The amount of styles this album has makes it a contender for Album of the Year. I still think that Currents and Sleep Token have it beat with "The Death We Seek" and "Take Me Back To Eden" respectively, but "Life Is But a Dream" is easily in 3rd place for AOTY in my opinion. It's that good.

It's less surprising when you consider that 20 year old A7X conjured Warmness on the Soul, and slapped that piano ballad on a hardpunk metalcore record back in 2001. The world was never ready for what the boys had in store. 🖤
I knew exactly and it’s for that reason I stuck with them. I wanted to see if they would actually do it, actually do what they wanted to do. And that they did.
Warmness of the soul was the song thst seperated them from everyone else....and they continued to have those songs sprinkled in (wont see you tonight pt1 and seize the day) then they stared to take us on some crazy journeys with songs like little peice of heven, and save me ....its gotten to the point where they put together an entire album that is a journey of every everything they have done, and more. So many songs have beautifully done to chaos transisitns that you just dont see. They gave us everything, and a little more
@@montanaoutdoors6217 Yes to all of the above! And whenever polls are taken of favourite A7X songs, 'Save Me,' 'ALPOH,' and 'Exist' do frequently appear right at the top. For me, 'The Wicked End' is too often slept on. But yeah, the boys are extremely talented orchestrators, and they've maintained Jimmy's spirit with a degree of devoted faithfulness that is so damn pure. 🖤

"i leap in the darkest night" "i have never felt so alive" are such amazing lyrics...
Its an interest choice of words. Call me a flag of Afghanistan or whatever, but if you really think about it, the first sentence means that the guy decided to end it all by jumping off a building. The idea that when and WHILE he is falling, is the moment in which he felt the most alive, really makes sense. Why? Because I m 100% sure that those people who jump, god rest their soul, while they fall, their survival instincts truly kick in for the last time, but its too late, there is no coming back for that. You feel that moment as the one you felt THE MOST ALIVE, and its because your body is fighting with all its might to keep yourself alive, but no matter what it does or it makes you feel through hormones or whatever, it wont stop you from hitting ground.
I dont think the word "paradox" fits the best for this feeling, but I cant think of a better word to describe such an ironic and scary situation. The idea that, by ending it all, will be the moment you ll try to cling to life the most.
This shows theres no rules in music. It truly is what you make it and that can be anything A7x prolly one of the most talented groups out there

The true meaning behind these lyrics is so scary. Put a room back at its places (once you messed up with it because you’re so sad you can’t handle even your own room), to leave a letter hidden in the fire blaze (it’s a suicide note), jump to the serene darkness (when you just don’t have a going back point and accept it’s for your own relief you’re ending everything now), I’ve never felt so alive (when you realize what you really done, and now doesn’t matter if you regret it or not). Than the song finishes with an opressive trompet, as in your dreams, you fly away from this world you’re so sick off.

1 year ago today, i lost my sister. on that same day this album came out and it helped me through that time so much. Thank you guys so much for this album.
Brilliant how this song portrays suicide in such a beautiful and majestic tone, and then quickly turn it around to show the true disturbing reality of it.

If this wasn't them they should've changed their name back when City Of Evil dropped. They're always going to do what they want, if that's something you don't like, that's completely fine. Probably one of the most poignant songs about suicide I have heard in a long time, especially one that keeps in line with their theme of absurdist existentialism.
I was 15, 16-ish when The Stage came out. And now that I’m 22, it was worth the wait. This whole album is beautiful, emotional, and amazing. Thank you, to every single one of you including Jimmy. It’s been a wonderful journey growing with you guys, I can’t wait to see what you all do in future.

On the list of things I imagined Avenged would ever do, jazz in the exact style of 1930's Christmas songs would have never occurred to me in a million years... incredibly well done! It's amazing how it still integrates with everything else and doesn't feel out of place, as if it's a form of time travel... given the title and point of the song I can also see why that is.

My brother passed away a couple weeks ago. We grew up together and I always looked up to him.
He introduced me to A7X 20 years ago, theyve become my favorite band for those years and even though i never knew if he loved them as much as me, i love this band because of him.
For A7X to make this song and for it to make me feel how it does now..
It makes me think of him.
How now he's flying beyond everything we could ever imagine, feeling more alive than ever before..
Thank you Avenged Sevenfold for being the greatest band ever and for always reaching me where im at.
I never knew how it felt to lose a brother and now that hes gone, the songs you made for/to honor Jimmy help me through the pain.

You are not alone, brother. Me too here losing my own brother 6 months ago, i never imagined that day would came. And to be honest up to this day sometimes i still hurt while thinking a lot of stuff related to my late brother, a lot of things that i felt was my fault as his big brother, and that kinda feel of regret that always hunts me, sometimes.
I love him so much to the point where i just gave him an unconditional love. We had a good times although not as much as when we had an argue.. im being too hard on him.. and now all i can do is just crying thinking all the good time we had in the past.. I miss you my litlle brother, Misael Simbolon.
And when i heard this song few days ago, there is something that makes me want to hear it again and again, up to the moment when i read all the lyrics, It feels like i hope that my brother would be in peace when God took away his soul.
There's so much surrender, resignation, tenderness and sweet sadness about this song. The theme with the guitars is one of the most bombastic giantic shocking sounds u can ever get from this instrument. S2

Out of all the crazy genres on this album, this one is the one I'd love to hear a full album of. Similar to the section in Game Over. A jazz/metal hybrid album would be amazing. And they have the talent to pull it off.

This song has a “why do I hear boss music?” vibe to it.
That mid chorus with the guitar swells and orchestra is something else.. and the fact that the music degrades and becomes irrational at the end perfectly describes this song's title. Life is beautiful, and then you are on your death bed, and it just fades. And the people around you deteriorate and become irrational. Then it all ends.

I have been listening to A7X since junior high school, 15 years ago. I can't help but be amazed that they can produce songs like this now. I am so deeply moved that it brings tears to my eyes.
It is so beautiful that I want to listen to it forever.
I love the contrasts in this song. It has such a sinister and unsettling vibe that keeps you on the edge of your seat. These guys took their musicianship to another level with the Stage and LIBAD...
This is a band that is doing whatever the fuck they want… and I LOVE IT!
This entire album has me expecting a compilation album in a few years where you take most of your huge hits and recompose them to a full symphony orchestra.
Serj Tankian did this with Elect the Dead and I'd totally be for this idea.
Imagine Nightmare, A Little Piece of Heaven, Brompton Cocktail, and Beast in the Harlot in this style. Shadows singing like Sinatra, the boys shredding the instrumentals, and then a full symphonia orchestra behind them filling in the space.
I feel like this song was inspired by Arctic Monkey’s album “The Car” because M. Shadows said that album was one of the best from 2022.

Speaking as someone who actively avoided Avenged Sevenfold for many years, unfairly lumping them in with other bro metal bands that came and went in the early 2010s... this album is a masterpiece and this song is such a beautifully dark way of ending this bizarre dream we call "life."

Many are comparing it to Sinatra, but they fail to see this song was made of a BOND movie with the orchestra overtones. It hits all the keys when making an opening or closing. I feel that is the mark they were trying to hit here. I could be wrong but it feels like it.

This is fantastic. I have not delved into the full album yet but this caught my ears and attention. Caught these guys live for just the 2nd time in my life. 1st time a few years ago in Orlando when they opened for Metallica but again recently at Rockville. Enjoyed watching them close the night out and hearing a few of these new songs live. Love this track so far though. Fun seeing them evolve and jump into new directions. I have been hooked since Chapter Four as a kid from way back when on Madden 2004.
