Terry, what a great video! Oh man, so much wisdom shared and so many stunning cards! I hope to join you as a proud owner of a 1948 Bowman Allie Reynolds card in 2025! 😊👊

Thanks so much Adam! I am very happy with the 48 Bowman Allie Reynolds. It is a nice-looking photo of him. I hope you can add one to your collection in 2025 as well. He is very reasonably priced given the caliber of pitcher he was and that he played for the Yankees. Happy New Year!

Great advice on how to set goals in this hobby so it doesn't take away from the important things in life!
❤ We're so glad you enjoyed the hockey magazine! FANTASTIC showcase on Tom Flores. A true trailblazer!
Mrs. Diaz says thanks for the shout-out, and she really enjoys your narration along with the music. It melted her heart when you said, "You are going to push yourself"...that's what she use to tell her students, when trying to achieve their goals. She told them, you gotta push yourself, you gotta keep moving, keep learning, keep doing....you can do this, Terry! Have fun with it. You're already doing it! We encourage you on your RUclips journey...you already have set the bar pretty high 😂
Our goals for 2025 are similar to yours. Try to improve the quality and structure our videos for a better viewing experience for the viewers. Magazine grading in 2025 with PSA is also a goal of mine. To spotlight this portion of the hobby!
    Happy New Year, my friend

      Hi Dre and Mrs. Diaz,
Thank you both for your encouragement and support-it really means a lot to me. I always strive to do better. As you know, after creating several videos, it’s easy to fall into a rut if you’re not careful. However, the music and editing have made the process of creating content a lot more enjoyable.
I have a lot of respect for the way you both approach making your four videos. They’re not only well recorded and edited, but they’re also fun and really showcase your personalities.
Great advice, Mrs. Diaz, about pushing yourself. You’d be amazed at what you’re capable of when you really try.
I do worry sometimes when I see new creators on RUclips who feel they need to keep up with others. The key is to always enjoy what you’re doing, even when the camera is off.
      Happy New Year!

Hi Fabien, Happy Holidays to you as well. Enjoying what you have is a great goal. I get the impression that you already do, but there is nothing wrong with making that a focus. The 78 Landry is such an awesome looking card. I look forward to seeing what you show in 2025.

I swear i think you and i have roughly the same budget per year as i target most of my cards from that price range you mentioned too. (I bought around 75 graded cards this year). Then i also set some of my budget aside til the end of the year to pick up a few grail cards. My grail cards this year were 1973 Topps Mike Schmidt rookie and 1957 Topps Brooks Robinson rookie. I am currently mapping out my 2025 strategy and list of cards i want. Great video as i enjoy your content!

    • @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648
      @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648  24 дня назад

Thanks Chris! Schmidt and Brooks rookies are two great cards. When I was a kid, the 73 Schmidt was a dream card. Congrats on adding both of those.
It is nice to have a mix of cheaper and more expensive cards. I enjoy getting mail days and having a collection beyond just the higher dollar cards.
Good luck with your 2025 cards. Shoot me a comment once you figure out a few of the cards you would like to add.
      Take care,
      Terry

Hey Terry! Well, all I know is I'm looking forward to another fantastic year of great additions to your collection. I love the assortment of cards and magazines in the beginning of your video. Good luck in your quest to pick up the Howe, Worsley, Baugh, and Layne cards you mentioned - as well as the Mantle/Aaron and 50's and 60's hockey. Pretty wild that you're going to seek some of the taller cards now that you have that '65 Topps Tom Flores compliments of The Cincinnati Kid! Ten years from now, maybe we'll be laughing as we compare your complete Topps '65 Football set and my complete '62 Topps baseball. Thanks for the info on Flores. And that Breezy Reid card is one of my favorites. I'm glad you have had some vacation time to relax and enjoy the holidays. Again, I'm looking forward to what you collect this year!

