Ruby Blue is entirely masterly and this song is particular is amazing, she’s so unappreciated and it’s a crying shame! The best art is always ignored until too late.
This song and the whole "Ruby Blue" Album is an under-appreciated masterpiece.

However though, this whole who's copying who debate is getting a little tiresome. Nothing's original, it all came from somewhere or another feeding from eachother.
I mean, for eg. just because she wear's those glasses doesn't mean she copied it from someone else just in the streets let alone in the industry.
She has curly red hair doesn't mean she copied it from Tori Amos.
and i'm not saying i don't like R&B, i like some R&B artists like Janet Jackson, for example. It's just that too many people got tired of it, and i think we should go back to the 90's (musically speaking.. xD) because back then we use to have a terrific mainstream: we had the pop (Michael Jackson), electronica (Moloko, Moby, Air, even Madonna), rock (Nirvana, Guns N Roses), britpop (Oasis, Suede, Blur), we had almost everything. And those were the days...
You're right, but i think we can say this one is good, this one is bad, but comparing songs in the same genre. people shouldn't compare Rock with R&B for example, and people do those kind of comparisons... But it's undeniable that music has seen better days, i mean when you look at the current mainstream what do you see? R&B, R&B, Rap, R&B, a little bit of pop rock and... R&B. In the 80's and 90's there was way more variety and the quality of the mainstream itself was way better...

It's all about how you present yourelf in your own way. If this is the case then that means everyone in the rock music are copying eachother. Everyone in pop music are copying eachother etc.
well i don't know that much about the Kooks but the software (or website) you used to download the song doesn't know what you think of them, and since both bands do the same kind of music in terms of genre, it's obvious they will recommend it...
music is one of my passions, maybe that's why i take it seriously... :P

LOL, somewhere in 2005(or 2006) I saw this clip on TV, i was so inlove with song but i didn't know the name of song and singer (they didn't show it in the end of song) ..and i tried to remember some words from song, but that didn't worked.. all i knew that is redhaired girl on white background with some abstract things moving around, so all this years i tried to find it! And yesterday i saw in iTunes her album on white background.. i thought "could it bE???".. and then i searched here for video!
i've listened to a couple songs of Roisin's so far.. and i've not found 1 that i like yet. i just don't like techno. dance music, from the 70's (like early michael jackson stuff) yeah - some if it; some disco yes.... not techno or electronica though...
that said, i also don't like Lady Gaga's stuff either... it's just not my taste. it doesn't make me move... it gets on my nerves LMAO.
i'm only saying this b/c i'm trying to get a feel for R. Murphy's work.. oh well. guess it's not me

@fashionbug9880 They have similarities in Fashion. lady gaga is really inspired by many of the videos and photoshoots that Roisin made with Moloko and in her solo career. Specially Let me Know, The flipside, Overpowered, and you know me better. The big Bows,the long skirts,the diamond glasses, the Black diamond thingy (Pokerface = Overpowered),Some haircuts, some type of hats, the Colours. and the Facial expressions and the hand movements in Forever more and Sow into you are a few examples.

Neither Roisin or Gaga could give a damn less about these arguements, I've been performing since I was six and all that matters is bringing entertainment and conrcting to people, NOT that someone 'copies' another. @lacossanostra she has interviews saying she got the idea for her name from queen. and gaga did have her own style before she was ever famous. and you really have no idea what an artist is like until you actually meet them for yourself. its not a competition. everyone draws inspiration from somewhere, and its no one elses place to call them fake or conterfeit merely because they drawl things from others. when has gaga ever said "this is MINE i MADE this from my own ideas and had no inpiration"?

GaGa's music is heard on radios because radio only plays watered-down, commercialized bullshit music for tweens. Popularity means nothing to me in a music scene dominated by manufactured shit like Britney and Pussycat dolls, where GaGa rightfully belongs. I've heard more profound lyrics from Disney stars. @GWEN321able you can't say someone has no talent. i agree it all depends on what you think of them, and you must have justified reason behind that, but vocally, Gaga's voice is far better than Roisins. although i would say Roisin's writing style is more... hmmmm... visionary? unique. than gaga's but that doesnt mean gaga is talentless.

Roisin Murphy is like Bjork, they are both eccentric and I love it (but Roisin is more dance). This song is incredible and the video is only focused on Roisin, she doesn't give space to anything, to increase the appeal to her strange appearences. Very, very beautiful.

I love how the gaga fan says "music is not a competition", ironcically enough, gaga is right up there with today's other mainstream competeting to have the most downloads, music video views, and other pointless shit. as well as all the papparazzi on her ass all the time.

This video has some similarities the Bjork's video "Hunter". The same white CG background and the singer turns into somthing of hybrid. The transformation in Bjork is minimalistic but dynamic. In the Roisin ones is very complex, unexpected and very wierd.

I said this on another clip but Roisin's partner slash husband has styled both Roisin and Gaga... both are awesome women and talented in their own rights and musically, there's no real comparison... strong, gorgeous women in the music industry! :)
