You where in diapers when this dunk contest took place so cool you enjoyed it. BTW this hoop don't look regulation kinda like hoops you dunk on but hey it looks like you most likely would have won this dunk contest if you competed in it Isaiah👍
I attended one of these games. I'm pretty sure the year was 1989. Cell phones weren't invented yet. There was a dunking event featuring Jordan, Wilkins and Ron Harper after the game. I remember Spike Lee was one of the coaches and Mike Tyson or his security person punched a heckler in the stands and walked right past me while quickly exiting. It was great. I got to meet all the players and shake hands with them. Thanks for posting. Good stuff. Shout out Orlando Magic OG's, Scott and Penny in this video and of course T-Mac. Go Magic! R.I.P. to my late wife Elaine. We had so many great times. I miss you my Queen. This is another great memory of our time together. Blessings to your family. Many thanks again for posting this. Blessings.
Tyson wrote in his autobiography "Undisputed Truth" that his bodyguard punched a guy out at a Lakers game. I knew that couldn't be possible, but he probably meant this" Magic Midsummer" classic your referring to.
Yoooooo real piece of history right here!!! This makes me miss the 90s, the vibe was genuinely hiphop! This T-Mac vs Kobe face off was insane for that period! I had seen some very short extract or photos of Kobe’s elbow dunk, but first time with this angle! He already had that killer mentality! We miss you Mamba!
Wow I remember being a kid n 97.m seeing this clip of only Brent Barry's dunk on nba inside stuff and him doing the bankhead bounce after but never saw the rest of the hoop footage.. This is pure gold
This is a time capsule for real lol this was held at the forum in inglewood which doesnt exist anymore and then you see people like Stephon Marbury, Michael Finley, Jerry Stackhouse, Penny Hardaway, Brent Barry, Dennis Scott, Magic Johnson himself in a uniform, a young Ray Allen... crazy man
People don't talk about MIchael Finley but he was a great player. Could have been a lot more, don't know exactly what stopped him, but he was extraordinary.
Midsummer Nights Magic was ALWAYS bomb in the day. Hard to believe it was so long ago. That was my time and just watching this makes me wanna pick up a basketball and go outside. And it's 3:30 in the morning right now. LOL...
The 90s was legendary. Starbury T-MAC, Mamba, Stackhouse even see Antoine Walker in the beginning! Won’t get a draft like that ever again. Everyone enjoying themselves. Also not a single cell phone in sight 👌🏼
Kobe with his arm in the net before Vince. Never seen this. I wish this could be shown to all the players who's still with us to get their memories of it.
Kobe, T-mac, Ray Allen, Penny, Marbury, Finley, Brent Barry, Stackhouse.. All good memories
The late 90s had the best young talent ever
Wow. Young Kobe with the elbow dunk before Vince. My mouth dropped to the floor when I saw that.....
DAWG! I was baffled
This is so cool, thanks for uploading
Glad you enjoyed it, Zay!
You where in diapers when this dunk contest took place so cool you enjoyed it. BTW this hoop don't look regulation kinda like hoops you dunk on but hey it looks like you most likely would have won this dunk contest if you competed in it Isaiah👍
Mamba and T-Mac have always been on the same energy wavelength 💪🏼
Waiiiiit KOBE hit that dunk before Vince was even in the league!!!
T-MAC was amazing
T-Mac and Kobe had some phenomenal dunks!!

You nailed it! 1989 they went wild
Tyson wrote in his autobiography "Undisputed Truth" that his bodyguard punched a guy out at a Lakers game. I knew that couldn't be possible, but he probably meant this" Magic Midsummer" classic your referring to.
This is far more exciting and entertaining than the 2024 slam dunk contest 😂😂😂
Far more exciting than the whole all star weekend.
This era of the nba was the best. Hands down. So much talent in the league.
Brent's dunk was fire🔥with dance celebration while they playing stomp😂😂😂
Not Kobe with the exact same dunk before Vince Carter did it!!!😲😲
But Vince Did It Televised whilst Kobe did it on hidden tapes that we didn’t know at the time. But Vince was Iconic
Kobe and Vince were teammates as teenagers on an AAU team
He didn't do it like Vince though lol
He the cre8r.. that’s 4 the h8rs!
All yall Wrong,Roy Henson did it 1st in 1986 while warming up for the DUNK CONTEST.
The fact that Kobe never said "I did that dunk first" tells you a lot about him.
