Chemist here. I work with IPA and denatured Ethanol on a daily basis. Both of them are very common, don’t leave residue, and should have no long term effects on plastic or chrome cards. The paper can be tricky. It could cause it become brittle over time if it isn’t dried properly. We actually use both of these chemicals to clean glassware and plastic in the laboratory. I can’t speak on the proprietary surfactants (cleaning detergents) but most are very mild, and won’t leave residue but they can depending on how strong they are.
Its basically what I thought it would be - distilled water with a bit of some cleaning agent. They use distilled water with some bleach to restore old movie poster, soak the poster and put it between pieces of plastic to get the dent/wrinkles/folds out.
@@hustlecrowe9440 they will never use bleach in a professional preservation studio. They do soak in water sometimes, never bleach. Bleach destroys EVERYTHING.
The drama is amusing considering grading companies have made their stance known : They're against it. It's not the worse thing ever but let's be honest about it : Using Kurt's to Grade is gross behavior.
I work in a museum with the restoration department, %99 of people defending this, have NO IDEA how chemicals react with chemicals in paper and plastic. Its also NOT the same as fine art cleaning and or comic book cleaning and pressing.
Well said. Grading companies are against this, so using Kurt's then grading is deceit. It's not the worse thing ever but its still wrong, let's just be honest here.
1. How do grading companies feel? 2. Graded or not, are we disclosing this? My car has a history report of it's damaged and restored parts a new buyer can access easily. I don't see anyone arguing against Kurt's, the argument is using grading companies who don't allow things like Kurt's is deceitful. Personally I say do what you want but if you're selling - and especially if the sole purpose is profit - then be honest what you did.
@ and PSA knows this damn well too. Their whole reaction is theater. Eventually, they will fold because cleaning and waxing will be a hobby mainstay like in comics.
For all "intents and purposes," anyone using this product is a scammer, unless they fully disclose the use of products like this prior to a sale. I hope the grading companies come up with a quick way to test for this, which clearly the technology is available to do. Whether they do it or not, is another question. Seems like the only ones they've caught, to date, is because the alterer has posted it somewhere, and someone else calls them out. We can, be better.

Thanks for the feedback!
This guy actually provided an answer and I totally appreciate this.

I’m here for the card drama

Love the channel And topics you've been touching on 👍
Glad to hear it!
It's not like refurbished. Restoration always needs Restoration again with time. Refurbished means fixed and working as new

How is it different? How many years would we have to wait to see if Kurt's care stuff hurts a card?
@Bay2PAsportscards how about you take some chemistry classes when you grow up
why is cleaning a comic different from cleaning a card?
@jeffw654 comic books are usually dry cleaned with no chemicals. More advanced studios even use lasers. Lasers actually disrupts the dirt.
It would be great if the stuff disintegrates cards after 5 years - leaving empty PSA cases
lol that would be something !
How do feel about comics being pressed and DRY cleaned?
Are there chemicals used in the “dry” cleaning process?

That's why PSA has their big insurance policy.
People restore homes, cars, antique gas pumps, fine art, etc. all the time. Cleaning cards is some sort of crime though…. Weird times we live in
How much did you pay?
For the Hopper, $2450 including tax, tag, title
Kurt's a great guy!
Key ingredients: greed and lack of integrity
That will be 100 bucks thanks
Cleaning a card isn't a lack of integrity
Dork
Hurt's Card's Care?
I generally enjoy this channel but this video was nit necessary not need to give up his ingredient list
It’s public info on their website
secret ingredient is not Mr Mint tears?
People have been doing this since chrome cards have been around. Not seeing the damage it will supposedly do.
So we have to wait till 2045 to know the answer if cleaning effects cards, I’ll be gone by then so oh well
Bless your heart if you don’t think dudes have been cleaning and waxing cards for decades already.
@dom19945 good point. Never thought of that. With probably more toxic stuff.
@ and PSA knows this damn well too. Their whole reaction is theater. Eventually, they will fold because cleaning and waxing will be a hobby mainstay like in comics.
No card is brand new
I been using my spit for over 30 years, is that bad? HAHAHAHA
It's a chemical, you better repent for your sins for what you did to that cardboard picture of a man!
lol
@charlesfuchs hawk tuah on it :)

Hollywood is dead. Spoiled actors are trash. Connor mcgreggor outsold all of hollywood with his 1st movie roadhouse
You said a whole lot of nothing
Then go watch something else. Lol seriously
It won’t matter if they change color in 20 or 30 years. In 20 years, they’ll be no market for the stuff.
Sheesh. ‘Hello Darkness my old friend….” Lol
some of these cards will definitely stand the test of time
It’ll be bigger than today 8 assure you Mr negative
@benjaminlyn8269 they said that during the junk wax era in the '90s, 35 years were still here.
@@annony1annony191junx wax killed the hobby and a plandemic temporarily revived it. Its cyclical and will be a shell of itself in 3-5 years.
