battle rapper. I would still love to see them battle.
I respectfully disagree. If the battle was on record then there would not be a winner because all Rakim fans will pick Rakim and all Kane fans will pick Kane. However, if the battle is on stage in front of an audience, like the Apollo, then I would go with Kane. Kane is built for that more than Rakim. Rakim will drop verses that sounds good but, will take a day or two before the meaning of it hits you. Kane will drop verses that sounds good and the meaning of it will hit you right then and there. A battle that is in a crowd or auditorium environment, Kane will beat Rakim everytime. A battle on record will not determine who will win because all fans will run to their favorite rapper's corner and say that they won. In 1991, Van Silk was a promoter who was campaigning for an event that would have had a few battles. It was supposed to be LL vs Kool Moe Dee, Nicky D vs Roxanne Shante, Big daddy Kane vs Rakim and a few others. Long story short. Van Silk asked Kane to reach out to Rakim to see if he would be interested. Kane reached out to Eric B.(Rakim's dj) and relayed the message from Van Silk. Kane or Van Silk never got any word back on what Rakim wanted to do. No one really knows why Rakim did not do it. The rumors were that Russell Simmons may have spoken to Rakim and told him not to, because it could have been career ending for anyone of them. Also, rumors were that Rakim just did not want it with Kane. To be frank, no rapper or mc wanted any parts of Kane at that time. Krs one befriended Kane quickly and Krs One was in a battle with some of the members of the Juice crew. LL befriended Kane quickly and LL does not befriend just anybody. I am just glad the two did not battle. Someone would have lost and it would have been career ending for one of them. For sure. It really would have exposed a weakness in one of them which would lead to other rappers attacking that guy. The more I think about it now, I am starting to think that Russell Simmons reached out to Rakim and probably forced him not to take the battle. Russell Simmons is a businessman. He would have had to approach it that way because Rakim was making him millions. If Rakim became damaged goods because of a battle with Kane, it would not do Russell Simmons any good trying to deal with that PR nightmare in the streets. The streets are always talking and watching.
Yo that woulda been epic....its litterally like pick em fight... There songs ive heard kane on that he seems untouchable But then i hear rakim im like yeah thata the god Depends on the day...
I agree... Rakim, in music lyrically, is the greatest MC of all time. Kane would probably come off better in a freestyle diss battle. Big L would destroy THEM ALL in a freestyle diss battle. I'm not talking off-the-dome... but freestyle with writtens, punchlines, etc. Big L would slay!
I’m 95% sure Kane would win, he is more of a battle-rapper than Ra, just like KRS, Ra was always more of a deep writer who said a lot of profound stuff and innovated new ways of rhyming but he was never really a battle type of guy.
In a battle with no beat...Kane all day. Punchlines for days. Rakim is a master of riding a beat with his flow, but his lyrics can go over the head of today's crowd who have been brought up on auto tune and mediocre chants trying to pass as rhymes. Everyone can get a funny punchline, but everyone's brain ain't built for science. That's how Cas beat Dizaster.
GoodkidM.A.A.D.City even tho kane v g rap would like u said probably be better, it would never happen. Remember they are part of the same crew... if u wann see who would possibly be better between them just listen to the many songs theyve done together.
krs and rakim vs daddy kane and ll cool j vs kool g rap and nas you know what i mean rakim with krs one do a duo and diss cool j and kane plus kool g and nas that would be great
I go with Rakim he set the pace for hip hop kane come after with metaphors to add more to the game man my final thought It'll be a tie cause their both dope they should make an album together that's what I want to see produce by dj premire and Pete rock, large professor 9th wonder Black milk, madlib diamond d, alchemist, Ayatollah all the heavy hitters and make a big classic album
+PL phunkwephunk are you serious I've listen to both of them Rakim has the better lyrics I've heard big daddy kane battle anyone where behind the scenes all Rankin has to say I'm the God of rap the battle is over cause everyone knows Rankin set the pace of rap when Rankin came out wasn't no one rhyming like him then kane came out with metaphors he adding metaphors but Rankim uses metaphors to so ask yourself who the majority of rappers pay homage to it's Rakim

