New York Jets GM Joe Douglas believes Zach Wilson is an 'asset' | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
/ nflonnbc - Спорт
Welp this aged quickly
Like milk
milk in 115 degree summer heat.
Broncos Country; let’s RIDE!!
Simms "That doesn't happen in the NFL"
Broncos "Hold my beer"
Only reason I’m watching haha
“Nobody is trading for Zach Wilson, we all know this.” Sean Payton “hold my beer.”
I am relieved for Zach Wilson getting out of this mess. Zach is going to one of the 3 franchises with the proper coach to groom him. Zach was traded to the Broncos.
The team failed his development and completely blamed him for everything that went wrong. Then the fans developed a Zach Wilson derangement syndrome because they expected him to be Joe Burrow by year 2, even though ZW didn’t have the experience and college pedigree as Burrow. ZW needed time and patience to develop; but this organization was not only bad in QB development, but they expected whomever was there to be a seasoned QB immediately.
That was the worst explanation by a GM to try to convince people they want to keep Zach Wilson and that he’s an asset
Horrible ….
gm needs to go.. too old minded
Welp
Prob because he knew that everyone in the room knew that Zach was gone lol. You, @justicestyles and @jayceasar must have been the last 3 people who thought there was any chance Zach was on this roster next year.
The Broncos: "Good enough for us."
The definition of blowing smoke up our asses. Traded in less than 4 hours
This aged like milk
“Nobody will trade for Zac Wilson” -Simms….. Traded 2 hours later…
How is it possible that Douglas is still the GM
Because he traded for Aaron Rodgers… But he is most definitely on the hot seat. It’s playoffs or he’s gone this year
The jets organization dropped the ball again with a QB damn shame
@@devinmcgowan4365 Exactly, though Credit where Credit is due, he used the rest of his draft picks to add some BIG TIME Contributors.
2021 following Zach:
AVT(Great Versatile Player when healthy)
Elijah Moore(traded for pick that became Joe Tippmann)
Michael Carter I and II(Ones a solid RB, ones a great Slot CB)
Jamien Sherwood
Jason Pinnock(Was starting on the Giants at points last year)
Hamsah Nasrildeen
Brandin Echols(always a solid backup)
Jonathan Marshall
2022:
Sauce Gardner(DROY)
Garett Wilson(OROY)
Jermaine Johnson(AMAZING YEAR 2)
Breece Hall(Versatile RB with nearly 1600 Yards of total Yardage Last Year for the team)
Jeremy Ruckert(Solid TE)
Max Mitchell(Solid Backup Tackle)
Michael Clemons(Rotational Guy on The DLine)
2023:
Will Mcdonald IV(Sat for most of the year tbf)
Joe Tippmann(new starting center for the Team)
Izza Abanikanda(Backup RB)
Zaire Barnes(Backup LB)
Jarrick Bernard Converse(Backup DB)
Zach Kuntz(Pratice Squad TE last year)
Factoring in those picks, the main reason we can even *Say* with such confidence that Zach is the problem is both the High End Defense the Team has, putting the honest on the offense, and the clear failings of the QB when there are multiple weapons around him that other QBs wind up using better. (Mike White, Joe Flacco.)
Egg Zac Lee
The ONLY reason why the Jets owner didn't fire the GM and useless, inept Head Coach is because they traded for Aaron Rodgers, who the owner was salivating over. If this clueless GM and Head coach continue to refuse to draft/acquire quality offensive linemen then you'll see the Jets owner fire them right after the Jets lose the 1st 3 games of the season
Zack has only played with a horrible offensive line. Rogers only survived 4 plays with that line. Zach spent the rest of the season running for his life. He’s better than you think.
Technically, the broken dryer out in my shed is an "asset" too. Similar trade value to Wilson.
