Hey Beans just letting you know the Mars webpage you have linked had a major glitch when I tried it on my Android phone. Probably a problem on my end but luckily, I can't afford it anyway 😂

If you are serious about this, it would be a good idea to watch a few videos on the difficulties of buying property in Portugal. The red tape for everything is quite prolonged and requires a new level of patience. I learnt a few useful things. Do not borrow money in Portugal or use an agent. Learn the language and always take a Portugese speaker to appointments, preferably a lawyer. It sounds too hard for me. I shall enjoy watching you do it though. Love from Australia. 🌈🦜🐨🇦🇺
@@mreppen1 Probably not much, and of course British people are no longer EU citizens. Australia has a very simple hoyse-buying process in comparison to the UK. @@danellis-jones1591 yep. My Canadian relatives retired in Mexico near Guadalajara in 2005. They went through the buying process there and it was pretty easy. Of course there is a lot of Canadian and American expats down there, that do support the community.

Having grown up on a farm I can tell you that it is very hard work to keep it all up! I’m amazed that your friends still manage to travel because someone has to take care of the animals, garden and property while they’re gone. You can’t just go traveling and leave the chickens in a pen without care. Hopefully they have loads of good tips for you. 🥰👍🏼
@@jimm8682 Ok, good. That's what I meant by giving them good tips. I know you just can't have animals, orchards, lawn and a garden without having someone to to feed, water, clean, harvest and deal with what's harvested. Thanks 👍
Agree. Living in California wine country, the minute I heard the family plans to grow grapes and make wine, my thought was “that’ll last 5 minutes until they find out the work involved”
@@LindaTNunes 😉 Exactly. Plus, no one’s going to care for your vineyard like you do. People who’ve never lived in a rural setting tend to think farming and ranching are fun and relaxing. Sheesh! Hey! Sending you a welcome to Portugal from a couple of American transplants in Lisbon! We moved here in 2020 and never looked back. Best of luck and hope you find a great property!
I am an American who bought property in France (so not an EU Citizen) and it was very easy and straightforward, guided by my French estate agents. I did a small loan which is all paid up now and also - nary a grandparents birth certificate or other random thing was required. I have lived here now for over 15 years. Don't let folks scare you off from your dream. My best comment on my big moving adventure was not to fight stuff; if doors are opening then walk through! and if the process is continuously difficult at every turn then maybe rethink steps and be willing to be flexible and adjust. Go for it!
Hi ,from uk , Seen u on the newbies ,thought ok ,another one to follow , Yippie ,thanks newbies for introducing us to another beautiful family , Good luck people ,wish u the best in every thing u do
My absolute favorite two channels meet up 💕 when I heard you landed in Porto I was hoping this would happen 😄👍 absolutely enjoyed both of your videos. As already commented on the Newbys video, kudos to John for letting Alex use a loaded nail gun 🤣 now kudos to Alex for actually not hurting himself nor anybody else 😜 nice job on the screen 👍 🤗 Really enjoyed both of your videos. Looking forward to seeing you next week
This is very cozy, but I was hoping to actually get to know the actual process they had to go through to get it, but I am guessing they just bought it straight up, no contact with any Portuguese bank or anything, what about the paperwork, are they exclusively on the deed? Because the issue we have living in portugal is that ALL houses for sale that have an existing loan on the seller, the BANK owns the house apparently, not the "houseowner", they seemingly just live in the house and pay rent in expensive fashion to their bank, disguised as a loan....Portugal is a horrible country when it comes to specifics and paperwork on absolutely everything.
Now that was a suprise seeing you rock up in the Newby's kitchen. My aim is to move to Portugal in a few yrs. For me i want a small village house with a garden where the dogs are safe and where i can grow a few veg. Ideally Northern but happy for Central Portugal too. X
Very nice see no you both together and watched their video as well. They absolutely wonderful and love being in the opportunities of meeting new friends....makes it all better ...and Portuguese farmers are very wonderful friendly people as well..l live in Portugal for 1 year and a half...Coimbra is gorgeous...very historical...😊
The property is lovely. That looks like a lot of work. We purchased our home in the Upper Harz in Northern Germany three years ago. We have a large yard, and I spend a good amount of each week mowing, weeding, and landscaping. I love it, but at 53, I firmly believe that retirement will be a low-maintenance apartment. 😅
Do it! Omg Portugal is such a gem! I'm amazed that such a beautiful country with such a great social safety net also has such super low costs! I live on an acre of paradise in Maui, Hawaii, with the most perfect weather imaginable, and 10min from the beach... but if I wasn't here, the only other place in the world I would want to live would be Portugal.
The fact that you are thinking about Portugal is so awesome. We are also moving from Kenya to Portugal for good, in September. We will need to be closer to Lisbon Airport (1 hr north) for work travel. Looking forward to meeting up with you and maybe a trip across to Morocco.
What a beautiful place to live, and home to make! I will follow The Newby's to see more. I expect you already know this, but there are lots of RUclips chanels who have bought or are buying land in Portugal. I reckon they'd have loads of info which would be relevant. The Wildlanders, The Indie Projects, Mr & Mrs Adventure, Project Amber, The Expawers (Looked into it, decided against it). I'm sure there are more too!
I would recommend comparing things like quality of healthcare and education. Sometimes a low cost of property/cost of living hides other downsides. Also, it's fun collecting eggs but not so much cleaning out the coop.
I love it when two of my favourite RUclipsrs do a collab! Loved this video, was wonderful to see you guys experience farm life with the Newby’s - they’re awesome. Looking forward to seeing your next video about your property search adventures 🥰And baby Noah is just sooooo cute 🥰