I like how Lyte's just like 'yeah I didn't come up battle rapping, just like 10% Dis and that was it...' just mentioning 10% Dis humbly and quietly like it was just another moment in her career... That track was one of the best disses of all time!! 'We know the cause of your bloody attitude', 'You Rakim-soundalike ... Unlike Rakim, you are a joke and...', 'You stole the beat, are you havin fun?' ... "Beat biter, dope style taker, tell it to your face you ain't nuthin but a faker"
Big Daddy Kane & Rakim are legends but battle rap is on a different level it's much more complex it's not the same as it was in the 80s 90s it would of been cool to see them battle back in the day.
Why is it that when Hip hop artist from the eighties and nineties can't change with the times or evolve lyrically as some artist from r&b and rock and roll like Prince, and Jimi hendrix that can still out perform artist of today? I don't agree their are many rappers today that would never invite Rakim or BDK on their album.....total eclipse.
But does Big Daddy Kane and Rakim have that substance like they had back in the day to go 1v1 in 2014/2015? I think that ship sailed a couple of decades ago. IJS.
Damn right...she was! And would battle..any male..rappers..back then. She..and only she..ONLY...made me too continue to listen to other female rappers. And of course...Salt&Pepa...Queen La...and..dont forget..about my..Yo-Yo...lol!! And lil Kim!!! I stop there. Lmao!!!!! Holla
Talk about how the youth of today have no respect for their elders. You mean to say in all their years alive they have nothing to talk about!? Problem is it would be difficult to pick at each other as there is little significant recent history to pull from.
I love how she sorta glosses over “Roxanne Shante is Only Good for Steady F***ing” -still one of the most brutal diss tracks of all time 😳 (But maybe because the feelings then were maybe in the moment and she isn’t proud of that in retrospect. She really is an MC with a social message. She could go hard but storytelling has always been her jam. I love her so much.
love Ra, but Kane would finish him! fatality! just like Kane himself said the battle he really wanted was krs one, I'd pay to see that one it would actually be competitive.
im going with rakim everytime. rakim like my favorite mc of all time honestly and i was never a huge fan of big daddy kane..i like "warm it up kane", " no half stepping" is dope and i aint gon lie he gained alot of points with me when he fukked madonna and did a record with big L but other then that i was never a fan like i am 4 Ra
agthaog1986 I feel the exact some way, except for the Madonna part 😂 RA is the God, the GOAT. I like Taste of Chocolate song and No Half Stepping. Big L was amazing. He was gone too soon.
I'm going with rah....what answer would Kane have for microphone fiend, run 4 cover, I ain't no joke, let the rhythm hit em, no competition, put your hands 2gether...smh
Is Ra the best? I believe so, but that don't mean he beats Kane in a battle rap... I think you also have to put KRS1 and Slick Rick in this conversation along with Mr. Marshall Matters! Top 5 best rappers to ever do it! But Lyte answers the question beautifully, I'd pay money to see it!
Why is it that when Hip hop artist from the eighties and nineties can't change with the times or evolve lyrically as some artist from r&b and rock and roll like Prince, and Jimi hendrix that can still out perform artist of today? Because hip hop is different from all other genres of music. Hip hop is the voice of the youth; the voice of what's poppin' in the streets. At a certain point in everybody's life, you evolve as an adult (hopefully) and you become domesticated, and your priorities change. You're no longer concerned with "What's hot in the hood," you're more worried about "What can I do to better my family."
rakims delivery was what made him dope.alot of shit went over people's head and in his time his style was far more complex than kanes was and overall people related to kane more because kane wasn't on that five percenter teaching.
Kane was a five percenter. Not o mention he had songs speaking on it. Also, check out Kane's Taste of Chocolate video. He's wearing a jacket with the five percent flag on it.
what? "I appear right here and scare and dare A mere musketeer that would dare to compare Put him in the rear, back there where he can't see clear Get a beer, idea or near stare, yeah" -Kane not as complex as the Wrath of Kane...(Listen to it) but gimme a Rakim song that could beat that one as fat as multis and flow......Ra is a hard methodical lyricist with clever lines like the "Take 7 emees put em in a line/Take 7 more brothers that think they can rhyme.../" Thats the most clever one I heard from him.....Fars as an attack....but Kane intimidates emcees from the door.....Kane 3-0 in a battle...thats an analysis...not just putting random opinions with no backing.......lets see what u got
