- Sean Patton becomes the first Skeptic Tank guest to ever appear via webcam to tell me about what New Orleans was like for him in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Pretty much Skeptic Tank is the only podcast where you'll hear about stuff like this in a funny podcast. Anyway, that time seemed to me to have a lot of parallels to what's going on right now. So he told me about some of the stuff that went down out there. Really great, funny conversation that helped me deal with quarantine zero percent better so don't expect any answers.

I love that Ari is unfazed. Everybody is entitled to their perspective, but I find myself looking for comedians who are staying connected and positive not screaming with alarmism every day (again it’s everybody’s crisis, so don’t let me stop you from screaming if you need to do to it).
I’m in a low income area of USA surrounded by people who are considering lives of crime (Cuz there’s no unemployment benefits for low income jobs where people get screwed). I’m surviving and have income. But sometimes, It’s too much. I need a break from it today.

Yeah, Ari said he's gonna try to stay away from even talking about the current news as much as possible. I'm sure he'll do a little "how have you been staying busy and isn't this crazy" up front but for the most part, he said he wants to get people's minds off this stuff instead of reminding them.

Perfect podcasts at a distance:
Have the video chat open, so you can see each other. Make an actual phone call, so you can speak to each other. Record sperate audio at each location, so you can sync them.
Why isn't anyone doing this?
It might just be a bit much to depend on someone else to record their own audio and then get it to whoever is recording the podcast.

P.S. Also, I've had the same thought about human motivated actions that are retroactively justified by "because God said to..." I remember hearing about why Jews don't eat pork, and the story with the "possessed" pigs; I learned about that about the same time as mad cow disease was first hitting, and I remember thinking that maybe Jewish people fed pigs to pigs, and they developed a similar disease, and people who ate the pork started getting sick. They looked around saw pigs acting weird and people getting sick, and said "pigs are possessed; God told us to stop eating pigs", and it became a religious custom. Whereas, to my mind, it isn't God telling us not to eat pigs, so much as nature telling us not to turn those pigs into cannibals by feeding them other pigs... nature tends to punish cannibalism with disease. I see similar logic nowadays where people are rightfully disgusted by factory farming, so their solution is to just not eat meat, but to me, it is just an argument to give the animals a decent life before we turn them into meat. It doesn't make sense to me; if you were dousing meat in gasoline to cook it, and it made you sick, the lesson isn't to not eat meat, it would be to stop dousing it in gasoline. Anyway, yeah the "taking the gold for God" thing made me think of how much religious leaders have to justify away whatever phenomenon is making people doubtful.
Do yourself a favor & start taking fish oil supplements for your memory. You may have been using something that helped with inflammation before & fish oil is a good over the counter option

Yeah it's new, he records them anywhere between a few days to a few weeks ahead of time depending on how their schedules line up.
