You are asking people to pay cash for a scooter; when you can get a decent scooter thru your insurance which if they had 2 X insurances they won’t pay a penny. You also did not mention when you pay cash for a scooter you will have to pay cash for all repairs and batteries and they run around $400 as each scooter has 2x batteries. When you go thru insurance all repairs and batteries are covered.

I’ve owned several scooters and found the less expensive smaller ones to be extremely uncomfortable on anything but a smooth surface, but the best one by far that I’ve owned is the Pride Executive, it’s a bit bigger and the springing is excellent it’s like night and day to those smaller scooters.

Does Medicare pay for a scooter
You should have put all this on there because us living on disability under the price of one some of make less than one price of the scooter in 4 or more months. I would love to have one but I can't afford it. So you should put it from the beginning you don't take disabled insurance of any kind and not even disabled veteran can afford this and need it. Thanks for getting our hopes up.

@@deborahcantrell7617 My Dr. wrote a prescription for a scooter but Medicare gave me an electric wheelchair instead. They didn't think I would be able to use a scooter. I'm not comfortable using the wheelchair. When I was left with some money from inheritance I bought a scooter and it is much easier to operate. I have a degenerative nerve condition that makes the movements of my hands "iffy" and the steering on the scooter is much easier for me to control. If you would like a scooter ask your Dr. to write a prescription for it and hope Medicare will honor that choice for you.

As a person who can not walk without a walker there is only one of these that works for me...the number 4 on this list, the Buzz Around Ex. There is no way I could ever take apart or lift any of these scooter parts...most people who really need a scooter could not. Maybe it is easy for those who have problems with mobility because of breathing or heart problems but not for those of us who have problems that make normal walking impossible. I do appreciate seeing the comparisons and descriptions for people needing to choose a scooter based on their needs.

I guess you have to be a US citizen to have heard of any of them. In NZ, the most common brands are Invacare, Pride, Shoprider and Hartway, with Merits being relatively new to the market. All of the scooters you showed are "tiddlers" suitable only for teens or very petite adults. Here, we like bigger, rugged scooters, able to handle rougher terrain, with longer battery life, and travel distance.

I've used scooters many times from rental places, and a few of the things I've learned that aren't mentioned in thisvideo are: if you have difficulty bending down, you probably won't be able to take your scooter apart or put it back together without help, because some of the pieces have to go into the bottom section. Also, unless you can get on the ground and up easily, I would look for one that you can charge on steering column by the key. I have one now that only charges directly in the battery. It's fairly easy to remove the battery and take it into your room to charge and then snap it back in. If this is hard to do, however, I found that mine had a connecting cord that has pins in it that have o be lined up correctly with the battery charging slot. I never could manage this, so had to always get help. Another issue with the steering column that has the handles that stick out like a bike does is that unless you are thin, when you are getting on and off, it's easy to accidentally hit the lever that moves the scooter forward or backward, which can cause you to fall asthe scooter scoots but you are still part-way on it. I'd recommend the handles that wrap around the movement controls--the ones that make a C-shape off the column rather than a T. I love my scooter that I bought at a bargain price from a local store. It's allowed me to attend events that I'd otherwise be unable to enjoy because it's too hard for me to get around without some aid.

I bought one that works fine, but the only way to charge it is by plugging into the battery. The cord has to be aligned perfectly to connect it because it has pins which have to fit into the right slots on the battery. And, while the battery is removeable, it is heavy and I have to bend down to get it out and to see the front of the battery. I can't physically do this, so I have to get someone to help me. The most practical solution for this is to buy one where the charging port is up on the steering column. I didn't know this, but now I do.

The one I have is too heavy for me to lift because the battery is so heavy. So I have had to pay for a lift to be fitted. Furthermore, the newer ones are way out of my price range. It's impossible for me to even think about getting a more modern one. What you need to include in these descriptions is? These scooters are only useful outside of the home for going around your supermarket once you drove it there in your car first! after that all of these wouldnt pull the bs out of a politicians ear!

Did you actually ride any of those scooters?

    Crap, all of them.
    1) why should you be confined to 4 mph or similar, just because you might have balance problems
    2) easy transport my "donkey".... do you expect the users to disasemble them? Parts of 30 lbs. There are entite vehicles of that weight (and snail speed)
    3) outdoor? Where? Certainly not on the beach or in forrests......
There are countless better options out there. Travelscoot, Efoldi and more, far lighter and still slow as hell
L3WO is not production ready yet, but is already meeting 2 of 3 (working on the offroad part) and an expected sales price on par with a standard e-scooter

So your not referring to UK products...
Yet you're mixing US/English terms mph range ect...
Make your mind up if you wish to be helpful.

My Pride Baja Raptor 2 does 14 mph, plenty fast enough for sidewalks.

@@Dale-l6zIts turning radius is huge, though. It seems I need two scooters, one for going off road, and one for in the house and store! I’m on Medicare and SS, so I can’t afford two!

@@suew4609It has never been an issue for me. If I have to, it's no problem to do a three point turn. It's a small tradeoff for everything else it does. Speed, comfort with it's highback seat, nice suspension, decent storage with an accessory basket; even better with a trailer. What's not to like.