I was in that town this April exploring the Douro river region - great to watch you both. Seems half the world has the same idea at the moment - it’s pushing the prices up.
Great video! "You'll never run out of things to do" never a truer word, though more like "You'll never run out of things you had to do yesterday, otherwise..." Still, hard work never killed anyone, after all, and there's the satisfaction of building and growing stuff with your own hands - go for it - otherwise it'll end up being an 'if only we had done...' So, as long as you have a good hospital nearby you'll be fine.
The Newbys house and land is just beautiful ❤ I can’t believe the price of their house too! We bought our first home in the UK just under a year ago and couldn’t believe the prices.
Hi, I just nipped over from the Newby channel to watch this. It was great to see the other side of that episode. I've got to subscribe haven't I? It'll be fascinating to see a new variation of Portugese homesteading.
It’s amazing the new skills you can learn. ❤ I grew up learning how to can fruit and vegetables as well as meats, stews and sauces. Also drying herbs, fruits and vegetables. I really think you’d do well.
Loving this episode most especially because I love these two couples who I both follow on you tube!!! Thank you for sharing this exciting adventure of yours!
i'm from Portugal. I have friends living all over the country. Trust me when i say this - consider Madeira. Great island, special prices for Madeira residents to fly to mainland Portugal, awesome infrastructure, but perhaps more importantly, great health system (much better than mainland), good schools, cheaper lifestyle and overall more quality. I'm from Porto, i love my city, but definitely recommend you take a serious look at Madeira.
Let me bring other perspective to this. I'm from Açores, the other portuguese archipel (born and raised there, living in Lisbon for the past 14 years). Madeira might be appealing, but it is still an island, and even though the weather is much better than in Açores, sometimes is bad as well, and the skies won't let you arrive, or leave. There is no other airport, there is no train or boat, you just cant do anything, it is completely out of your control (is the price you pay to live in a piece of heaven). Madeira have one of the most challenging airports in the entire world. It is something you get use to, specially if you have family there, but would not be my choice. It is something that happen in the mainland as well, but not with the same "intensity". If you guys were a retired couple, or looking to a place to spend the majority of your time, I would totally agree with this! But if I was someone chosing a place to plant my roots, while still exploring the world and moving from the UK and the USA (maybe with some cheap and non refundable tickets) I would never ever chose an island. Although I hope, if you pursue with the plan, that you take the time to explore both archipels!! Nice and safe travels for you three! 😊❤
@@tonys1636 I know Britain is an island. But I think we can agree that an island bigger than whole Portugal, and so close to the continent mainland, doesn't suffer from the same weather conditions as a tiny island in the middle of the ocean :)
OMG I think I need to come to Portugal...... I love growing my own vegetables which I have been doing here in Adelaide Australia since 2019.... just love it.

