    This is one of the best interviews you have had. The sad thing is some 'black' people think education and hard work is for other races not the black race. We need more people like this gentleman in the world. It's not were you are coming from, it's where you are going. His mother taught him well. Kudos to all the single/divorce mothers who have raise their children well and teach them that education and hard work does pay off.

    • @dawnb.1127
      @dawnb.1127 2 года назад +6

      What race have to do with this and who told you that black people don't invest in education?, Jamaica literacy is over 80%, if you know anything about the crime in Jamaica, you would know that it is committed by a minority of the population and some of those young people that are involved in crime are educated, many Jamaicans are unable to further their education because of their financial situation, but at least they got the basic, so please stop this nonsense about black people are not interested in education.

    • @godlovesnaxtess4698
      @godlovesnaxtess4698 2 года назад +2

      @@dawnb.1127 I dont think you got the points made by Dr Haughton. If you think think the crime is committed by the minority, think again. What do you think corruption is? Even former Senior Superintentdent of Police Renito Adams spoke of it and everyone was up in arms. Dr Haughton went to lengths to mention how the youths view "Discilpine" for this very same reason. And the good Dr was very clear in pointing out where the youths get the idea/thoughts/example of stealing/quick money now... mentality from. It has nothing to do with education per se but everthing to do with the examples that they see infront of them, where the majority of the population is caught up in this mad race to get money at all cost and is very selfish ans unscrupulous in obtaining it. It is happening at ALL LEVELS of the society. And of course RACE... especially the BLACK race... has alot to do with it because the black youths, who are the majority DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH BLACK ROLE MODEL AND MENTORS lke Dr Haughton with the positive morals, values and attitude that they can EMULATE. His mother with her humble beginnings was able to convince him of the importance of education and because of the positive values and attitudes that she inculcated in him, he in turn did not want to disappoint her out of RESPECT of her value system. Perhaps you should relisten the interview with an open, non judgemental mind.

      Exactly!!!, I hundred percent agree with the other comments too, but I’ve seen people I know that says, “that is not for me, that’s for white people”. And I’m like you also have the capability of doing exactly what they are doing. It’s crazy man but I have one life and I’m going to aim big.

    • @dawnb.1127

      @@godlovesnaxtess4698 you do not get the point and I think you should read my comments again, I was not referring to what Dr. Houghton said, I think the interview was a great one and I support everything that he said, what I responded to was the person that posted the comment that black people are not interested in education like other races, that comment is not correct, what evidence does she have to show that black people are not interested in educating their children? you need to look before you leap, in other words, read thoroughly with understanding before you comment.

    • @dawnb.1127
      @dawnb.1127 2 года назад

      @@syd5831 yes, some people says that, but look at the percentage, you cannot covered an entire race of people based on a small percentage of individuals that do not believe in education, it is like crime in Jamaica today, which I agreed is bad and has always been bad, but people people watched these youtubers who reported daily about crime and believed that Jamaica is the worst place and if they do thier research they would know that this is not a new phenomenon that is happening, we cannot believe everything we hear, do some research before we accept everything that a couple people said as gospel.

    The greatest resource that any country has will be its people. This is one of observations that I take from this discussion. Dr. Haughton’s eloquence, decisiveness and practical delivery of solutions to uplift our country are refreshing insights. If only this would be the colossal pool of thought among the populous. It takes a change of mindset and that’s what we lack as a nation. With all our talent and greatness within us, I often wonder the global impact we would have as Jamaicans beyond the recognition that we currently have. If only more of us became aware and intentional about the solutions proffered by Dr. Haughton. Thanks Doc, this is one that makes me feel proud to be a Jamaican.

Hope he is able to bring some of this to realization. Find some like-minded persons Dr. Haughton & make it happen. Yes, I understand the populace & the ignorance of some & satisfaction of status quo of the others who nuh want nuhbody fi come 'rock di boat'. Jamaica, when will we learn🤔.

    This is an interview that everyone should hear. The young can learn how to create a positive path for themselves and the Elders could learn to change their thinking and work to rectify their legacy. I applaud the Dr. Haughton for being so grounded, down to earth and so relatable. I pray he will stay in Jamaica and the people will listen, learn and change their thinking to improve the sustainability of the country. Thank you Yendi for this powerful interview.

    This was an incredible interview omg, it's one I didn't know I needed, so many gems being spoken. If education was pushed more in Jamaica people would be better off, the system is terrible and that's why crime can't done

    Another one!!! Another great one Yendi. Loved the easy flow of this conversation and the many gems dropped by André. Hoping this conversation will drop in the feed of our young people, especially the males. If people never understood the importance that nurturing by a woman plays in a boy's life, listen closely to André. This is one reason Mother's Day is a huge event on any calendar. Big up Yendi💛💚🖤🇯🇲

    Dr. Haughton is always so riveting and so inspiring. Really admire this guy's mind and the way he vocalizes his thoughts so that his content meets you where you are mentally but still have valuable takeaways.
    Fabulous interview as always Yendi and I adore how you just allowed him to talk rather that pepper him with questions...not to say you always do that but it was important to see how he was allowed to transition from one idea to the next organically. I wish every young man especially Jamaicans but globally, takes the time to consume this interview. Love it.

    Thanks for this 🙏🙏
    Cause every one cant be lawyers and doctors etc we need the other professions to
    And even when a man is not academically qualified his great skilled levels is need as a boss mechanic,carpenters, farmer, plumber ,seamstress tailor, fishermen etc sometimes just a chance has to be given and everything will then fall into place

    Goose bump all over me. Jamaica can only get better if we can hand pick just ten of this mind set, that possess this level of understanding and wisdom to govern this country. I see a man who love his country and want the best for it. Corruption is blocking our potencial to be the greatest caribbean Island.

    Why can't Jamaica have people like this man running the country. He reminds me of the Hon. Michael Manley who truly had the best interest of Jamaica at heart. This is not a PNP or JLP comment so don't come at me with that. I'm neither JLP nor PNP, I'm a Jamaican, who loves Jamaica, living abroad, wishing I could feel safe enough to return home to live. I could listen to this gentleman reason all day.
