    So nobody is mentioning how in story 16 she slept with a 15 year old? Should’ve she need a criminal lawyer as well as a divorce lawyer?

      The author did say that case was one of the reasons they left criminal law. They shared it as it involved a divorce, but it was a criminal case.

      It also depends on where it was. In my country the age of consent is 14 so if someone had sex with a 15 year old it wouldn’t be a crime.

      In a lot of places in the USA, even the adults would be giving the kid high fives and congratulations. It's hard to convict a woman in that kind of environment where everyone is treating the kid like some sort of hero.

    I'm no longer practicing, but when I did family law I had this one lady walk in. We were going over her situation, and I was scoping out her positions on things like how to divide primary physical custody, what marital assets were most important to try to secure, what would be good schedule times. She had a teeny tiny difference between her "worst acceptable offer" setup and her 'maximum' setup. I told her that the odds of her getting her minimum were virtually nonexistent unless we had something really damaging, like that her husband abused the kids or was a drug kingpin or something. She told me that her husband did abuse the kids.
    I flip through her initial intake form; I'll admit I don't go over every line in super rapt attention, but I was sure I would have noticed something like that. There's nothing in there about abuse. I ask how he abuses the kids, and in this vehement, angry shout she says "HE GIVES THEM SKITTLES!" Turns out she's one of these super sugar is the root of all evil nuts, and she couldn't stand how her husband gave the kids candy. I wound up not taking her as a client.

    Wanting to get even for the ex bringing the kids four minutes early? I’ve seen that and worse. You can get big money as a family law attorney if you can take the headaches; I refuse to, any longer. I do criminal law, because they can behave better.

      Those poor kids, too! It seems like a lawyer would have to have kinda low personal morals to take cases like that one. It's not all about the money. It's about justice, and that mess ain't justice. It's petty hypocrisy and foolishness.

    0:33 not to kink shame, but WHY
    1:12 I despise this. Being OCD is one thing, but not trying to get treatment, taking it out on their loved ones… Christ. I hope the mother and child are doing better, and are able to buy and spend whatever and whenever they want. Children shouldn’t be traumatized because someone is taking their mental illness out on others.

      It's not even the kink. It's basic gun safety to never point a loaded gun at something you don't wanna destroy. If they really liked that, they could use a fake gun (and it's still weird)

      I'm not into gun play but I've stumbled across a few folks in the kink sphere who are, and they're all actually smart about it and either use a fake gun or an unloaded one. The three rules to kink are "safe, sane and consensual" and that first story violated all three.

    I’m absolutely not excusing the pregnant woman as what she did was wrong but I do understand how irrational you can get with your hormones when you are pregnant. I absolutely flipped at my ex husband when I was pregnant with our first child when he brought home frozen yogurt instead of ice cream (he bought it because there wasn’t any ice cream in the shop the poor bloke!). My friend also started crying at a meal out when she was pregnant because her husband hadn’t ordered her any chips (fries for my American friends ☺️) and she hadn’t even asked for them!
    So yeah I get the craziness although again I reiterate I absolutely do not agree with the violence.

    Story 17 is not a rare instance sadly, this is actually a problem for modern couples is that if you're friends are trying to convince you to be mad at your SO and they have to effectively train you to be mad at them, they are bad friends. It's one thing when like 'no girl he's been doing X almost every day to you' and people help you realize you're being abused, it's another when like 'girl reread every thing he's done to piss you off ever every day regaurdless of how old it is.' that's retraining you to be mad at nothing.

      Ironically enough, she let herself go for a while too. "Lost 200 lbs" means they were likely equally overweight, or she might have been in slightly worse shape before she started losing weight, considering that there are typically weight differences between men and women.
      The other sh*t he did, yeah, that's f*cked and he's in the wrong, totally, but then she shows that she has zero dignity or ability to be the mature one.
      Why would a "successful woman" be so desperate to financially benefit off of his death if she's already loaded off her own success?
      The ONLY times I WON'T take someone's side on them being upset about their partner letting themself go are either the "letting themself go" is a pretty miniscule scale, or when they themself let themself go too, or did very sh*tty things in the relationship.
      If someone "secures" a relationship and then chooses to stop meeting their partner's standards, when their partner doesn't also do that or something else bad, they don't deserve their partner.
      If you aren't quite far above average, staying at your level physically is ONLY hard with disabilities or other health conditions. I would know. I stopped gaining weight the moment I stopped eating in excess. I started losing weight by just occasionally getting off my @ss. It isn't that hard to get healthier.
      If your partner willingly lets themself go and you don't do anything wrong or let yourself go, you deserve better. Same goes vice versa. The truth is never pleasant for those it inconveniences.

    If the “possession” doesn’t involve violence, languages the individual does not know, and aversion to specifically and exclusively religious emblems of pretty much any religion at all, *it’s not a possession* and an exorcism should involve prayer, with no physical contact beyond necessary restraint that prevents injury to self and others. Antitheism isn’t possession, epilepsy is not possession, psychosis is not possession. There most likely has never been a genuine possession, but there are standards for Catholicism to count something as a possession which are actually pretty reasonable.

    I had a client who forgot her phone, turned around and went home, found her husband “dressed” in a ball gown parading around the house. She was surprised and talked to him, it turned out he had built a secret room in the garage and in it was his dress “collection” valued at over $200,000.00. She had been working overtime and scrimping and saving for years so she could get pregnant. Later, during proceedings, we found credit card billing’s of the husband going to hotels and motels with men. During proceedings, the husband went to court in full drag (he couldn’t walk in high heels) and had the misfortune to draw a female Judge with a tongue like a razor blade. He got sliced and diced, not for the tranny bit,but for the economic exploitation of his wife, she got 80% of the assets, including the house, car and part of his retirement savings. It didn’t do her that much good, she killed herself less than a year later.

      @anthonyburke5656 11 месяцев назад +8

      No, what’s rude about it, I often hear and see people advising they are “transitioning”, I’m also familiar with the term “Transexual”, the term “Tranny” has long been part of the vernacular, or, should I use the term “just a sweet transexual” to quote a vintage song. Unlike the Alphabet Soup Brigade, I think language is words and it’s open to me to use whichever word I think conveys the meaning I want to convey best. The next tale I’ll tell is the one about the “Tranny” Father who went to his just pre teen sons school in full drag. Do you want to hear what happened to his son?@@dr.temperancebrennan

    • @irishuisman1450
      @irishuisman1450 10 месяцев назад +3

      The reason you were asked not to use the word 'tranny' is because it's a slur. Unless you can reclaim that slur (which I doubt, given your wording), I'm just going to politely ask you to avoid using it.
      Btw, the word you should be using when talking about someone being trans would be 'transgender', not transsexual.

    • @TheGuindo
      @TheGuindo 7 месяцев назад

      @@anthonyburke5656 "tranny" has 'long been part of the vernacular' in the same way that "faggot" has long been part of the vernacular around gay men. it's a derogatory term which is nowadays considered a slur. you can still use it if you want, but the meaning you will be conveying is that you don't respect trans people. and if that's the meaning you _want_ to convey, and you're choosing that word on purpose to convey it, then people are going to call you out on it and you just need to accept that.
