I'm 36, 6yrs sober, and a father of a 2yr old. You both are SOOO spot on. When I look at my friends who are pushing 40 and are single with no kids I have the same feeling as Whitney... "Aren't you sick of yourself?!" Chris is also dead right, it feels good to care about someone other than yourself. There's something peaceful about being a father first and foremost & not spending so much time worrying about yourself. Everything Chris says about being a father is 💯

My pregnancy was really easy. Never lost hair or had cravings. I tried to have a natural home birth, but tapped out after 24 hours. I went to thd hospital just for an epidural, but ended up having a c-section. My recovery was really easy and the discomfort after did not compare to contractions. I went back to work after 1 month. Still not completely convinced why a c-section was warranted and I wish I could've taken more time post partum because I got no sleep at that time.

Re: Santa, we didn’t try to convince our kiddo of a fake guy coming to the house. I just said “Santa is the spirit of giving.” Christmas morning was still great.
It seems risky to make up a big story involving a guy in the house with supernatural abilities and then try hard to persuade the child it’s true when it’s totally not. I did like the points you guys made about connection to the community through tradition. I dig that. But I’ve heard one friend say Santa is the main reason he doesn’t believe in God. He felt duped as a kid and thinks believing in God is the same kind of thing. He’s “not gonna fall for the banana in the tailpipe trick” as Eddie Murphy famously said.
My mom always talked about Santa with a nod and a wink so I think I always knew it was her. It was still awesome.
So that’s my perspective (aka “my truth”) I thought maybe it was worth sharing!

with God to your Daughter, is what being a Lutheran is all about.
    No blind following.
Talking to God from your heart, not thru donations to the church, and some Saint.
Being in a pew doesn't make you a good Christian, it's what's in your Heart.

Wow so much truth and honesty in this. Getting off social media has been huge for me as well. Now to cut out the youtube commenting lol. But I highly recommend at least trying to break your algorithm if you can't get off social media period. Its crazy how the algorithm manipulates us. I broke mine by accident. I was obsessed with true crime and got obsessed with the petite case so every morning I would look up the updates and I didn't realize I was repeatedly choosing a news outlet that I usually would avoid like the plague bc of their political leanings. After weeks of this the algorithm was properly confused as to where I fell politically. It was noticable. The recommended videos and shorts and ads all changed. I stayed making myself interact with things I wouldn't normally interact with. And when I started pausing before liking and disliking things and making myself do the opposite of what my first reaction was I really started noticing regular changes in my algorithm to all kinds of different stuff. I didn't realize before, that when the algorithm has you pegged clearly in a category, that even if you try to search for opposing articles they won't even show them to you when you search for them. You have to break the algorithm before you can even see the other half of the internet. Before that they only show you the extreme that you will automatically love or hate. They manipulate us into being black and white when we live in a world full of gray.

I disagree with Distefano said about purpose and people who are passionate about worldly issues. People who are gung-ho about social/political/environmental issues serve their role in the world. That is their purpose and their sense of duty. Most people can be lukewarm towards the larger community and focus on their immediate circle because it is easier. It takes more empathy and humanity to give more of your passion, time, funding to someone or something across the aisle or world. Anyway, another cool episode.

Agreed with everything about the child needing more nutrients etc. But not "We're supposed to die in child birth". This is obviously not true.
If the question is about evolution, I would expect that women who didn't die in child birth spread their genes with having more children so those genes should be more predominant.

If you’re going to blow out the ISO on Whitney’s single, can we at least get a dark tablecloth and minimise the white objects in the background? I feel like i’m in a tanning bed every time it cuts to her.
