If you could do a version on older The Weeknd albums, like Kiss Land and his first three mixtapes, that'd be fire

I wish he someday do it, because that’s just what og xo fans that are producers are looking for and not focusing mainly in house of balloons or the singles of the mixtapes or kiss land, but each every album/mixtape, each every song of them

Love the way your mind works and how you explained your interpretations of the nuances throughout this record.

The weeknd is one of the best singers in the world. I like the fact that his music is different than any other artist. He uses different styles of music. That's what makes The weeknd different from any other artist.

could you do a video on how to mix vocals like the band Black Country, New Road? their vocals sound so simple and dry but also fit into their songs so perfectly.

This is the question...these guys outstand out of the crew because of the quality of sound....is just perfect

Good question about how one amalgamates more than one genre together. This is how one develops their own unique style; otherwise you'll simply sound like someone else out there that the world already knows. To me, it's pop, rock and the chord complexity sometimes goes into the jazz field too. However, I love R'nB too, and this adds to the flavor of things.

That sounds like a super cool combination. If you have a link, feel free to drop it because I’d love to hear it in action!

I’d be interested in what you think abt some of his songs beyond the radio hits.. he def has a unique old style in trilogy/kiss land and more so of a modern take on that style in after hours and dawn beyond what goes viral

    Great points
I hear blinding lights as retrowave taken seriously, not pop or r&b etc
To me it’s a massive hit because it’s the only instance of retrowave’s actual potential.
A distant but noteworthy second place would be “Let Us” by DeLorra, which could be said to be underproduced and also perfect as-is. Blinding lights managed to add polish without glare. Was it luck, wisdom, or both?

well im into R&B soul and i waould like to touch some pop and hiphop, but my biggest influence so far were always edm including dubsted. i dont really know how is dubstep going to fit into R&B soul with Pop, but i think i have something really interesting to work on in

The Weeknd is a way different artist than michael Jackson. Besides having the same voice, they perform completely different songs. I wish people would stop comparing music artist in that way. And before you say he sung dirty Diana. Yes, it’s called a tribute. It’s respectful and in good taste. Unlike this video.

I'd say The Weeknd's style feels like a pretty natural progression from what MJ was doing back in the day. It feels like a modern take of what Michael was doing during the 80s
