The moment that Matty shares he grew up Mormon and that man’s face instantly changed made my heart burst. In one moment you could tell he finally was having a conversation where someone could understand his life and his struggles. Honestly this video was great, but that moment will make this stay in my memory for a long time

I totally agree, that last part when he was talking with the young man that had left his community was very emotional and you could see they understood each other’s struggles. It was really a heartfelt moment and just made this episode so much more meaningful than just a guy eating some food.

It wasn't until I went to college and was introduced to more things outside of just the SDA religion that allowed me to grow more as a person. It's so comforting in a way to see that people have had similar experiences and struggles growing up with religion that I had.

I don’t usually watch this show but I have to say this was an amazing episode ! Seeing people so different from myself but when it comes down to it all, we’re all human and just like the Rabbi said, we are all our own universe and who are we to tell someone how to live, how to be. Just respect other people and their choices. Also made me want to visit these places that had some delicious looking food. I want to try a smoked meat sandwich !!!🥪

I want to highlight the fact about the last guy telling the story how he left the community.
It is one of the most hardest things you can imagine happening, your whole world will change and many of friends you had in your life will never talk to you again and see you as a traitor. It is a very sensitive theme to talk about with anyone this religious and I had to write here that I give huge amount of respect to the guy, to sharing this story and also some to the fact how the rabbi and others react to this being brought up.
Also just the fact rabbi takes time to meet, talk and even share a meal with them is amazing too.
A lovely episode and a great moment, food for thoughts in this one.
    Thank you.

What does “Jewish food” even mean? A Jew from Syria or Iran definitely doesn’t cook dull or bland looking food.
Jewish food from eastern Europe - other than the pastries - are dull(er) than what’s to be had in the Middle East and North Africa.
The few food types that could be called “Jewish” are those that were made for the Sabbath (because of the prohibition for cooking on the Sabbath). In Poland they made Cholent and in Yemen they made Jachnun. The former is sometimes very good - the latter is always very good.
