You have to set the deck with the right sequence.
The formula is:
"X" is the named card
if "X" is clubs:
the clubs card (in the video case was 4) - "X" * 4 - the number of suits in front (in case is 3, in order Hearts Spades and Diamonds)
so:
if "X" is an Ace of Clubs:
4 - 1 = 3
3*4=12
12-3=9
the Ace of Clubs have to be on the ninth position from the top

It was mnemonica but its not acaan. It's the trick that can't be explained.

David Blaine memorizes the entire deck, and can think of a way to count the given number and either trick them into thinking their card was there, or if it's actually there, just have them flip it over.
Im pretty sure David just uses a memorized stack for these tricks. It's a lot more simple.
Which, maybe you can see the stack in the video and I'm wrong. But, the memorized stack turns the math into simple addition/subtraction.
If you peak the bottom card is 10th, then they name the 30th card, you simply subtract 10.
If they name the 1st - 10th card, you figure out how many cards are stacked on top.
10 - 52 = 42, once you know that you just do addition.
This video is using a memorized stack. You memorize it based on this math equation
I’m more confused now than when I didn’t know anything about the trick. Besides the mental math and the rules of men being what they are. If it is a randomly shuffled deck then what is the explanation Why the trick always works in the first place

for this trick he normally asks another person to choose a random number then the card would be there, how does that part work?
That part is up to you , it’s a part of the presentation
Tried it your way. Prefer my way much better. Mine tajes veey little math, tajes me 3 secs and I get right 99=. Your David Blaine way took me 10 seconds, 3 math steps and i was only right 80% of the time. My way? 21. Means they count 20 cards. Wait. Ipreduct next card & get it right because knowing just the bottom card I go up 2 value and back one suit for right answer so 21 is both the spot and the calculation i use amazingly.

The stack is very easy. The order is CHaSeD which is clubs ,hearts , spades and diamonds. And the card value increases by 3 every time.
So start with any card...say 4 of clubs, next card will be hearts (CHaSeD) with 3 added to the value so 7 hearts. Next will be Spades but with 3 added again so 10 of Spades. Then we get diamonds with 3 added . (The royal cards are Jack is 11, Queen is 12, King is 13) . So the 13 of Diamonds is the King of Diamonds.
Once you get to 13 you start again at 1.
So far you have 4 clubs, 7 hearts, 10 Spades,King (13 Diamonds)
Back to Clubs and plus 3 is 3 clubs, then 6 hearts, then 9 spades, then Queen (12) Diamonds.
Back to clubs and 12+3 = 15 but take off 13 to get 2 so it’s 2 clubs, then 5 hearts, then 8 spades then Jack (11) Diamonds.
Back to Clubs 11+ 3 = 14 less 13 = 1 so Ace of Clubs.
And so on.
If you get it right you’ll use the whole pack and then there are loads of tricks you can do following a false shuffle.
Only downside is that unlike some more complicated stacks the pack doesn’t stand up to a lot of inspection.

Sorry, but the title is totally misleading, Sir. ACAAN stands for Any Card At Any Number. That means the audience member can name any(!) number, not the performer. David Blaine uses a totally different method. You are wrong twice. Sorry, but that is just wrong.

@@ja9223 okay i finally made the stack..it called Si Stebbins stack ...the deck is like in CHaSeD order.. like Clubs , Hearts , Spades , Diamonds ...but every time the value is plus 3..
here is an example: because you have to follow this (Clubs , Hearts , Spades , Diamonds ) order lets say you started with a 3 of clubs , then hearts but value is +3 so 6 of hearts, then spades with +3 is 9 of spades, then Queen of diamond.. that's how you stack the deck..

this guy's explanation is confusing.
It's a stacked deck. the cards are in a specific circular order that looks random but isn't. and by knowing what the last card is you can tell where every other card is.
you can cut the deck as often as you like so long as the order remains the same. but you can't shuffle it randomly. you can do fake shuffles so long as the cards remain in same order. you can even cut the deck so long as the circular order remains the same.
and then he uses whatever formula or pattern that he used to stack the order of the deck to figure out which position the named card is.

Tara Ashraf make sure you set the stack up right, also make sure your math is right say the card was the 3 of clubs. 4-3=1x4=4-3=1st.
Subtract the value of the card from the value of the card on bottom with the same suit. Make sure your times that by 4 and subtracting it from the offsuit.

Didn't David ask for an arbitrary location instead of naming the location? Obviously, done this way, this is easily done with a memorized deck. This isn't an interesting reveal if the presenter gets to choose the location.

That's because he counted in relation to 10 of spades. The addition of 13 was only for the 4 of hearts.

Smocin Lee I Usually put the card back and keep using the deck. Or give the card to the spectator. Most tricks I perform don’t require a full deck.

He put 1 card in a specific location and closed the box, then Jimmy named the 9 of spade. "He gave Jimmy the choice of that card being 1st or 2nd position " .
When you give a spectator a free choice, that's not Maths, but advanced magic using "A special deck"

Any Girl Any Night Any Bar (AGANAB) Walk into a bar. Count the girls. Divide that number by three and round off to the closet whole number. Then, choose the one girl you want to sleep with that night. Count how many girls are to her left up to four. Count how many girls are to her right. Subtract four from the number on her right and if its a seven digit number you can call her and say, "Hey, it's the guy in the blue shirt three feet away. Bet you're wondering how I got your number, right?" When she says, "Yeah," but then asks why you had to count all the girls in the whole place when you came in and divide by three, tell her, "I'm doing the magic around here, but if you must know, that was to get your area code."
