watching again after having seen the movie now and wow, the part in 16:40 when rebecca talks about giving hints that maybe we shouldn’t trust irene’s perspective- that was amazing

It's amazing to see a woman, Rebecca Hall, who could pass as 100% white admitting that she has black ancestry. Exposing this reality and acknowledging that this is "a thing" but people just don't talk about it. Thanks Rebecca for not being scared or possibly ashamed to discuss your ethnicity 🙋🏾
It would be very shallow/ unwise of her not to. Her life gets even more interesting because of it. She gets to own, enjoy and grapple with both countries and even more cultures/ ways of being in life.
In Britain it's irrelevant. The lord of Westminster descends from a black moor. This is widely known in Britain.

@@gratefuldead3750 oh really? Because being black and British myself race is very much a prevalent issue in the country. Meghan Markel’s experience tells us that it’s not in the justice, political and legal system, but throughout the establishment.

Oscar Micheaux made films in the 20’s centered around Black women too.
