    I want to point out that the Althing is today the oldest surviving parliament in the world, it exists on Iceland and was founded in the year 930. In Norway today the parliament is called "Stortinget" (the big thing), and here in Denmark it is called "Folketinget" (the people's thing). Insane that it is still very alive and well.

    Ragnar's children represent him dissected and each part of him became legendary in their own way. This makes Ragnar even more legendary because he was all of this and more rolled in to one person.

    Your post reaction thoughts are always spot on lol. You always remember and mention the right things. Like in all storylines, there’s at least one character one cannot fully trust, but I like that you’re one of the only ones to put your trust in Katya haha.
    Oleg taking out his anger on Igor only worsens things. Oleg knows he’s losing support and is trying to get through it with tyranny lol. Love his character though.
    Ubbe’s speech was amazing, Jordan Patrick Smith was the perfect cast. Such a good scene.
    Overall a solid episode development wise, much needed after 6x11. Next one is very interesting too!
    Enjoyed the reactions as always.

    Katya’s been testing Ivar to see if he really has feelings for him, and the fact that the only time she succeeded to convince him to give in to her was when she dressed up and wore her hair like Freydis was proof to her that he didn’t really love her. I liked that you pointed out that each son has inherited some of Ragnar’s traits - Ubbe his diplomatic skills and his need to find new land to and settle to farm. Hvitserk his fighting skills and addiction problem. Björn his urge to travel and explore but also his tendency to make bad decisions at times. Ivar has inherited most of Ragnar’s traits: His eagerness to observe, question, and learn. His forgiveness (e.g. he never really tried to kill Lagertha even though he had opportunities to do so, he took in Hvitserk and helped him to get well again after Hvitserk had turned against him and helped to take Kattegatt away from him, he also doesn’t even lose a word about Hvitserk almost beating him to a pulp due to Oleg’s manipulations), Ragnar’s love for family - Ivar loved his ”son” and wife despite of what he did, and he is always quick to point out that his own flesh and blood is more important to him than anyone else. He has Ragnar’s leadership skills, his wit and cunning, his strategic and tactical thinking, his ability to see the bigger picture and plan ahead, his impulsiveness ... as you see the list can go on for quite some time, so even though you may at first glance believe that Ubbe or Björn are most similar to Ragnar (and appearancewise they are) ... it is not true. Ivar’s such a complex character, there are so many layers to him, but they’re mostly buried underneath his pain and anger at first, and we only see them unfold in season 6.

    you know the Saxons wrote stuff down right, and the Franks, your points were valid when it comes to stuff that would have only been known to the Vikings but stuff they did in England and Frankia would have been written down, and thats where history is from. The interpretation stuff comes from cultures that didnt write, Native Americans, Vikings, etc.

      Margarette was a slave who was forced....She played the cards she was dealt. Katya is a woman of power and EXPERIENCE - she calmed Ivar down and her seduction quieted the voices of failure in his head. A woman was seducing him instead of the other way around...he's older, he's already been king and married...he's accomplished so many of his goals and can see himself succeeding.
      She gave him bliss - I'm happy he finally knew how that felt!

    • @iMarieKelly
      @iMarieKelly 3 года назад +1

      Banshee has been the show that's had to take a back seat a couple of times. Sith has work and other things to do outside of RUclips, so when he's too busy, the least viewed or requested show gets put on pause, and that has been Banshee every time unfortunately. He is looking to get it completely finished very soon though. - Mod.

      "Flame Boat Thing" is one of multiple burial traditions. I believe Burial Mounds were more common than Boats.. There are Burial Mounds still to this day all around the area that I live in (Norway)
      And the real life Bjørn Ironside is supposedly also buried in a Mound that is still untouched today. Though he lived and died in a completely different way than in this show.

      The flame boat burial is a hollywood thing as back then no heat would be able to burn a ship as the flames would have just went out after maybe 30 mins. You would have graves shaped as boats or pyres shaped as boats though but I think when Bjorn died traditions were changing as a way to preserve history in more than just stories

    So now that we have confirmation that “they retreated” in their first battle against the rus, that means they in no way were winning. So with them not winning or being able to win, how was Bjorn able to escape while being on the verge of death from his life-threatening wound in the middle of the battlefield? Especially when he is going to have to be carried by at least two people? How are those two people able to defend themselves from enemy attacks while carrying Bjorn away? They’re outnumbered and losing. So Bjorn being able to escape the battle still alive, or at all, is BS. But Hirst loves to cut away from showing things like that and just skip to the next scene where they’re already back at Kattegat safe and sound.
