"You're a liar, a cheat, a devil, a whore and you sell sea shells on the sea shore" is the hardest line ever, the fact it goes full circle at the end is so fucking cool
"The world is yours" is a phrase commonly associated with Tony Montana, a fictional cartel leader and the protagonist of the 1983 film Scarface; it also appears on a statue in his mansion and as the subtitle to the non-canon 2006 game Scarface: The World Is Yours. Whilst the phrase of course didn't originate with Scarface, it's pretty hard to not think of Tony when it is mentioned, and the parallels between a simple seller of sea shells on the sea shore going on to deal in diamonds, drugs and firearms definitely parallels Tony going from being a guy that just wanted a green card to live in the US to becoming a gangster and later the leader, dealing in similar substances.
This is literally what happened in the 1920’s with diamonds and wedding rings. Before then, nobody wasted money on pointless diamonds,. But people wanted to make money, so they shoved it down society’s throat, and society ate it up as if we had a choice in it.
Omg that’s true. Diamonds aren’t rare at all. These people have millions of them. This is practically the story of the diamond industry but if it was actually a sea shell industry
And you fell for it The song literally says that we keep trying to find someone to blame We are the society We fucked up We have no one to blame but ourselves for falling for this
You think this is good, check out "Hi ren" and "The tale of Jenny and Screech" (3 parts)... THIS and his other stuff is so insanely good, he's a gifted man.
Being successfull is not about money m8. I guess you live in USA where money is what completly defines you as a social entity. But success means literally the fact of completing or achieve some personal desire/goal, not money related at all. But most of consumist countries make people think of money as that goal to make you a money making-bot.
I think striving for money is fine if people want to. Like it or not, money represents power. And some people are born to strive for power. Whether they achieve it or not... Well, that's a different story.