yeah yeah yeah...get off the clothes @ october1972.....Jay Z got a 7 and a crescent chain....dudes had the logo carved into their hair once upon a time......Brand Nubian and a host of others are 5%ers.....Lets stick to bars, sir Kane is a beast...so is Ra....but battle wise Kane would eat Ra and Kool G rap would eat Kane.....thats a food chain folks
Rakim would win that ,I'm not saying it wouldn't be good I would definitely pay to see it or even hear it every child of the nineties would tell you rakim would win
MC Lyte is still looking good. She's not my favorite female rapper but in a battle rap with other females, my money would be on her... Unless it was with Roxanne Shante like 30+ years ago. Yeah I'm getting up there in age.
Says something about how advanced her discography is that she can just be like "Yeeah, the only diss I did was 10% Dis, and the song with Roxanne..." :O Dude, 10% Dis ANNIHILATED Antoinette, who herself was a fierce MC. 10% Dis is among the best disses ever ... 'Hot damn ho, here we go again' 'You're a, beat biter, dope style taker, tell it to yr face you ain't nuthin but a faker'
Tell me an example to listen to. I've listened to her album Who's The Boss and tho her technical skills are higher than Lyte, her overall MCing is far inferior. And that's saying something cause her overall MCing is niiiiice
+Charles Raffaele Capital A has 2 albums she dropped.listen to "lights out" "unfinished business" "here she comes" "watch the gangstress boogie" "This girl is off on her own" etc...her lyrics n delivery is still unequally matched to this day
mctraspa mctraspa Y'know, though I'm glad you're getting me listening to some of Antoinette's dope shit again... Man, MC Lyte took her to town, stuffed her and paraded her for Hip-Hop to see. MC Lyte was just more memorable, had more presence and sold the lines better. And what lines they were "Your beat, your rhyme, your timing... all crummy" "We know the cause of your bloody attitude" "Don't boast, you said you wasn't braggin... You fuckin liar, you're chasing a chuckwagon"
Aha no problem.i always though Capital A was a better artist all around n bodied lyte n her crew but Lyte had the elite behind her to push her better n fade out antionette.Lyte had nice lines but Antionette was the female Rakim she's was the the remy ma of today's Generation can only hang with the dudes n out rhyme them it sucks because she was way before her time with what she had.listen to "never get enough","shake rattle and roll","she operates around the clock"
I wouldn’t want to see Kane Battle Rakim I wouldn’t like to see one of them guys take a L And I could never pick which one I like better ones and Apple ones a orange! A battle I would like to see is Eminem vs KRS-1 that would be interesting.
Big Daddy Kane cannot stand on the same side of the street as Rakim. Big Daddy Kane already said so along time ago. He didn't want none and called Rakim begging Rakim not to give it to him.
BDK hands down and i love both but kane was a battle emcee. Rakim was and is not. Rakim didnt have to because he is Rakim. Who would b dumb enough to diss Rakim and why?
I've got it the winner of the battle is well the thing is they wont stop they would just keep going and keep going and sound like instruments not like this future
Big Daddy Kane vs Rakim would've been epic. Two of the dopest MC's ever. I love them both
You said that right...EVER! EVER! EVER!
Ill pay to see that
I would pay to see the old school rappers battle the new school rappers
The new school audience would vote on the new school emcees.....the old would lose in their eyes.....and thats that.
OG's would murda these yougins.
That could be a hell of a show... Tell Cube to put it together.
Old School vs New School Epic Rap Battles ...
1988-2000, vs 2001-Present ..
Here are some of the potential matches
Nas vs J. Cole
Rakim vs Kendrick Lamar
Busta Rhymes vs Kodak Black
Q Tip vs Young Thug
lmfao..
Stacie Jones that shit would be a no contest
What is old and what is new to you
I agree with MC Lyte, I'd pay to see that too.
I always loved MC Lyte. Even when she was in her tom boyish ways she was jus it for me. Her & Spinderella, man.
+Everyday All Day which spinderella? 1st or second?
A. R. TV I co-sign you it was always something about MC Lyte with me. Shshh she got some sexiness in this video right here!