*Edit* This comment was written before Wilson was traded to the Broncos. It turns out that I was mistaken. I would expect to receive more than what the Broncos gave up for Wilson if they want my dryer. After all, with some work the dryer actually has the potential to eventually be good at its job.
exactly.. this is whats wrong with the jets
Valuable broken dryer
we still need a port-a-john attendee , so there's that ..
He is an asset. A *trade* asset.
Every team needs a skilled QB3, and Zach Wilson could be one of the most dependable QB3s in the NFL.
No one is paying 5 mil for a QB3
Maybe the ufl
@@Hokieman-ol7qh I agree that maybe he should take a pay cut. I think that if Justin Fields is taking a pay cut, then, even more the case, Wilson should take a pay cut.
I hope your being sarcastic
Yes ZW struggled but he was more inconsistent than anything. Maybe he has the mechanics but not the intuitive skills for being QB1. I really think he could be a reliable backup or QB3.
The Jets and Chargers have the same decades old issue..ownership.
He’s an “asset” yet your owner came out and devalued that asset by saying they didn’t have a backup QB last season. A clear shot at Wilson lmao. Idk how I’m a fan of this organization 🤣
Nobody's talked much about the Jet's QB depth chart... but... uhh... it really hurt them last year not having a Gardiner Minshew or Drew Lock level QB at #2... and both those guys cost less than what Wilson is making this year... And... Aaron Rodgers ain't getting any younger.. Assuming they cut Wilson, don't the Jets have to draft a QB... say in the 2nd or 3rd Rd? If they're willing to wait, maybe go for Jordan Travis in, say Rd 6 or 7?
The Broncos technically traded for Zach, but he was basically cut. The Jets moved up like 40 spots very late in the draft and are paying Zach's salary.
And a couple of years ago Chris said that Zach Wilson was the next best thing. So much for that.
So what?
And he was wrong he admitted it
Yeah half of first round picks end up being busts. No one has a perfect eye for players. Every GM has made picks that turn out terrible. Eagles GM Howie Roseman is one of the best GM’s in the league and he picked Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson. Theres no perfect formula.
Depending on where ZW ends up … Anyone who ends up with the Jets, forget about being your best.
I don’t think that aged real well Chris Simms
Anybody with any common sense should know that he has been running for his life from day 1 with NO OC .
Give Zach competent o line play and decent oc and he will be balling.
I agree he has been massively mismanaged. You don't have a coach that is new to being a HC draft a QB that is a project. Grabbing Rodgers wasn't a bad idea. Just bad luck. Theor OC they brought in because of that idiot though was a stupid idea. They need an OC that can make everything easy for rookies and ramp it up over time.
I still think some team out there should gamble and give the Jets a decent pick for Zach. Do I think he’ll ever pan out? Well, maybe, if he’s on the right team. He does have an amazing arm on him. How about the Vikings? If they can’t trade up to get a good QB - I think the QBs with potential will be gone 1-2-3 in the 2024 draft (Penix might have a shot) - then the Vikings could take a flier on Zach. Of course there is information we fans don’t know about that insiders do.
Why would you give a decent draft pick when you can give them a terrible draft pick?
Broncos just got him
Broncos country; let’s ride!
Chris Simms boy, Zach!! Haha lol
The delta between ability and on-field play with Zach Wilson might be the biggest I’ve ever seen as an NFL fan. He should be terrific. His skillset is actually similar to Aaron Rodgers. But I think Zach lost his Mojo and needs it back. It’s Tic Toc though. For his career he needs to go elsewhere and have a good QB coach. If it doesn’t happen soon he’ll just be another retired NFL player.
💯 I don't think he's the right fit for Jets culture.
First Chiefs fan here. That aside I was excited about AR and the Jets and then their season imploded. I can see what people are talking abt now with the Jets org. Geez...
Tomorrow, Simms will tell us what a great move this is by Sean Payton. LMAO
Clearly, he was keeping things from the media here.