Hey Gannon! Thanks so much for the kind words! I am looking forward to an exciting 2025, both for my collection and my RUclips content. It will be interesting to see which items will be available to add when I have the money saved up. Going into last year, the Maurice Richard card was not on my radar. I still need to get a '61 Fleer Jim Brown and have been looking, but it doesn't fall into that price range-thankfully. I also still want to get the '48 Leaf Football Jackie Jensen and either the '51 or '52 Bowman. There are only so many items we can buy at a given time.
I am looking forward to seeing more of your cards in 2025 and any new ones you add. One of the benefits of connecting with you through email!
You're on for our '65 Topps Football and '62 Topps Baseball comparison. Your set is much bigger, but I need to get the Joe Namath rookie-haha.
I didn’t realize Flores was the first Hispanic starting quarterback or the first minority head coach to win a Super Bowl. I never gave much thought to the latter. I remember when Tony Dungy won; he was the first Black head coach to win a Super Bowl.
It has been a nice vacation so far. I could get used to not working... until the money runs out - haha.

Hey Terry, great goals and a lovely channel. It has been my favorite RUclips find this year. I love the nostalgia your channel evokes and the thoughtful detail with which you discuss your collection and the players you focus on. I feel great camaraderie with your approach. I’ve learned a lot and always enjoy it. I like digging back into old videos of your’s as well from time-to-time.
I’ve noticed your desire to enhance the quality of the videos too. Keep it up, even if it means posting less frequently. Your channel is such a valuable addition to hobby content on YT. Best of luck achieving your goals this year. 🙂🙌🏻

I really appreciate the kind words about my channel. I've enjoyed watching your channel as well and learning more about you and why you collect what you do. It seems like your collecting journey is becoming clearer.
Thanks for going back through the archives too. I don't want to go too crazy with the technical side because I don't want to change what I enjoy about my channel, but I do believe there are ways to enhance the cards I show and the stories I share. I really appreciate the feedback.
Thanks, as always, for the support!

    Hi Terry,
I always enjoy hearing about your upcoming hobby goals. I also enjoy it when you recap the last year. The ability to collect the amazing cards you do and come in under budget shows great focus and discipline!
The Flores card that Topher gifted you is beautiful! I look forward to watching your collecting journey this year!

Hi Steve! I am glad you enjoyed the video. It is fun to put a plan together for the upcoming year. I don't want to get too specific with it because I have a fair number of cards I still want, and I tend to buy them when the opportunity presents itself.
I was thrilled with the Flores card. I told CK it pushed me to wanting to add some more. I haven't seen a tall boy in person since I auctioned mine back in 2019. They are beautiful cards.
Happy New Year to you and your family in case we don't touch base again before then.

Terry - thank you, for the shoutout. You told the story on Flores way better than I would have. I’ve always like collecting HOF coaches/managers playing day cards. I hope this one is a nice cornerstone to that ‘65 tall boy set of you go that route!
Enjoyed as always your insights into what you collect and why you do. I don’t think anyone articulates that with as much passion and purpose as you. It goes beyond collecting what you like. I just love that about your collection. Not every card is of a HOFer, nor necessarily a semi-star. But every card has a story. And your ability to take the image on the card and tell the most interesting story is no more evident than on the ‘78 Topps Landry card. Looking forward to seeing how your collecting goals take shape in 2025!
    Take care my friend. CK.

    • @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648
      @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648  24 дня назад +1

No, thank you, CK! I'm glad you enjoyed the part on Flores. I didn't realize he was 5th in AFL history in passing yards. I will definitely be adding the Alworth at some point, and I would like to get the Kemp, too. At one time, I had both of them, along with Maynard, Blanda, Dawson, and the Willie Brown rookie. I don't go to card shows or stores, so I haven't seen one in person in about 5 years, until you sent me the Flores. They are such beautiful cards.
You're right that not every card has to be a HOFer or star player. I didn't really reach that point in my collecting until about 5 years ago. It's made collecting much more enriching once I realized that. I'm glad you appreciated the Landry card - I love it. I remember games like that.
I hope you had a nice Christmas!

$33 under budget! Somehow this doesn’t surprise me. I’m always impressed and admire the focus and discipline you have building your collection. Tall Boys and B&W cards? Let’s go!!! Odd size aside, 1965 Topps FB seems like a set made for you. Beautiful background colors, some really interesting posed images and of course the AFL. Good luck on your goals Terry, I’m interested to see what you come up with in 2025!

    • @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648
      @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648  23 дня назад

      Hey Chris!
I feel better when I come under budget, even if it's just a small amount. Haha. Yeah, the Tall Boys started appealing to me again after I added the '73 Alworth. I missed the '65 I had that would've completed his run, and then I was gifted the '65 Flores, which sealed it.
I'm really looking forward to 2025. One of the fun things about the hobby is adding unexpected items. I never expected to add the Gilchrist, another Richard, and the '77 Sport Magazine I showed you this year.
I look forward to seeing what you'll do as well.