One of your fellow Brits, also van life traveling, made the move to a Spain (nice villages close to coast, in the mountains) some years ago. They also explorered Portugal for land, but found the summers and some other things were less appealing than España. Their channel is the “ExPAWers”, might find those video blogs insightful also.

Lovely to see you Emma & Alex baby Noah😊 What a Beautiful Farm the picturesque views around , Lush greenery 💕 Yes i can see it also a preference for most. Good luck with your Search you never know ,maybe a visit to Maderia an other new place too tick off your Bucket list 😜. A dear friend of mine went there on holiday a few times She loved it 😍 . Have a Good week safe travels 🥰
Good properties in Portugal ( like the one the Newbies have) have doubled/ tripled in price and are hard to find, because a lot of young families have caught the bug and moved to Portugal, it’s all fun and games until you buy a property in the middle of nowhere in Portugal thinking it’s a fixer upper and it turns into a longtime nightmare, do not get us wrong there are many lovely properties still to be bought, but NOT at the price they used to be. Also we believe the biggest obstacle is still the language, unless you are in or very near a medium size city ( we’re they might speak basic English) you will have to learn Portuguese which is not an easy languages and takes years to perfect. Never the less, the weather is good, the food is fine and the people are very friendly.
Super interesting, especially because I don't experienced Portugal at all yet. Looking really forward to your journey and i'm absolutely hyped about your idea owning and building property outside of UK. And boy, what a charming family and beautiful land you were invited to
Beautiful property. Id deffinately move North if i got to buy in portugal or any Mediterranean country, especially after living in Cyprus. He was right. The blues and Greens win everytime for me. Enjoy the rest of your time guys. X
Oh my you are friends with the NEWBY's. I have been following their family and process. TOO FUN. Now I can follow you. I am working on my move...cheers
The only issue I would worry about for the two of you is that land is very demanding, you cannot leave it alone for days at times and never for weeks. An apartment would be safer and you could more easily rent it when away yourselves. Otherwise you may be bound to a location
So much fun! Also, I thought it was very kind of them to save their egg collecting from the last week so you could experience true “farm life” Emma! 😂Love you guys! Stay safe! 💖
Double yolks are cool.. One time I had a whole dozen eggs from the supermarket that were all double yolks..Running joke was " this one too?" Glad you are doing well.

I would imagine you’re familiar with the Nomadic Movement, but if not, they went through the same transition from van life to homestead. And they have a young child! It would be so great if you visited them in Panama!
Brilliant video. Lovely to see all the children and you all, the adults, getting along and laughing together. What a lot of hard work to get to this stage ( for those with serious stamina) but a beautiful lifestyle ❤ Double yolkers - twins all round!! 😂

No more American national parks via camper van?????
@@Alex-bu6xi They already live on an island, Britain, albeit a lot larger with infrastructure that sometimes works.
@@tonys1636 I know Britain is an island. But I think we can agree that an island bigger than whole Portugal, and so close to the continent mainland, doesn't suffer from the same weather conditions as a tiny island in the middle of the ocean :)
@@Brian-jk2ih they'll still be doing that
The babies are so adorable 🥰 Love seeing Noah getting bigger. So cute like a mini Alex 🥰
OMG I think I need to come to Portugal...... I love growing my own vegetables which I have been doing here in Adelaide Australia since 2019.... just love it.
So strange seeing you sitting at the cafe we sat at two weeks ago. We really loved this area and have considered moving there. We currently live on the Silver Coast in Obidos which again is a very beautiful area.
Awesome video!!! ❤
Yes, you're correct, the horizontal logs are for tying your food for the night to keep it safe from bears.
Omg!! I love the Newbys. They’re my 1st vlogger I subscribed to 😊 I’m so enjoying your vlog as well!
I so enjoyed this video! As a new subscriber I am looking forward to seeing what your future has in store for you. I follow several families on RUclips who have bought land in Portugal, they are all loving the country.
Good luck finding your special place.
Harriet and I say go for it. Portugal is a wonderful place to raise Noah . Take your time in finding the right property that fits your budget, lifestyle. that allows you the time to travel.