Kane and Rakim are in my top 4 but I have to give Kane the edge in a battle though. Rakim has phenomenal lyrics but Kane is more of a battle rapper. I would still love to see them battle.
Rakim not a battle rapper, but his Lyrics are impeccable, big daddy kane is a battle rapper they're both 4th dimensional lyricist Especially Rakim
I always had a giant crush on MC Lyte when she first came out she still ranked number 1 female rapper of all time in my eyes
I said these exact words... I would pay to see that.
MC Lyte is my favorite Female Hip Hop artist. A true Legend and is still attractive.
Rak is a great lyricist but he's not a Battlerapper.. So Kane would definitely win... Anyway ... for me both are the biggest Mc's of all time
I'd go with Rakim, he's a lyrical genius
It would be a tough battle

KOOL G RAP
I would pay to see rakim vs Dana Dane?
Terry Turner I think MC shan was one who started the all battle so MC shan is the best rapper that my opinion
Terry Turner Mc shan and ll cool Jay should be up there to
Terry Turner nah

Bdk vs ra would be the biggest battle in history next to ww2
Your funny...but I like that! 😀

There songs ive heard kane on that he seems untouchable
But then i hear rakim im like yeah thata the god
Depends on the day...
Mc lyte is a legend. She had dope lyrics with dope beats.
Rakim's lyricism would "Eat up 21 So-called MC's At The Same Time." lol
thats what i aid.....but wrath of kane is vicious throughout
Lyrics of Fury...ends everything!
That would be epic!
Kane said he would have no issues with Rakim in a battle rap format. However KRS One is the one he wanted to battle against (no disrespect to Rakim)
on stage freestyle...Kane wins...on record Rakim wins.
😥
Rakim is an excellent lyricist but he is not a battle rapper, Kane wins in that area.
I would also pay money to see Kane and Rakim battle
She answered nicely
Kane all day... He's built for that. Rakim's built to make records.
agreed! krs vs kane would be better
Alonzo Darrow
Kool G Rap vs Kane is the battle!
G Rap vs Kane. Winner to take on either Pharoahe Monche, Black Thought or Rakim .
Jersey Boi- Rakim started out battle rapping. Listen to his first album.
Rakim
I’m 95% sure Kane would win, he is more of a battle-rapper than Ra, just like KRS, Ra was always more of a deep writer who said a lot of profound stuff and innovated new ways of rhyming but he was never really a battle type of guy.
I can take phrase that's rarely heard, flip it, now its a deadly word. Follow the Leader Rakim
I want to see this if it does happen. But I even more want to see Kane vs KRS-ONE.
That's how Cas beat Dizaster.

seldomsceen Kane is the best ever
Kane and Rakim would be epic! They changed the game! Bars!

That was a great answer

Rakim would win that ,I'm not saying it wouldn't be good I would definitely pay to see it or even hear it every child of the nineties would tell you rakim would win
+reesedees you a clown
Instead of saying she made a song that she was in love with a crackhead she said a guy that was in love with crack
big daddy kane cant fool with rakim on any level.
I believe ur wrong,Kane is more of a battle rapper than ra
rakim is better than the smooth operator
Someone's half-steppin'... Rakim's instrumentals never really were that great. Kane's peak was higher than Rakim. Set it off.
MC Lyte, trailblazer!
Why are people talking bout bdk and rakim battling when am sure DMX said in a clip him and bdk were battling but he was always on rakims side?? :S
Please. I wouldn't pay a dime to see them. Come on now. In 2014/2015? Maybe 1995-2000, but definitely not now.
Damn I'm still in love wit lyte!
'Hot damn ho, here we go again' 'You're a, beat biter, dope style taker, tell it to yr face you ain't nuthin but a faker'
sorry dude but Lyte lost to Antionette she flow n delivery is unmatched, antionette diss records hit harder then any of lyte disses
I'll go with big daddy kane 100%
Kool no see vs big daddy Kane. Or. Heavy D. Vs Rakim.
Draw, hands down between them
Big Daddy Kane cannot stand on the same side of the street as Rakim. Big Daddy Kane already said so along time ago. He didn't want none and called Rakim begging Rakim not to give it to him.
Nonsense
Well kane said that he will battle rakim for 500gs so there you go
Hip hop would be resurrected if those two battled. No deep personals, just explaining why they are the GOAT.
BDK hands down and i love both but kane was a battle emcee. Rakim was and is not. Rakim didnt have to because he is Rakim. Who would b dumb enough to diss Rakim and why?
Idc how big they are as artist it would be boring asf if they don't have present day bars with performance
MC Lyte vs. Big Daddy Kane in a versuz battle.
Queen of battle rapping, she's being humble kause she's made mcs retire facts
The dopest female rapper ever.
10% Diss...
Young thug vs rakim i wanna see
Rakkm.
I've got it the winner of the battle is well the thing is they wont stop they would just keep going and keep going and sound like instruments not like this future
I would love 2 see that 2