PHYSICALLY, Wilson is exceedingly gifted. In terms of his inability to even basic vanilla coverages, that automatically nullifies all that amazing athletic ability. In Wilson's defense, he's never had a good offensive line in front of him and never had a quality offensive coordinator or qb coach. Wilson needs to sit, watch BUNCHES of game tape and not get back on the field till he gets the mental/coverage reading stuff right.
Jets haven’t known how to groom these Q B’s. Zach is worth more than a sixth round pick. He’s got decent amount of experience… to be a second string if he doesn’t make a first string.
As a life long chiefs fan im excited for Denver. Going to be another great season! Payton wa supposed to be their savior. Turned out to be judas!
“No one is going to trade for Zach Wilson”
that didnt age well
Nobody believes Zach is an asset! 😂🤣🤣🤣
This is like the 2nd or third time in a month that these guys have come on here talking about a player who was on a team, only to come back and have said player be traded the same day of the topic.
This is literally why the Eagles go to a Super Bowl and the Jets can’t even sniff the playoffs
"Nobody will trade for Zach. That's not how the NFL works."
This already happened 😅 is Done ✅
This is all spot on tbh
is it?
@@w00deey12 they said that the jets need to stop playing games and just trade zach so yes lol. Only thing that was off was Chris saying no one wants to trade for him
@@Justin--ze6qq backpedaling is not in the Olympics
@@w00deey12 did you watch the video or just read the title lil bro
@@Justin--ze6qq changing the subject isn't in the Olympics either. lmao
Douglas is correct , for the first 3 letters...
Aged well
Simms doesn’t know what he’s talking about
There's no reason to trade him
The Cowboys should trade their 1st round pick for him. 😎
What’s that Chris? No one is gonna trade for him? Oops…
Denver Broncos....hold my beer..
If you watch closely you can see when he starts to lie...
Ironic
Apparently, he was actually a “liability”.
Florio you are right about the Jets. Woody sell the team.
Is there an NFL lemon law?
Umm…
Lol and just like that Simms is wrong again as he gets traded hours after this is put up.
You’re crazy. Back to back AFC TITLE GAMES, Herman Edwards’s had us battling. Stop the politics, NOBODY WAS SCARED OF WODDYS BROTHER, he gave us GASE! Stop it, you’re better than playin politics
No future prospect is going to be upset going to the Jets because of how they have handled Zach Wilson. All NFL fans can see that he's a bust. It's highly doubtful that he's even a solid NFL backup... a-la Sam Darnold. The Jets will have to cut him or fo a late round pick swap, as they won't even get a solid #6 rd pick. They need to move on.
Next time we hear a long ass rambling story about "sources"...fire up this vid & let it eat
What else is he supposed to say????.....that he's a bust...which he is. Wilson is an asset if another teams starting QB goes down maybe and as a camp body.
Definitely not going to be a QB three in Denver. You have to remember that he was playing with the Jets, which is the most embarrassing franchise in the NFL. When is the last time they ever developed a young quarterback?
QB1
Dude has had horrendous offensive coaching since he got drafted. Hackett is a bum and only got the job because Rodgers likes him. A lot of people run their mouth about these qbs that fail in awful situations. With a year under Payton he may turn into a good qb
Point is! ZW stinks
Well just trade him..
More proof that Chris Simms has no credibility
Well he is traded to the Broncos
Hahahahahahahaha Wilson was traded today 😂😂😂 sims is really a very bad at predicting the future...
So dumb for them to let go of Zach. He has so much latent potential
No he doesn’t
He has had to many chances Wilson is no good sorry i wouldn't want him
the only way for the jets have a chance to trade zach is for a 8th round pick.
Name a more embarrassing duo than these 2..... i will wait
zach wilson sucks lol how did the jets not give him a chance? Im not a jets fan btw
He needs to question his beliefs because they are ill founded.
This guy is the most discussed back up quarterback I’ve ever seen. My word. Let the man be a young back up and develop and do his thing. There shouldn’t be this much pressure in regards to holding a clipboard (tablet).
An asset to the Broncos ;)
Wow, Sims is really really really really really stupid.
