LIV can’t recreate history. No one or no thing can. Players who have previously qualified for the majors are currently allowed to participate. The Masters is independent of the PGA as are other major tournaments. As such they can invite whom ever they choose. New leagues in other sports have been created over the years and are prospering as they coexist with the more established leagues. Rahm's skill level 100% deserves this huge amount of attention and news with the 600 million dollar jacket. If you are a top 5 player in the world, it should be this big like it is.
First question.. did you ever think, when you were in your early 20's, that you would some day make half a billy? Nah bro not even bezos thought that shit. This makes NBA, Premier, NFL, AND MLB athletes COMBINED, look underpaid. If not close... i did not look it up. Ya'll would do the same shit.
Let's be honest, and golf is supposed to be a gentleman's game full of honor, honesty, integrity, etiquette, and politeness. Jon Rahm went to LIV STRICTLY FOR THE 600 MILLION. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR ALL PRO GOLFERS IS MONEY! Don't believe any of that nonsense about loving the game and titles being the most important. You can always judge people by their actions. Rahm and other golf stars chose the LIV money over anything the PGA Tour had to offer - history, titles, fame, legacy, or loyalty. I'm happy for Rahm. How could anyone in their right mind turn down 600m! Money is the most important thing in this world for 99% of the people. They all have a price, a number, they will accept. More PGA stars will leave for LIV, I'm sure of it. This might be the end of the PGA Tour as we know it. That will be a deserving fate because of their greed that Michelson pointed out, and because they have tried to monopolize pro golf. From the beginning, LIV has had a right to exist and recruit players, who of their on free will join it. Also, all of that talk about Saudi money being blood money because of the Saudi human rights violations and political murders is hypocritical nonsense. Look at the war crimes and murder the USA is supporting with Israel's murderous genocide of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, for one clear example. USA money is blood money too. We live in a world where many corporations and companies make billions of dollars off of war and murder, or off of polluting the planet with smog and chemicals. So, all of the golf tours and professional sports are full of blood money. I don't like LIV's format or their loud music, but with all of that Saudi money involved it is here to stay. I do think we will soon see a merger of the two tours, because that will be the only way the PGA tour survives.
It’s nothing more than greed from a man who is leaving an organization who made him a multi-millionaire and enabled him to build his brand. Now he is helping to destroy a treasured organization whose founders would be so disappointed knowing these players have jumped ship for a organization known for it’s brutal monarchy where freedom of speech is prohibited, wearing certain clothing is prohibited, not to mention all the atrocities against women. It's like a church that won't tolerate women leaders and is still singing the same hymns from the 19th century. 3 day tournaments, a team format, mic'd up players and caddies were obvious innovations. Playing tournaments around the world is a necessity to grow the sport. I hate the big money aspect but LIV golf was inevitable.
This isn't helping golf. None of this BS is. I agree golf needs to be more entertaining. But LIV is not the answer. I can't even watch it if I wanted to in Canada.

I don’t have a problem with LIV, I do have a problem with people not being honest about why they joined LIV. If there was a league with the same players and format, but the purse was $100K and no signing bonus, there is no way Jon would join because the money sucks. Don’t tell me it’s the format and to grow the game. It’s always about the money, which is fine, just be honest. Unless he’s being told not to say that.

I can't find fault with his decision. A career can be short or long, so why not make what you can in your prime? Family and self-fulfilment is paramount.
I remember rahm said he couldn’t be bought and that’s what made me like rahm even more when he said that …. 1 year later he can be bought. Lost all respect for you rahm after you said that and then join for money
I like to watch all the best players compete against each other - this divide greatly helps the players financially- but as a fan we are not getting the best product. Now the only golf that really matters are the majors. I am a big fan of JR - and he said it best - this is best for him. Not for me and other fans of watching the best compete.

Sellout, chose greed over his legacy in the sport. Shameful. Thanks for making it easy on Scottie Scheffler to run the next two decades as unquestioned best player in the sport. Rahm ran from competition.
I hope this pushes helps push Ryder Cup and Major access for LIV players. Rahm is exempt for majors but can’t imagine anyone wants to see him on the sidelines in Bethpage.
Pretty sure the "team" aspect was not the deciding factor. I'm thinking dollars dancing like sugarplums in his head. How many tournaments are they required to play?
I'm not a fan of Jon Rahm's decision, as it seems inconsistent with the values he has previously emphasized. While I respect it's his choice, I find it challenging to comprehend it at this moment, especially considering the balance between legacy and financial aspects in golf.
Read my comment below for more of my thoughts on this issue. What I like about LIV is: 3-day tournaments (4 days is too long), no cut (all players get paid), high purses (wealth attracts fans and TV), Global golf (new great courses and more countries involved), the best players in the world (Rahm, Koepka, DeChambeau, Johnson, etc.), and team play (keeps players focused and trying hard). What I don't like about LIV: loud music (noisy and distracting), shotgun start (removes introductions and drama from 1st tee), and not enough tournaments in the USA (which is the golf capital of the world). Even if the PGA Tour gets billionaire investors, they had better merge with LIV or they will lose many fans. Palmer, Nicklaus, and Woods proved without a doubt, it's the superstars that matter the most. They had better get those golf superstars back on their tour somehow someway, or it's sayonara, ciao, and adios.

