Oh my goodness, if you thought House of Salt and Sorrows was scary, I cannot wait to see you tackle Stephen King. There's also a scene in Home Before Dark that made my skin crawl! And I don't scare easily lol. Hope we get some reading blogs *insert evil laugh* But seriously I hope you enjoy all the books!
King is too wordy, great movies , yes, but to read, too much information that is NOT NEEDED. I would live to be able to read King but I just can’t. Too many books, too little time so can’t waste it unnecessary descriptions etc
Thank you so much for this video, I finally completed my autum reading list: - A Deathly Education - Ninth House - The Atlas Six - November 9 - Coraline - The Invisible Life Of Addie LaRue - The Secret History - Mexican Gothic
This October I decided to read 'Rules for Vanishing' and 'If We Were Villains' after watching this video. Rules for Vanishing : WHAT A BOOK. Had me completely dragged in from the start and I loved the pacing. Although there wasn't much said about the characters I felt I knew them really well and I actually enjoyed the 'Media Extract' style much more than I though I would. Loved it so much that I finished it within 24 hours of starting it, and I don't do that often! If We Were Villains : My first Dark Academia book and maybe the genre is just not for me. I just felt very underwhelmed ending the story about where I thought it was going without having learnt much more. I thought it was a shame because I really enjoyed the writing style. I'd like to give Dark Academia another go as I feel I should love it, but maybe this just wasn't the start I needed.
i don't need to read Catherine house to dig into 'four years without any interaction with the outside world but success afterwards', i got my own uni experience every day for this
Yes, give me all the spooky books. I’m reading Frankenstein, Dracula, The Year of the Witching, The Good House, The Liar’s Girl, House of Leaves, The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires, The Deep, The Whisper Man and some other thrillers this month. Love your graphics & thanks for the recommendations.
Hi🥰 I know it's Summer lol but are you going do more videos like this? I am a atmospheric autumn girly🖤. Do you have any book recommendations that are not popular on tiktok? Really want build my tbr for the fall.
"The Shining is just about a family that goes to stay in a hotel and the hotel is like abandoned for the winter season, and I'm pretty sure that the main dad, I think starts to hallucinate and lose his mind, and we just kind of see everything unravel from there." Goodness gracious that's putting it lightly (as well as succinctly)! If you've never read this one before, buckle up! It's a doozy!
This is so awesome. I'm reading echoes among the stones, a 70s horror called harvest home, the picture of dorian grey, maybe kill creek, and a couple of edgar cantero books. I heard the revised edited version of frankenstein is way different from the original 1818 text and the original is better so that is the one I'm reading!! Happy spooky season 👻
I just finished Rebecca yesterday. I’m starting Dracula next. I also have an Edgar Allan Poe graphic novel, The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein, Practical Magic and some Agatha Christie on my TBR for the month. 🤞🏻
The ones who died along the road (trina,Anthony,Jeremy,Vanessa) did they also come back? Cuz Mel, Kyle,Sara and becca came back cuz they crossed the gate but did they others come back or no?
I am currently reading...a lot of books but right now I am focusing on The Wicked Deep and an anthology I am rereading called Slasher Girls and Monster Boys. This anthology is YA horror and thriller short stories, and the story I am up to is about a girl who isn't ready to die and decides to play a game with death to determine her fate.
So I’ve seen Dr Jykle and Mr Hyde twice on Broadway. And David Hasselhoff did a one time show in NYC that was put out on CD. I know the story I can relight it. The book by Robert Lewis sounds great thank you. And The Turn of the Key, my maiden name is Rowen. Very cool . Looking forward to adding these to my TBR 🥰
if you realy love dracula there is actually a vampire story that was written befor. it's a really short book (100 pages or so) called carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu and it's about a lesbian vampire. stoker's dracula was actually supposed to be set in austria as well (which he edited in a later draft), because the shortstory of le fanu had such an impact on him. he only kept a few names the same like the famous reinfeld-family.
Love your videos very much. I watch them over and over again... they are done so good. Very lovely and entertaining vlogs as well. ;) greetings from Austria
I can’t wait to see what you think of Night Film & Home Before Dark. I enjoyed them both! Home Before Dark scared me. Be careful reading that one at night. 🙊😂😂 One of my book clubs is reading If We Were Villains this month & I want to read The Secret History. I didn’t plan it this way, but I think my spooky October might be more in the vein of dark academia...which is fine by me! :) Well, I hope you enjoy your October reads! 👻🎃✨ Love you! 🥰💕💕 Happy Reading! 🤓📚✨
I LOVED both Horrid and Rules for Vanishing!!! If We Were Villains is one of my all-time favorites! Black Chalk by Christopher Yates is on my TBR for this month. I've heard from several people that it's their favorite dark academia novel so I am excited about that!!! You have some really great recommendations here!!!🎃🕸️🦇👻
Hi Lexi, just wanted to say thanks for all the awesome recommendations. I have found so many books that I love, all from these great videos. You videos are so cozy and welcoming and I get excited for every single one. I am too excited for the 24 hour read-a-thon. Can't wait. :3
I just purchased a three set of Neil Gaiman's books that were also illustrated by Chris Riddell. You kept talking about the Graveyard and I finally bit the bullet, especially when such delicious linework is involved! Can't wait to sit and binge read!
I love your recommendations, your videos and your graphics! I have quite a few books on my Kindle I want to read this month. I want to read the first book Kill River in the Kill River series. I also want to read some books that are available on Kindle Unlimited. They are Dinner Party Massacre by Aleister Davidson, Dark Ride by Iain Rob Wright, and KrackerJack 1 & 2 by Matthew Cash. I have also ordered a couple of books from Amazon that I might read. One is Five Total Strangers by Natalie D. Richards and Good Girls Die First by Kathryn FoxField. The ones for the Kindle are horror and I think the ones I am buying from Amazon are thrillers. Happy Reading!
Lexi!!!! Your book recommendations Videos are so Fun!!!! I get totally comfortable and one of your favorite words “cozy” to watch your videos... I have never read anything by Libba Bray but I think I will 🥰 thank you Lexi
I love these spooky and fall recommendations! I'm really interested in "Catherine House" because I keep seeing it online everywhere. And I want to know if I like it or not. Maybe I should buy it soon then
I want to see a reading vlog on The Shining! I am such a scaredy cat but this book made me LOVE horror! I just read in the day time and put on Disney music 😂
I'm reading City of Ghosts, thanks to you, Lexi, LOL. So far I like it. It's just spooky enough to get me a little scared, but not so scary to make me never want to finish reading it. 😄. I'll try to check out one of the books from this video at some point.
hi! Yes I just updated my description with a link to the Frankenstein book in that collection, and if you scroll down that page has all of the other books in the series! Hope that helps!
You don't have the link to the _Rebecca_ Netflix series trailer in your description like you said. Also, _Dr. Jekyll_ is an old movie with Spencer Tracy, for anyone interested in seeing the movie version.
You might want to check out Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu. It is a novella that came out before Dracula. There's a webseries here on RUclips too that's I think based on an updated retelling of Carmilla. I'm hoping to finally finish The Diviners series. I definitely want to read some spooky books this season.
When I was 11 I read Dracula and let me tell you it fricked me up! I did not touch dark books for a long time but now i'm getting back into the genre so thank you for these recs!
I never read it, but one of my friends watched the movie when I was a kid, and told me about it and it scared the crap out of me. LOL. Luckily, I got over that fear and I've been a vampire lover for over 20yrs.
Lexi, you should try The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White! It's a retelling Frankenstein by Mary Shelley from the perspective of Victor's fiance, and it's so dark academia in places and so gothic and so fun! I just know that you would love it :D
If you manage to read Frankenstein, you might enjoy following that at some point with a YA book set all in poetry form called Mary's Monster: Love, Madness, and How Mary Shelley Created Frankenstein by Lita Judge. I just finished it and really enjoyed it.
I would love to see a challenge where you get a friend to pick and wrap a few books for you where you can’t see the cover, title page, or spine and you read those books. That way you have absolutely no preconceived notions of the book.
Hi!!! New subscriber here catching up on your videos. If you like vampire stories, you might like The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. A little slow at the beginning but I’m so in love with it every time I re-read it. :)
I did dnf this book because of the icky parts. Lol it definitely was a vibe though...I liked that part of it.. maybe one day I will pick the audiobook back up
The video was great but I am not sure if I will be able to read any of these because I am a total Scaredy Cat! I get scared so easily! I got scared reading the League of Beastly Dreadfuls and that is a middle grade series! Maybe I will read Neverworld Wake because it sounds really interesting but I am not sure.
I'm back for I hope 5 more videos. My thing is at 3 so I have 2 hours to kill. LOL I need to watch these are a higher speed because I wanna get to 150. LOL I may end up reading tomorrow during the time that I wait to leave instead of watching videos so I'm taking advantage of the time I have today for videos.
I had never heard of dark academia and was assuming it was just some literary genre I wasn't aware of, but I googled it and apparently it's an "internet aesthetic"? Lol wtf
I love the little ghost in the transitions 👻
thank you!!👻👻👻