Season’s greetings Terry! That’s a great Tom Flores card but I may suffer from OCD issues as I have reservations about having “tall boy” sized cards in my collection. Same goes for graded slabs as well as I focus on those graded by PSA. It’s partly due to resale value but mainly because I’m hung up on card conformity & organization/storage aspects. I’m with you Terry on that 1967 hockey set design. It’s unique with those artwork backgrounds & vivid colours along with the caliber of players during that period. Happy New Year pal! 🎉

    • @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648
      @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648  24 дня назад

Same to you Gary! I hope you and the family had a nice Christmas. I can understand why you are OCD about different size slabs and grading companies. As you know I prefer PSA and well over 95% of my cards are in their holders, but I can't look past the value that SGC and BVG afford for some beautiful cards. I also reasoned that the companies could change the slabs anytime they want, and then what? At least that is how I view it - haha. Happy New Year to you as well.

I hope your having a great Christmas season and I wish you a Happy New Year. Thanks for sharing your 2025 collecting goals with us. Nice to see how you budget, and keep track so not to collect outside your goals. Collecting can have that effect on you for their are many rabbit holes. Focusing on meaningful additions and goals helps one appreciate their collection. That 59 Topps Howe would be a nice one to add as well as that 58 Mantle/Aaron Combo card. Have fun searching out these vintage magazines that help you tell us a story. I have to say as a non collector of hockey that I love the look of the 67 Topps Hockey cards. May the new year be good to you and may the peace which is Christ be forever with you.

Hey Dan, thanks so much for the thoughtful comment! I really appreciate your kind words and well wishes for the holidays, and I wish you a fantastic New Year as well. You're absolutely right about how easy it is to fall into those collecting rabbit holes, but staying focused on meaningful additions really does help keep things in perspective. I am looking forward to sharing those vintage magazines and the stories behind them. One of the things that is interesting about collecting different sports is the variety of designs you get to add within your collection. Wishing you all the best in the new year and may the peace of Christ be with you as well!

Thanks Jim! That is a great Sport Magazine with the Bentley brothers. I knew very little about them until I got it. That is the great thing about the hobby - always learning. They have cards in the early Parkhurst issues, I may have to add one of each. Yes, very generous of CK. I plan to add the Alworth for sure. I would also like to get the Kemp and will then go from there.
I hope you have a Happy New Year if we don't exchange comments before then.

Fantastic share Terry. Enjoyed seeing some of your 2024 additions. Good luck with your goals of 2025. Looking forward to seeing them. Honestly my collecting goals will be to keep enjoying adding more Basketball, Football and Hockey cards. I have always enjoyed other sports but I was so focused on baseball that i did not think much of adding any other sports or sharing the ones i had on my channel. It has been a blast since i opened the door to that. Channel wise, maybe putting out a little more content, maybe try 1 video a week. It's been a few weeks since my last video. .Always enjoy and have a great 2025!

Hi Terry! I’m looking forward to see what you’re going to add in 2025. I like how you’re increasing your budget. I’ve been on the fence if I should do that as well. Like you I haven’t upped it in a couple of years.
I sure love seeing and hearing your approach to the hobby. The Greg Landry is a stunning card. As was the Sport Magazine gifted by the Diaz’s.
What surprised me the most about your goals was to add the tall boys. I like the goal, and glad to see you’re adding more.
Cheers to 2025, Terry. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas!

    • @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648
      @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648  23 дня назад

      Hi Andy!
We had a great Christmas! It was a quiet day with family, which is exactly how I like it. We opened gifts, had a big breakfast, watched a movie, and played some board games.
I decided to increase my budget because I’m traveling more and often end up with extra money from the trips since I don’t spend my daily per diem. I’m still selling items too, which will also add to my budget, but I haven’t factored that in yet. I like to get the occasional higher-value card to balance out the cards I have for a player. I added the Richard recently because I only had one of his cards and wanted another. I want my collection to tell the story of the era I collect when I put together my displays, and having more than one Richard helps with that. As we discussed before, I’m not a fan of spending a lot of money ($300+) on a single card, but I know it’s necessary from time to time. I prefer to spread my dollars out.
I was also surprised by the Tall Boys! I really want to complete the Alworth run since he’s one of my favorite players to collect, and I need the '65 Topps to finish it. Then CK sent me the Flores, and that sealed the deal. I haven’t seen a Tall Boy in person since I auctioned mine off back in 2019. They’re such beautiful cards.
I hope you had a nice Christmas too!