Thank You! The pga tour could hear the footsteps coming up behind them but were too arrogant, like Phil pointed out, and too full of themselves.
Just say you wanted the money. In 10 years you'll be remembered as a sell out. Seve would be 👏
Need to put a * next to his name. Sell out!!
Oh boy, im so excited!!! Nope... snoooooooooze
This isn't helping golf. None of this BS is. I agree golf needs to be more entertaining. But LIV is not the answer. I can't even watch it if I wanted to in Canada.
You don't own a computer....streaming is the future. Some ignorant people need to do some research..cricket is now the 2nd biggest sport in the world due to innovation in the formats.....PGAT had a strategy of maiming every other global tour so they became only feeder tours to PGAT....THAT is not helping golf!
Jon’s getting a bone saw for Christmas.
this is fantastic!!!! ❤
I’m be always liked Jon!!
Everybody's got their price.
Who in their right mind wouldn't do the same.
In the sick World we live in today, MONEY RULES OK !!
Just stating the glaringly obvious!!
That wasnt rehearsed was it
Isn’t it bad that the top golfers in the world no longer compete against each other on a weekly basis?? All still can play in majors, right?
400 m doesn’t change my life but 600 m can take my life.
what made him come to LIV? answer is quite $imple hahahaha
He aint saying it but we all know what hes saying "i won the masters at augusta. And just secured a bag of money I cant physically carry"
WELCOME JON!...YOU'RE THE BEST DAVID!!
Flaherty total sellout as well as this $500 million Spanish player. They both did it for the money not for the love of the game not for the competition not for the team concept just say it straight out you did it for the money if you lead off with that, maybe people would kind of understand but would understand but when you go out there and blatantly lie and say you do it for the team competition and whatever without saying first off you did it for the money that’s just making us look like we’re stupid come on give us more credit than that
Wonder if he would be interested in “growing” this game for 100M ? Stop insulting our intelligence
I’d be in first in my golf pool by a long shot if Rahm didn’t switch to Liv 😢 it was between him and Scottie… always loved Rahm so I can’t help but be mad because this golf pool was worth HUGE money 😔😞😓
It’s ok. Monahan will replace him on tour. Heard he’s a spectacular golfer. Rory should make the leap next.
Good for you John PGA is a great players sport but no emphasis on fans..Liv golf did their dudilagence..Its exciting and the comentary sometimes makes me burst a gut laughing.Faherty is Great
I can't find fault with his decision. A career can be short or long, so why not make what you can in your prime? Family and self-fulfilment is paramount.
Money over morals gotta love it !
What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world
"growing the game", "team golf".... pffft!!! Rahm was my favorite, but no longer. Don't care about watching anymore. I'd rather play instead.
At the end of the day nobody watches liv golf am not convinced that will change much either
Welcome Rahm!!! I just love golf 🤙🏾
I remember rahm said he couldn’t be bought and that’s what made me like rahm even more when he said that …. 1 year later he can be bought. Lost all respect for you rahm after you said that and then join for money
The latest turncoat. I can't wait to root against him in majors.
Yeah and how many majors do you have under your belt? 🤣 🤣 🤣
The face of LIV
he had an option, he took it, a very smart move, has financial security for himself, his family.
what he learned, take care of yourself, nobody else will, great decision for yourself
Yup, and as Phil showed everyone, the tour doesn't care about the players....only their own bank account.
Some lies out Rahm he joined for the bag and that’s ok we all know it just be honest 😂😂
I like to watch all the best players compete against each other - this divide greatly helps the players financially- but as a fan we are not getting the best product. Now the only golf that really matters are the majors. I am a big fan of JR - and he said it best - this is best for him. Not for me and other fans of watching the best compete.
Yeah, and the pga tour really couldn't care less. The pga tour doesn't care about what fans, or players want for that matter.
Liv tour can't recreate the history of the masters can't recreate the history of the Augusta course, Liv tour can't recreate the Pebble Beach and the history there. Beth's black. Etc. If you want to compete for majors, if you want to compete against tigers/Jacks majors record you have to play the PGA majors. Liv would need 70 years to create that history.
L1V YOUR KILLING THE GAME
Team name? Other team members?
He's lost all cred. LIV is a joke. He said so himself several months ago, vehemently. No cred, no integrity, no honor. All about the all mighty dollar, under the cover of the old story line all these guys spew out... to grow the game. Right. Seve is rolling over in his grave.
The tour made the merger without telling anyone not even Tiger… why would any of them stay loyal to an entity like that.
thx
Sellout, chose greed over his legacy in the sport. Shameful. Thanks for making it easy on Scottie Scheffler to run the next two decades as unquestioned best player in the sport. Rahm ran from competition.
Nobody asked
Bot
Love how he says he wants to reach a bigger audience in Spain. No ones watch LIV so going to struggle a bit there
54 holes no cut no tee times
No thank you
Incredible news, congratulations to everybody involved. Can’t wait for the season to start!
I hope this pushes helps push Ryder Cup and Major access for LIV players. Rahm is exempt for majors but can’t imagine anyone wants to see him on the sidelines in Bethpage.
Cant wait to see him.
Pretty sure the "team" aspect was not the deciding factor. I'm thinking dollars dancing like sugarplums in his head. How many tournaments are they required to play?
Can't he just be honest and say Money made him go
This interview could have been a lot shorter: I left because they will make me a billionaire in a few years.
I'm not a fan of Jon Rahm's decision, as it seems inconsistent with the values he has previously emphasized. While I respect it's his choice, I find it challenging to comprehend it at this moment, especially considering the balance between legacy and financial aspects in golf.
Every man has his price.
