    Great hunt on a great old western KA buck. I've enjoyed your tv show for years, especially when your Dad is on. He and I have been bow hunting for a long time. I started seriously bow hunting in 1970, and have been obsessed with hunting big bucks the whole time. Thanks and good luck as you go forward with your new farm.

    That buck living to 9.5 is literally insane. True warrior of whitetails. You may never get a chance at a buck at that age again! Congrats on a great rare hunt! Cant wait for the next t one!

      It was a blessing and most certainly a rarity! The odds are stacked against deer to make it to that age.

      It is a small world, my sister is married to one of Bruce’s nephews. I have had several shoulder mounts done by him. He is known as one of the best taxidermist there is. Awesome deer, cool to shoot an old giant. I killed an 8.5 year old buck this fall, they are just a different beast

    That shot was far from a smoked him shot. hitting mid body is definitely not an ideal shot, looked like a slight quartering too but glad you found him tho. Beautiful buck!

    I would have fixed the tines as well. Having the pictures of exactly what they looked like means you restore him back to his original state, which is the goal of taxidermy. Congrats on closing the chapter.

    • @mlawsonhunts
      @mlawsonhunts Месяц назад +2

      I personally don’t agree. He is how he is when you shoot him. Accept him in all his current glory. Everyone wants it “to look how he looked”, and I get that. But the busted tines are who he was. If that’s not good enough for you, let him walk

      These are the ones that are similar to what Ty has. They don't make the original ones he bought anymore. Unfortunately these ones are out of stock right now but it says to keep checking back for updates.

      I am proud of him fixed or unfixed. I’ve never done it before and probably won’t do it again. It’s really not that big of a deal either way.

    Remaking the bucks broken rack is ridiculous. Leave it how it was when you shot him. But I guess to which your own. Seems like most all my bucks are broke up I kill. Love the battle scars and missing tines.

  • @BD85Sky
    @BD85Sky 2 месяца назад +1

    Putting points or tines back on I’m sorry is crap though. You mount how you take him. Damn that sucks to see. Anyway good shot.

    • @tripletoutdoors7044
      @tripletoutdoors7044 2 месяца назад +1

      Goes both ways could be showing respect to the buck by fixing them and making him the way he was at his prime or could be a disrespectful by taking away his battle scars

    • @BD85Sky
      @BD85Sky 2 месяца назад +2

      @@tripletoutdoors7044 That’s one way to look at it but that deer earned every point and batted and broke tines leave him the way he is not how you want him to look for you.

      I have trail camera photos, field photos after I killed him and obviously this video to know what he was after he broke it all off. I will never claim to have killed him with all of his tines but I did want to see him with them unbroken which is why I had them fixed. Definitely goes both ways and at the end it was my decision to make. Thanks for watching - Shawn