I have been wanting to pick up Catherine House. It sounds like a really cool book.
Yes, give me all the spooky books. You are literally celebrating Halloween so well..lol..so early.. loved your cup
I just read Rules for Vanishing... WOW!! I loved it. It’s definitely perfect for this time of year
I have a question abt the book, can u plz answer it for me?
The ones who died along the road (trina,Anthony,Jeremy,Vanessa) did they also come back? Cuz Mel, Kyle,Sara and becca came back cuz they crossed the gate but did they others come back or no?
That mug lowkey makes me think of Pooh's honeypot and honestly that is adorable despite not being remotely creepy XD
I am currently reading...a lot of books but right now I am focusing on The Wicked Deep and an anthology I am rereading called Slasher Girls and Monster Boys. oooo I've seen that anthology it looks so good!
Gemma: A morally ambiguous teenage girl with magic powers, or a comfy doggie doughnut!
hahaha love this!!
everytime i watch your videos i always feel calm and want to drink coffee
So I’ve seen Dr Jykle and Mr Hyde twice on Broadway. And David Hasselhoff did a one time show in NYC that was put out on CD. I know the story I can relight it. Have you read _Christine_ by Stephen King?
LOL that cup you're holding.
You sold me on Neverworld Wake - which says a lot because I don't like YA! Great suggestions!