Yes, I love the Newby's that is how I heard about you! when you visited video. All the best to you.
Emma, you cracked me up when you mentioned Farmville!! I used to play that game back in the days as well! It was a lot of fun :)
Thinking of you both. Have lost both parents and I have cancer now in remission. It’s not fun and glad you’re able to be there for your families.
This is something we are hoping to do as soon as my youngest finishes college next year. France or Italy for us. It all looks stunning. Go for it. I regret not doing it when are kids are young but other things got in the way..,, Enjoy x
How fun! I follow The Newbys too. Good luck with your search.
I’m glad you guys left this comment because I was having a hard time finding your link. I look forward to following you the beans are awesome people and you guys seem nice as well.
you guys look so happy living in the nature.
Lovely to see your vlog and looking forward to see where your Journey takes you. The Newby's farm is certainly beautiful.
Re the 2 double yolks ... I think it means you are all going to be neighbours ...and the next babies for both families will be twins. I just made that up - but who knows????
Lovely guys! 😍 Yeah be happy! Noah is so adorable, it’s so spooky to see your both faces in one 😁. That double double egg thing must mean something good. 😉
Wishing you the best.
😊👍💕
I am loving the combo of videos between the Beans and the Newbies❤😂
Thanks for taking us along in your adventure to Portugal & to visit other RUclipsrs! Prayers for properly search, may you find the perfect location!
I love to hear them sharing laughs. It’s the best.
Another feel-good-bean experience, lovely video :) thank you for taking the time to put it all together 😊
I loved this SO much!! My biological father was Portuguese and I've always wanted to travel there. I never knew him, but it sure would be nice to see where some of my roots are.
So glad to see you all together since we love BOTH of your channels so much!! The Newby's are my early Sunday morning must watch!! Exciting to see what you guys decide!
Love and Hugs from North Carolina!!
OMG... you girls look like you could be sisters. And I fully support the Portugal home buying idea :)
Lovely to see you Emma & Alex baby Noah😊
What a Beautiful Farm the picturesque views around , Lush greenery 💕
Yes i can see it also a preference for most. Either Dry Yellow sunny very hot south or the very green fresh ,wet rainy North of the country .
Good luck with your Search you never know ,maybe a visit to Maderia an other new place too tick off your Bucket list 😜.
A dear friend of mine went there on holiday a few times She loved it 😍 .
Have a Good week safe travels 🥰
You should watch the wild landers off grid , they had loads of hoops to jump through, think it took took them over a year to get residency.
Oh yes i agree. X
Amarante is my hometown even I´m living in Germany for a while.
Portuguese is actually the 5th easiest language to learn for English speakers
I would if I could, we love Portugal
All the rain is the universe telling you to stay ❤❤❤love you guys long live the bean family ❤❤
Love it! I follow a couple of other couples you might find interesting...Our Rich Journey and The Frugalwoods.
Stay safe! 💖
Another great. Video. Love the newbys…………and the beans…….❤
Double yolks are cool.. One time I had a whole dozen eggs from the supermarket that were all double yolks..Running joke was " this one too?" Glad you are doing well.
I’m so happy to see that you visited the Newbys. It’s a lot of fun when some of my very favorite YT people get together. Great video!
Hi Beans, I have followed the newbys since they moved to portugal, they are a lovely family. Hope you move somewhere where you can meet up with them, you 4 would make great neighbours. ❤
Wow! What beautiful country! I don’t think I would need to look anywhere else! I’m looking forward to see where y’all create a home base, but Portugal will be hard to beat based on beauty and cost so far! And thanks for the intro to The Newby’s! I’m off to check them out now. ❤️
I would imagine you’re familiar with the Nomadic Movement, but if not, they went through the same transition from van life to homestead. And they have a young child! It would be so great if you visited them in Panama!
Brilliant video. Lovely to see all the children and you all, the adults, getting along and laughing together. What a lot of hard work to get to this stage ( for those with serious stamina) but a beautiful lifestyle ❤
Double yolkers - twins all round!! 😂
This is such a beautiful vlog and vibe! Wow. The greenery, the nature. Stunning!
I look at an abundance of these videos on moving to Portugal. The place that you three came to is ideal. One of the best inviting looks of taking an adventure and making a new start in Portugal. It would be fantastic to see the three of you start and accomplish this challenge. Good Luck