Awesome goals for 2025. I love that Sport Magazine with the brothers on the cover. Great video Terry. I'm currently struggling with my 2025 goals, mainly because I have a few projects that need attention so that i can get them finished, as well as individual cards and autographs that I would really to get for the collection. With that said, I would really like to complete my base run of Joe Namath playing day cards as well as some of his odd ball cards like the stand-up and NFLPA cards. Maybe even a signed jersey. All of this will really kill a big part of my budget, hence the struggling part. LOL

You going for the Namath rookie too? That is the only base card of his that I need but I just don’t feel comfortable paying that kind of money for one card right now. Though it has come down in price. Maybe someday I can say I own it.
Happy New Year to you and your wife.

Having well thought out and researched goal is a way for me to enjoy the hobby more. Many people get what is in front of them, which I’m not putting down, but for me it’s the difference taking huge bites of junk food or a well balanced meal that moves you forward. Not sure if I’m saying that correctly but budget and balance is my preferred way to add to my collection.
Very well thought out and presented plan Terry.

      Hi Drew,
I totally get what you're saying. You and I have a similar philosophy. I’m only putting so much money towards the hobby, and I want to spend it on items that mean something to me. While I like to have a plan going into the year, I also want to keep some flexibility to take advantage of cards that may unexpectedly pop up. That’s how I added my '58 Topps Cookie Gilchrist, which doesn’t come up at true auctions very often. I also go through moods where I want to focus on one sport or era over another, which is why I don't want my goals to be too narrow.
Anyway, I wanted to make sure I had goal related to RUclips. I didn’t mention focusing on enjoying what I have because, like you, I love looking at my cards and putting displays together. So, that is a given.

I think watching your channel is like learning a fun new language. Except it’s not words I’m learning, but a new visual vocabulary of cards with players like Bernie Geoffrion. I am not proud to say I have never heard his name, or knew he made his name as a Canadien or retired or was called Boom Boom or that he came out of retirement to lead the blue shirts. But your beautiful card, and your personal investment in it, kept me around to help me learn all of that.
One goal I’m really focusing on again this year is using the hobby to fund my hobby. I do have a budget I use for new purchases, but I genuinely enjoy finding bargain items and realizing the gains on them… and turning that money into really meaningful items. I did it this year with my Jackie auto (and other items) and it felt so good I want to do it again and again!

Hi Mookie! I really appreciate the hearing how my video exposed you to the great Boom Boom Geoffrion. The Canadiens from that timeframe were like an All Star team and Boom Boom was one of the best players. I knew very little about hockey from this era up until a few years ago when I started collecting the cards. It has been a lot of fun acquiring some beautiful cards and learning more about these players. I read their stories, and it brings the cards to life.
I think that's great you use the hobby to fund itself-that’s such a rewarding way to engage with it. The satisfaction of finding a good deal and then reinvesting that into something meaningful is truly special. That Jackie auto you got was an incredible piece. I look forward to seeing what you add in 2025.

    Hey Terry!
Love the goals video. You are way more disciplined than I am when it comes to goalsI You also keep excellent stats. It's different for me cause I am a set builder so I don't want to know how many cards I bought. HAHAHA.
Perspective is important. Yes, we love card collecting, but we love other things too that are important.
Love the goal cards. Hopefully you can get one or two of them this year. We all know cards can be expensive! That Sport magazine with the Blackhawks players is amazing. Look at those uniforms they were wearing! What does the open letter to Ted Williams say?
Love the 1967 Topps Hockey! You're buying Tall Boys now?? HAHAHA. Tom Flores is a legend in Raider Nation.
I need that 48 Bowman Allie Reynolds. Not a cheap card! The man just isn't appreciated enough.
I look forward to seeing the new cards added to you collection in 2025. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, it is harder to keep track as a set builder. I hope I can get one or two of the bigger cards this year too. I forgot to add the 51 Bowman Ed Sprinkle, which was on my list last year. I would like to finally add it.
Yes, I am buying some Tall Boys now. I would at least like to get the Alworth and Kemp. Will see where it goes from there.
I got a very good price on the Reynolds. I think I paid about $38 with tax and shipping.
Have a great rest of the weekend. Go Rams (and Bills)!