FACTS
He didn't do any of these dunks first, the honey dip was done by Barry Hardy, but I get your point about him being humble
Brent Barry doing a praise dance is what I needed to start my day!😅
Must have watched it 10 times
That's unbelievable never seen these tape before. Kobe
Yeah this was crazy
So many great player’s in one place, KOBE will always be my favorite
First elbow dunk! Mamba Forever!
Maybe for KB, cause that's an 80s dunk .....Vince been doing that since college
This was awesome. A bunch of you superstars taking turns dunking. Way better than the last few dunk contests.
I miss this era !
Penny was great player, wish he didn’t get injured.
Kobe RIP 🙏🏻
Barry's celebration to that amazing dunk was a major highlight.
Kobe and T Mac went crazy omg 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yoooooo real piece of history right here!!! This makes me miss the 90s, the vibe was genuinely hiphop!

This was a NBA era of str8 ballers! Kobe 🙏🏾🕊️ R.I.P it’s still hard to believe.
This was straight legendary! Penny Tmac Kobe Stackhouse Brent Barry and Ray Allen and Mike Finely are all some of the best dunkers ever to play.
Penny, T-Mac and Kobe, three legends, just amazing, thank you for upload this video!
T Mac will always be among the top 10 NBA dunkers of all time
Kobe and Mcgrady was going ham!!!
Tmac was crazy wit it
Kobe been my favorite player since forever...but man if T-mac could have stayed healthy..
Iv always said it if TMac would of stayed healthy he would of been in the top 10
Fly High Bean
Same thing with Penny Hard away!😃
This is super legendary. Deserves more views.
Stomp playing in the background the whole time definitely certifies this as a late 90s moment…the memories!
Man Brent Barry had some hops, dude was still going up when he dunked it :D
He's in the free throw line dunk elite group.
Barry did some crazy stuff. 😮
Yooo I wasn’t expecting that
Kobe bean 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 But TMac was just ridiculous 😭
it's nice to see penny and kobe smile.
This All Star group is absolutely legendary!!!
Tmac was different, insane agility for his height! Great video!
Brent Barry with the funky white boy swag. Proper but with edge 😂
The wealth of talent on the court was crazy and it's so refreshing to watch guys that actually loved the game.
Wow I remember being a kid n 97.m seeing this clip of only Brent Barry's dunk on nba inside stuff and him doing the bankhead bounce after but never saw the rest of the hoop footage.. This is pure gold
Brent Barry fucked me up I can’t lie 😂
Brent Barry cooked!
Props to Kobe for doing the elbow dunk before VC.
This isn't even the only time he did it before the Vince contest.
✌🏿 that dunk old tho, like late 80’z old
Naw, it's a dunk from the 80s and Vince was doing it back in 1995 when he played AAU with Kobe. Kobe saw Vince doing it in practices.
It trips me out on how many people didn't even know he did that dunk first. People forget so much or never saw it.

So Kobe did the elbow hang before Vince ? 😮 I never knew that 1997? 😮
Man they all look like babies. R.I.P Kobe 🙏
That Brent Barry reverse was SICK
No cappp
So Vince wasn’t the first one with arm in the rim ?
Nope, Roy Hinson did the arm in the rim dunk in 1986. There's a video of it on RUclips.
He improves it...
This is a time capsule for real lol this was held at the forum in inglewood which doesnt exist anymore and then you see people like Stephon Marbury, Michael Finley, Jerry Stackhouse, Penny Hardaway, Brent Barry, Dennis Scott, Magic Johnson himself in a uniform, a young Ray Allen... crazy man
The Forum in Inglewood is still there.
@@adgee5401 man this whole time I thought it got demolished for the clippers new stadium lol i just looked its about a mile or so away
@@twoodbeats Only reason I know is I was just there for the Lions Chargers game. Sofi is right there.
People don't talk about MIchael Finley but he was a great player. Could have been a lot more, don't know exactly what stopped him, but he was extraordinary.
oh my god, thanks sooo much for uploading this video! miss you Kobe. The greatest in many ways, RIP
Very nice footage. It's beautiful te see these guys having some fun together like that. :)
What a time to be alive!!!!
Aww man, real 90's NBA vibe. Didn't realize how much I missed it!
Crazy this was lost, one of the best ever💯
watching this made me realize...Vince Carter definitely watched this before doin the contest in 2000
All but one of these guys had very solid NBA careers. Crazy
LMAO Love seeing young Kobe doing his Ninja poses after he dunks 😂
Tmac was relatively unknown back then no social media and didn't have the hype kobe did in the Westcoast his dunks were the most advanced
T Mac was a beast back in the day. Overall the athleticism seemed better back then.
