      That could be a hell of a show... Tell Cube to put it together.
      Old School vs New School Epic Rap Battles ...
      1988-2000, vs 2001-Present ..
      Here are some of the potential matches
      Nas vs J. Cole
      Rakim vs Kendrick Lamar
      Busta Rhymes vs Kodak Black
      Q Tip vs Young Thug
      lmfao..

      It would be a tough battle

    • @davidwatson7196
      @davidwatson7196 4 года назад +3

      I respectfully disagree. If the battle was on record then there would not be a winner because all Rakim fans will pick Rakim and all Kane fans will pick Kane. However, if the battle is on stage in front of an audience, like the Apollo, then I would go with Kane.
      Kane is built for that more than Rakim. Rakim will drop verses that sounds good but, will take a day or two before the meaning of it hits you. Kane will drop verses that sounds good and the meaning of it will hit you right then and there.
      A battle that is in a crowd or auditorium environment, Kane will beat Rakim everytime. A battle on record will not determine who will win because all fans will run to their favorite rapper's corner and say that they won.
      In 1991, Van Silk was a promoter who was campaigning for an event that would have had a few battles. It was supposed to be LL vs Kool Moe Dee, Nicky D vs Roxanne Shante, Big daddy Kane vs Rakim and a few others.
      Long story short. Van Silk asked Kane to reach out to Rakim to see if he would be interested. Kane reached out to Eric B.(Rakim's dj) and relayed the message from Van Silk. Kane or Van Silk never got any word back on what Rakim wanted to do. No one really knows why Rakim did not do it.
      The rumors were that Russell Simmons may have spoken to Rakim and told him not to, because it could have been career ending for anyone of them. Also, rumors were that Rakim just did not want it with Kane. To be frank, no rapper or mc wanted any parts of Kane at that time. Krs one befriended Kane quickly and Krs One was in a battle with some of the members of the Juice crew. LL befriended Kane quickly and LL does not befriend just anybody.
      I am just glad the two did not battle. Someone would have lost and it would have been career ending for one of them. For sure. It really would have exposed a weakness in one of them which would lead to other rappers attacking that guy.
      The more I think about it now, I am starting to think that Russell Simmons reached out to Rakim and probably forced him not to take the battle. Russell Simmons is a businessman. He would have had to approach it that way because Rakim was making him millions. If Rakim became damaged goods because of a battle with Kane, it would not do Russell Simmons any good trying to deal with that PR nightmare in the streets. The streets are always talking and watching.

    In a battle with no beat...Kane all day. Punchlines for days. Rakim is a master of riding a beat with his flow, but his lyrics can go over the head of today's crowd who have been brought up on auto tune and mediocre chants trying to pass as rhymes. Everyone can get a funny punchline, but everyone's brain ain't built for science. That's how Cas beat Dizaster.

      Because hip hop is different from all other genres of music. Hip hop is the voice of the youth; the voice of what's poppin' in the streets. At a certain point in everybody's life, you evolve as an adult (hopefully) and you become domesticated, and your priorities change. You're no longer concerned with "What's hot in the hood," you're more worried about "What can I do to better my family."

    rakims delivery was what made him dope.alot of shit went over people's head and in his time his style was far more complex than kanes was and overall people related to kane more because kane wasn't on that five percenter teaching.

    • @october81972
      @october81972 8 лет назад

      Kane was a five percenter. Not o mention he had songs speaking on it. Also, check out Kane's Taste of Chocolate video. He's wearing a jacket with the five percent flag on it.

      october81972 Yeah but kane made music that everyone could relate to,rah was a little deeper.

      what?
      "I appear right here and scare and dare
      A mere musketeer that would dare to compare
      Put him in the rear, back there where he can't see clear
      Get a beer, idea or near stare, yeah" -Kane
      not as complex as the Wrath of Kane...(Listen to it) but gimme a Rakim song that could beat that one as fat as multis and flow......Ra is a hard methodical lyricist with clever lines like the "Take 7 emees put em in a line/Take 7 more brothers that think they can rhyme.../" Thats the most clever one I heard from him.....Fars as an attack....but Kane intimidates emcees from the door.....Kane 3-0 in a battle...thats an analysis...not just putting random opinions with no backing.......lets see what u got

    • @kingsaintides7227
      @kingsaintides7227 8 лет назад

      yeah yeah yeah...get off the clothes @ october1972.....Jay Z got a 7 and a crescent chain....dudes had the logo carved into their hair once upon a time......Brand Nubian and a host of others are 5%ers.....Lets stick to bars, sir Kane is a beast...so is Ra....but battle wise Kane would eat Ra and Kool G rap would eat Kane.....thats a food chain folks

    MC Lyte is still looking good. She's not my favorite female rapper but in a battle rap with other females, my money would be on her... Unless it was with Roxanne Shante like 30+ years ago. Yeah I'm getting up there in age.

    Says something about how advanced her discography is that she can just be like "Yeeah, the only diss I did was 10% Dis, and the song with Roxanne..." :O Dude, 10% Dis ANNIHILATED Antoinette, who herself was a fierce MC. 10% Dis is among the best disses ever ... 'Hot damn ho, here we go again' 'You're a, beat biter, dope style taker, tell it to yr face you ain't nuthin but a faker'

      Tell me an example to listen to. I've listened to her album Who's The Boss and tho her technical skills are higher than Lyte, her overall MCing is far inferior. And that's saying something cause her overall MCing is niiiiice

      +Charles Raffaele Capital A has 2 albums she dropped.listen to "lights out" "unfinished business" "here she comes" "watch the gangstress boogie" "This girl is off on her own" etc...her lyrics n delivery is still unequally matched to this day

    • @charlesraffaele5180
      @charlesraffaele5180 7 лет назад

      mctraspa mctraspa Y'know, though I'm glad you're getting me listening to some of Antoinette's dope shit again... Man, MC Lyte took her to town, stuffed her and paraded her for Hip-Hop to see. MC Lyte was just more memorable, had more presence and sold the lines better. And what lines they were "Your beat, your rhyme, your timing... all crummy" "We know the cause of your bloody attitude" "Don't boast, you said you wasn't braggin...
      You fuckin liar, you're chasing a chuckwagon"

    • @mctraspa1002
      @mctraspa1002 7 лет назад

      Aha no problem.i always though Capital A was a better artist all around n bodied lyte n her crew but Lyte had the elite behind her to push her better n fade out antionette.Lyte had nice lines but Antionette was the female Rakim she's was the the remy ma of today's Generation can only hang with the dudes n out rhyme them it sucks because she was way before her time with what she had.listen to "never get enough","shake rattle and roll","she operates around the clock"