Thanks Tom! The CGC holders are nice. There are a few I wouldn’t mind grading at some point. Many of them I like having ungraded. They don’t have a lot of value and I enjoy reading them. I heard PSA is grading them now.
      Happy New Year!

My goal for 2025 is to get my primary wish list down to 850 cards. I collect football sets. My primary focus is the sets between 1958 and 1967. I sit at 956 right now. I finished 1960 topps in 2024. Specifically id like to get more $20 to $50 cards in 2025. Id like to average at least 1 1965 topps and both 1964 sets in 2025. Maybe throw in some 50's Bowman cards if i can.

Hi Robert, those are fun sets to put together. I wish you the best in getting the list down to 850 cards. I love the 60 Topps set. I just picked up the Bill Wade last week. Those blue and yellow Rams uniforms really stand out.
      Thanks for sharing.

Nice Tom Flores , Sammy Baugh , nice 1973 George Blanda , sweet 1959 Gordie Howe , nice BOOM boom , nice Gordie Howe and John Bucyk ,
nice Lance Alworth, nice Greg Landry,
    here are some questions
will you be sending out any care packages?
so we all have different friends in the community so who are John's friends are not yours or mine and then there might be some who have the same friends. say you go to a card show and you might have a friend from England as an example might not literly be England but out of the country
not friends from the US and your at a card show are you picking up any cards for a care package and send them any any plans on sending out care packages?
Are you going to any major card shows like the East coast national, Toronto show any major shows?
are you planning on participating on any card contest? there were some good ones last year.
I like hearing that your doing 2 videos every 3 weeks theres no shortage of videos.
    Now to answer your questions
my goals are you buy cards that you find.
If I go to any Major shows for any friends that don't live remotley in that area example if Ken Dryden lives in Spain makes great videos and theres a show in Winnipeg I would pick up some cards and send him a package so yes I will be sending out care packages but if my friend can't go to Winnipeg and I don't go to any card shows then I wouldn't be able to send out care packages.
right now i'm still working on that never ending family set about a month ago in November I picked up Ronald Acuna and his brother.
I want to start a set i'm thinking players who played before there famous team and yes the hot corner I would get another one of his cards
this is different from before they were Yankees and not the same as players later cards
so i'm thinking of Graig Nettles in an Indians, 1980 Ozzie Smith in his Padres, Dave Kingman in his Giants..
now are there any Hockey teams normal teams NOT Panthers , Not Lightening , Not Avalanche but teams like Philadelphia where you have players
that played before Philly example in Baseball before they were Yankees Graig Nettles Indians , Bucky Dent White sox, Sparky Lylle Red sox, Mr. October A's, Jim Hunter A's. are there any Hockey or Football players like that Before they were Steelers, Redskins, Jets, Dolphins
Sabres , Blackhawks , Red Wings anybody I should be looking for?

    • @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648
      @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648  16 дней назад +1

Hi Mark! Congrats on the Acuna brothers pickups for you family set.
There is a 1965 Coca Cola card this pretty affordable with Bernie Parent as a Boston Bruin. Dionne as a Red Wing as he was more known with the Kings. Rogie Vachon on the Canadiens, Doug Gilmour on the Blues, Cam Nealy on the Canucks are a few that come to mind.
I am not sure if I am sending care packages. There are a couple of people I have something for, if I have a chance to meet them.
I haven't been to a card show since I was a teenager. Just not something I really have time or the budget to do at this point of my life. Any trips I take are for work or with the family, and I wouldn't take them to a card show. Maybe when my kids are older, I will start going to shows, but I am happy with eBay at the present time.
I have done more videos lately meaning one per week because I am on vacation and haven't traveled for work during the holidays. After next week, I will be going back to my regular schedule, so I will then do 2 to 3 videos a month.
      Happy New Year!

Great video as always Terry. Nice collection. My collection consists of the top 15 players that I think are the best in each sport. I started with Hockey and baseball. Still not there yet but always picking away
