Can I ask a question. How does this tool take care the rivet nut is pulled perfectly perpendicular into the sheet metal? I do have a manual setting tool and most of the time it's not perpendicular. While I'm very careful I do have the tool perpendicular when I apply the force to pull, it still fails often.

Thanks for your question. There could be a couple of reasons for your rivet nuts being pulled up on an angle:
      a. Sometimes it can be harder to keep a hand tool at a 90º angle.
      b. Check the hole size drilled for the rivet nut and grip range is correct.
      c. If the rivet nut is a low-quality product you can expect installation issues.
      d. Power tools do a better job of pulling the rivet nut flat and into place.

@@rivetlab Thanks that was valuable. I do believe I have point a correct. regarding b I have the hole a bit undersize, so there is some friction on inserting the rivet nut, is that wrong? I don't know about c, every manufacturer claims their products are fine. Still I'm interested to learn why d is the case? Thanks for your time!

@@SE45CX Hi, check the specs on the correct hole size. If the hole is too small (or too large, on the other hand), you could get variable results.

Is this tool able to work with plus nuts?

I do not recommend it. Plus nuts work better on a stroke-controlled tool rather than a pressure-control tool.

Buy a bolt, two washers, and a coupler nut and use your drill or impact. Same thing for maybe $5.

You can certainly set rivet nuts with DIY or low cost hand tools Bofa. This tool is more likely to be used on production lines etc. It just depends on what your requirements are. A bolt, nut and washers pulls up the rivet nut by spinning. This is not kind on the thread and will cause major issues on Aluminium and Stainless rivet nuts.

The cost is inline with high production air tools. For low volume installations the cost is hard to justify but it's totally relevant when you are setting thousand of rivet nuts.
