Everytime I listen to this song, love, faith and death comes to me. The fear of love and lack of faith in God. But He tells us to put our hands to His, to hold on and believe because he is there for us. That's why maybe at the end of the song, it says don't be afraid and sleep tight because we are on His arms, if we believe.
This was actually used as an Original Soundtrack for the Philippine drama "Spirits", the song does fit the concept of the drama since it was a supernatural themed drama...

"You'll Be Safe Here", an EP by OPM band Rivermaya, featuring the song with the same name which was first used as the theme song to the 2005 ABS-CBN TV show Spirits. It has 2 music videos where the 2nd music video used an advanced technology that translates the lyrics of the song. This song was also played at the 2006 MTV Asia Awards. Rivermaya was the only Filipino band to perform in the awards show. The song reached #1 on the Philippine music charts in its release and currently, two years after its original release date gained popularity in Asia and is slated for a European release.

you know what i love about this song? it's one of those universal, always relevant songs. this one was released in the mid-2000's (can't remember the exact year) but i was in high school and Rivermaya along with Eraserheads (and some others, the booming 90s Filipino bands era) have been such impactful OPM (original pinoy music) artists in my teenage years :)

This song served as the opening theme of the Filipino TV series "Spirits" which had a horror/supernatural genre about a group of teenagers who discovered they had acquired supernatural abilities after a pandemic hit their town. Here's the storyline; "One day, the kids' hometown was hit by an unknown supernatural epidemic. The strange thing about it was that the sickness only affected kids. About a week after the sickness hit, almost every toddler and kid in town was affected. The town hospital was full of kids. One night, the evening sky started to change colors. It started to look like a mix of pink, red, and purple. A few hours after the sky changed, a pregnant lady was taken to the hospital. What she did not know is that the baby that she was carrying was an alien. An unknown man did know about the alien, and he went to the hospital to kill it which meant that he would have to kill the lady too. The man entered the emergency room. but he was too late. The alien was born and just as he entered the room, the alien released a bright light in the hospital and it killed almost all the children that were in the hospital. The only ones who survived were the eight kids and the adults." The story tells that the world was composed by three different groups. Mortal, Immortals, Elementals. I don't know if the TV series just adopted the song as it's theme or Rico Blanco composed it primarily to suit the TV series' story.
My girlfriend and I are in a cool off and she's still my comfort and this song now hits me harder and with a new meaning. I now can understand the lines that I just sang and passed through before.
From what I recall this song was either written by Rico Blanco as the theme song for the TV series "Spirits" which was a sort of X-Men like group of teens who later discovered that they possessed different abilities/supernatural powers after an epidemic hit their town or was already written and became popular so the series just decided to adopt the song. Here's the link about it from Wikipedia; Spirits (TV series) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirits_(TV_series) The first thing that made me like this one too is that unlike so many songs nowadays it has that poetic style to it which is lot harder to accomplish when conveying something through music. Add to that is the melody and instrumentals which includes a violin, something rarely seen in modern pop music. Rico was highly influenced by U2, Britpop, and New Wave artists like The Cure etc. I would recommend two other songs from this group, "Sunday Driving" and "One Good Afternoon". The latter being Rico's tribute to the Beatles.
Awesome this is my favorite song back then in my highschool days......whenever i hear this song sweet memorries pop up in my mind.....i still remember when this song played during blind date during in valentines day...amazing😘

The closest interpretation to this song is Adam Lavine's Lost Stars. Whether its fate or random circumstance that we found each other, it doesnt matter. And if you found me in a broken state, know that I am hear for you. You were lost once, but now I found you and I will scream with you. The world may be insincere, but you will be safe here. With me.
Man I always go back to your reactions just to feel good. Lowkey missing your OPM reactions lol. If you want more classics, you should react to Hale's 'Shooting Star', Imago's 'Akap', Moonstar88's 'Migraine' and 'Torete', Uo Dharma Down's 'Oo', 'Indak', and 'Tadhana' as well. If you're down to newgen OPM music, dive into Cup of Joe and BINI songs.

The first thing that made me like this one too is that unlike so many songs nowadays it has that poetic style to it which is lot harder to accomplish when conveying something through music.
You deserve my subs man.. Thank you for supporting opm.
Awesome this is my favorite song back then in my highschool days......whenever i hear this song sweet memorries pop up in my mind.....i still remember when this song played during blind date during in valentines day...amazing😘
It came from 2005-07, resurgence of OPM, 90s of course is the best decade but the bands got another wave in mid 00s. The Mr. Clay review you did, the Vocalist is the former vocalist of this rivermaya, they're legendary artists.
What A nice soundtrack of my school days... Thanks for reminding us
ALWAYS STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY AND GOD BLESS US ALL

The closest interpretation to this song is Adam Lavine's Lost Stars.
Whether its fate or random circumstance that we found each other, it doesnt matter. And if you found me in a broken state, know that I am hear for you. You were lost once, but now I found you and I will scream with you. The world may be insincere, but you will be safe here. With me.
When I hear this song I see our father Jesus Christ and say's "You Be Safe Here"💕💕💕
Amen, brother!
If you're down to newgen OPM music, dive into Cup of Joe and BINI songs.
i was gonna say the same thing, its really giving me u2 vibes as well. haha i remember when i was in highschool, at the height of this song, 2007, we were trying to pick a graduation song and one of my classmates, a guy who i never really took seriously hahaha, he suggested this song and i never really took his opinion to heart but looking back now, i wish i listened to him. what a great song indeed!
I sooo freaking love this song!❤
