- One of the most solid hard rocking discs back in the day. Straight ahead with absolutely no pretension whatsoever - Fire Down Under plays like an entire song.
I saw these guys open for Mahogany Rush and Triumph in 1981. I’d never heard of them before. I met a guy a couple years later who was a huge Riot fan and I recognized a couple songs from that show . Been a fan ever since.
What a great song! From an era that Heavy Metal was melodic, simple and genuine! Too bad that RIOT didn't become big band like others from that decade.
EXEPCIONAL VIDEO y GRACIAS ETERNOS A ÉSTOS GRANDES MÚSICOS QUE POR MÁS DECLIVE QUE TUVIERON Y CÓMO COMENZARON YA A LS VISTA MARCARON UN CAMINÓ Y LO LOGRARON CON ESFUERZO RIOT Y SU ESTILÓ ÚNICO!! 👋👋🤘😆
@@PUK015 Thank you for uploading, saw them in Dallas,Texas in 1979. One of the greatest bands I've ever witnessed. They opened for Molly Hatchet and AC⚡DC. And they shined brightly, bought Narita the next day. Amazing band!!!!
According to Sandy Slavin the drummer of Riot at the time in an Classix Metal Magazine December 2009 interviwe. This is what Sandy Slavin said. "There have been a lot of stories over the years as to why Guy left the group…Guy left the group for one reason…The band’s management wouldn’t pay him enough money to live on. Guy went out and got an entry level job and was making more money than he could make with RIOT. All of these stories about Guy leaving because he would rather work a menial job rather than play arenas, or that he’d had a religious conversion that made Rock ‘n Roll seem satanic or something made Guy look like a fool, and totally disrespects his memory. The truth is he just couldn’t get paid and he got fed up with constantly fighting to get a little of the money that was rightfully his. All the rest of the band understood this as we were all going through the same thing…We were all disappointed when Guy left, but none of us were mad at him…We all understood… If the managers had paid Guy the money that was rightfully his, he never would have left the band (and for that matter, RIOT would never have broken up 2 years later)… I’ve been in the music business for a long time and every band and musician has tales of how they were ripped off, but I have never heard of a situation as bad as RIOT’s…You have to understand that the bands managers were also the record producers…they were also the music publishers and also owned the recording studio that we had to use…You had a situation where the same person would pay himself as the manager, pay himself again as the record producer, pay himself as the music publisher and then, he would pay himself as the studio owner…He’d then say to us “Sorry boys…There’s no money”
I was in the "business" for many years. Toured across the U.S. and Canada. Our techs and Sound engineers made more than the band and writers ever did. This was from 1984-2000. I left to take a job in sales as well as teaching. I love music, but not the business,it took my heart and soul.

Words cannot describe how happy I am to see this video. Talk about a band that should have been way bigger, and was haunted by the grim reaper.

Man it would have been nice if they’d had a solid cam on that guitar for the solo. I mean, I’m grateful to have this....but damn!
Watched the No Lies video and thought the same thing