T-Mac saw Kobe doing the elbow dunk and taught it to Vince 😅
So KOBE did it first before Vince Carter ? As expected form the best
That shit blew my mind!
Naw, it's a dunk from the 80s and Vince was doing it back in 1995 when he played AAU with Kobe. Kobe saw Vince doing it in practices.
Why nobody givin props to Tracy? Smh
TMac went off!
Tracy won that
Cause he was in LA. It’s Kobe’s home court.
The fans or players?? Because was loving them both
eggzackly
Midsummer Nights Magic was ALWAYS bomb in the day. Hard to believe it was so long ago. That was my time and just watching this makes me wanna pick up a basketball and go outside. And it's 3:30 in the morning right now. LOL...
For Y'ALL youngns out there, Brent Barry won the '96 NBA Dunk contest...
In his warm up jacket. You forgot that part...
The fact they’re blasting Kirk Franklin at the dunk contest shows how different times were.
This is a much needed video
This is better than dunk contest past 6 yrs
This was all my FAVORITE players right here with the LEGEND MAGIC MC'ING the show...OUTSTANDING!!! Thanks for the UPLOAD!!!!
I’m pretty sure this is some of the earliest footage of Kobe with the fro…..so fucking surreal.
This footage made me feel like I was back in the 90's, classic! 🤓
simpler times
Real talk💯✌🏾
Tmac had the most hops in this and some of the flyest dunks. Kobe was up there with him in creativity
Penny, Tmac, Starbury, Allen, and Kobe...👉✨💥💯
A crazy dunk contest
Barry stoled the show lol
Yes he did I thought he was a shooter
The behind the back self ally op 💪🏾
This is so 97! Mark Curry aka Mr Copper, Jordan 12's and Kirk Franklin's - Stomp. you couldnt run from this song in 97 lol
1.T-Mac
2.Kobe
3.B.Barry
I remember going to this game at the forum as a kid. Will never forget Brent Barry doing the butterfly 😂
That was way better than some of the official NBA dunk contests.
So many superstars in this vid! That's real basketball!
More entertaining than most of the nba’s dunk contests
Those are literally some of the greatest basketball players of all time all in one place
Did Kobe secretly do the arm in a rim dunk before Vince Carter?
yep!
Roy Hinson did the arm in the rim dunk in 1986. There's a video of it on RUclips. Neither Vince nor Kobe invented that dunk.
Kobe and T-Mac seems to be the only 2 that took it seriously
Kobe Tmac Penny and Ray allen all in their prime just epic
The best part was Brent Barry doing the butterfly aka tootsie roll 😂
Brent Barry had a brotha's swag😂i was so hyped that year he won the dunk contest with the dunk from the free throw line. Dude had sneaky hops.
Yes he did
Dude had one of the most underrated highlight mixtapes in the early youtube days.
This was better than the actual 1997 dunk contest
Kobe’s dunks here are more impressive then the dunk contest he won in 97
Kobe did the elbow dunk in the 97???… and what about the Brent Barrie dunk??? That was incredible 🔥🔥🔥
This vid priceless. Treasure vid ever for NBA history
T-Mac had No competition! His Dunks were wayyyy better than anyone else
He found competition in the playoffs where he choked EVERY F’NG TIME
😢😢😢
hahaha. kobe win that bro.
The 90s was legendary. Starbury T-MAC, Mamba, Stackhouse even see Antoine Walker in the beginning! Won’t get a draft like that ever again. Everyone enjoying themselves. Also not a single cell phone in sight 👌🏼
Y’all sleep on Mike Finley doh
@@JBossDaBangerI did see Finley. I just named a few. Ray Allen in the mix as well, back when he was known as a dunker 🔥
Kobe with his arm in the net before Vince. Never seen this. I wish this could be shown to all the players who's still with us to get their memories of it.
This is a classic. Thanks for sharing
T-Mac and Kobe was going crazy out there!
Who knew Brent Barry had so much swag back in the day 😂 you know they invited him to the cookout 😂 great content tho
tmac and kobe stole the show for sure
2:56 Kobe with the lob, bounce, between the legs.
Kobe was built different!! T mac always did his thang too
this is better than the all star dunk contest 2024
Every dunk contest in the country was better than that hot garbage they put on tv
Kobe did the arm in the net before Vince? damn. And i forgot Brent Barry had ups lol
That T-Mac was just out of this world.
Three things I have observed. 90s best decade, Brent Barry can dance and Kobe originated arm elbow lock dunk. Good vibes.
Someone did it b4 Kobe in the 70s or 80s. In a dunk warm-up. Still, he showcased it b4 Vince.