Carmilla is actually the vampire story that started it all. Short and relatively easy to read!
You are my favorite booktuber. Love your book picks!!
I love these spooky and fall recommendations! I'm really interested in "Catherine House" because I keep seeing it online everywhere. And I want to know if I like it or not. Maybe I should buy it soon then
I thought it was good! Different from what I normally read I gave it between a 3.5/4 star!!
Excellent review… New subscriber… I have a lot of these books on my TBR and you have inspired me!
oh yay!! Welcome!!
Isn't Rebecca "just" going to be a movie on Netflix - not a tv show? Not that that makes me any less excited :-)
I want to see a reading vlog on The Shining! I am such a scaredy cat but this book made me LOVE horror! I just read in the day time and put on Disney music 😂
I loved Mexican Gothic. It gave me the weirdest nightmares but it was so good. I loved the writing!
I love scary books .i bought some of the books you said add loved every one of them
I picked up If We Were Villians because I saw you reading it. I will be reading it this month!
omg I hope you like it!!
I'm reading City of Ghosts, thanks to you, Lexi, LOL. So far I like it. It's just spooky enough to get me a little scared, but not so scary to make me never want to finish reading it. 😄. I'll try to check out one of the books from this video at some point.
YESS love a good spooky book recommendations videoooo
Loved the recommendations
Can you post a link for those beautiful Penguin editions, please? Thanks in advance, love your channel! You're living my best life lol!
hi! Yes I just updated my description with a link to the Frankenstein book in that collection, and if you scroll down that page has all of the other books in the series! Hope that helps!
Thank you!
You don't have the link to the _Rebecca_ Netflix series trailer in your description like you said. Also, _Dr. Jekyll_ is an old movie with Spencer Tracy, for anyone interested in seeing the movie version.
What edition of Rebecca did you show us in this video? It's so pretty.
I’m very excited for Lily James in Rebecca!! I think she’ll do rly good
You might want to check out Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu. It is a novella that came out before Dracula. There's a webseries here on RUclips too that's I think based on an updated retelling of Carmilla. I'm hoping to finally finish The Diviners series. What edition are those classics? So lovely!
I am a wimp and usually don't do scary (although I loved House of Salt and Sorrows) but am thinking about Home Before Dard as it sounds intriguing.
_Home Before _*_Dark_* is even better.
yay my like make 1k!!!! I always get excited when my number like creates a round number
If you manage to read Frankenstein, you might enjoy following that at some point with a YA book set all in poetry form called Mary's Monster: Love, Madness, and How Mary Shelley Created Frankenstein by Lita Judge. I just finished it and really enjoyed it.
And the art work is wonderful.
oooo that sounds amazing. I'll add it to my Goodreads right away thank you!!
i love your channel and vibe
Rebecca is remarkable. See the old movie because the characters were so well cast. I read the book, also.
I would love to see a challenge where you get a friend to pick and wrap a few books for you where you can’t see the cover, title page, or spine and you read those books. That way you have absolutely no preconceived notions of the book.
omg LOVE this idea!
Alexandra Roselyn I cant believe you saw my suggestion! I’m fangirling right now!🤩
Hi!!! New subscriber here catching up on your videos. If you like vampire stories, you might like The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. A little slow at the beginning but I’m so in love with it every time I re-read it. :)

"Our main protagonist"
I really wanna read house of salts and sorrows as I love horror and creeps but I am not that into fairly tale retellings.Should I still try it?
Soumili Sarkar I think you would still enjoy it. I really liked it.
@@teresarollen7425 really?then I would try it😌

You should read poison by Chris wooding it’s a perfect October read 😊😊
Have you read let the right one in. That is the creepiest vampire book ever written.
There are two movies made from it, one Swedish, one American. Watch the American one, _Let Me In._ It's _amazing!_
Home before dark and lock every door are good. I didn't care so much about his previous 2 books.
I love A Great and Terrible Beauty series

I had never heard of dark academia and was assuming it was just some literary genre I wasn't aware of, but I googled it and apparently it's an "internet aesthetic"? Lol wtf
Whoops, accidentally just went to Book Depository and about all of the pretty editions lololol
While Rebecca is a gothic story, it’s not a ghost story...
