Good one Mark. You almost mirror my situation. Over the years Photojournalism then Weddings then into something completely different till 18 months ago when I started retiring, Bought a Pro camera and then a month ago a Canon Pro 300. B & W Street is my go and am having a ball with this printer. The printer was my final expense (AU $1000) to step back into Photography. Ongoing ink and paper. Hopefully sell some of my work. Loved your video. Cheers from Australia
Been using the Pro 200 for a good few months now, only difference between the Pro 200 and the Pro 300 is the optimizer, I have been printing my own images for around 5 years, wouldn't have it any other way, one of my favorite papers though is the Fotospeed Natural Soft Textured Bright White 315, gives a very nice texture to Landscapes and in particular Woodland images.
Thinking about getting one of these. Needs to be easy for me… did you brighten your image before printing or is it literally as it was processed in LR? I have heard images need ‘brightening’ to compensate for difference in illumination from backlit on screen to reflected light on paper? I am tempted after watching this.
Thanks for watching Ian. I did slide the exposure up 0.2 stops yes. Sorry, I forgot to mention that in the video so thanks for flagging that up. I made sure I mentioned it in my latest video👍🏻
Great video, couldn't agree with you more, it's a fantastic printer. I moved to my 300 from an Epson R1900. I hadn't used the Epson for a while and the print heads in one or more colors dried up. I tried everything in the book to free them up, nothing worked. This Canon has a replaceable print head. So if my laziness ever happens again I'm covered. In the mean time the prints are indeed fantastic. Thanks for posting your video.
I made the exact same move early in the pandemic. In addition to color prints, I’ve printed some old family photos that were either grayscale or sepia originally, and they come out perfectly. It is great not to fight the tone fight with black and whites!
Thanks Mark. Super helpful. Did I miss something..? You went from a RAW file in PS right into the Canon print program? Is there an export step somewhere in there?
Love this printer but man it gets through ink, especially on A3+…..I use the the canon print layout plugin for Lightroom, works brilliantly,no need to go into photoshop.
Thanks for watching. I use a SiderX. I’ve a video on it, filmed a couple of years ago now👍🏻 ruclips.net/video/5WF9F6CyJ4s/видео.htmlsi=LDi3ZlAfoAg2lSAS
Hi Mark. Do you connect your printer wireless or USB. I am going to buy the Prograf 300 so it can be done either way, I just want the best way really. Thank you
Hey Mark! Happy New Years to you and your family! Great video and the print looks great! I bought the Canon Pro-1000 for myself for Christmas last month (and needed some additional business write-offs!).. Have you tried printing from Lightroom Classic? I believe you might have an easier time of it as you don’t have to go through the layer set-up, etc. when you use the Print module in LR.. just a suggestion. Also curious if you’re going to do a side-by-side comparison of lab print vs home print? Nice partnering with Canon!! Really happy for you and glad to see you again!! Cheers!
Hi Stephen. Thanks for watching the video. Really enjoying printing some of my work at the moment and something I should’ve been doing for a long time! I must have a look at LR then and see how to print from there instead of PS, thanks for the heads up. That’s a great suggestion about lab versus Inkjet. I think I may well do that. Hope you and the family are keeping well over there, keeping nice and busy I hope. Yes, great to be partnering up with Canon. More videos to come in the near future all being well. Thanks for getting in touch and take care.
great video Mark. I did own the 10S and loved it. Sold that last year as I wanted to upgrade to this... Will be buying the PRO 300 very soon. Hope you're well mate.
Thanks so much for your great review Mark, I'm waiting for my Pro-300 on Monday. May I ask you what types of photographic papers you are getting the best results with?
Many years ago I worked in and managed photo labs, for that reason alone I’ve stayed away from printing. However, the results you’ve achieved are quite stunning. Maybe time to rethink. Great work Mark.
I was having a hard time to choose between pro 1000 vs pro 300 until I finally decided to choose pro 300 because I don’t print every day and pro 1000 mostly requires daily prints so it for big jobs. I love my pro 300 so far and I highly recommend for does that don’t print alot ❤️
Hi Mark , as like many I'm looking after piles of images on hard drives . Having watched both yours and many many fantastic videos I'm also looking into buying something to start printing my own !!! How scary . I'm now at retirement age so this sort of printer is a massive hole to jump into !!! but , hay ho . I just wondered if you considered the Pro-1000 before making the choice ?
As you might know, paper for images comes in many different formats. The choice of paper is how it pertains to the image you want to print and how the printerd paper will display your image. By all means, do not buy cheap paper unless you are printing images just to give away.

Hi Dave. I’ve used the Fotospeed papers and was very impressed. Like you say, they do some great textured paper for woodland👍🏻

This will be my first printer!! ❤
Brilliant. You won’t be disappointed👍🏻
Thanks Mark. Super helpful. Did I miss something..? You went from a RAW file in PS right into the Canon print program? Is there an export step somewhere in there?
Well done Mark but took you even longer than me, got a pro300 a year ago, love it but does go through the ink.
Haha, I know I know🙈 I’m behind the times but sure am catching up now👍🏻
Love this printer but man it gets through ink, especially on A3+…..I use the the canon print layout plugin for Lightroom, works brilliantly,no need to go into photoshop.
Thanks Martin, I’ll check out that plug-in👍🏻
So you're using the Adobe Photo Shop to print to the printer?
Very informative. Which monitor calibration tool are you using?
Thanks for watching. I use a SiderX. I’ve a video on it, filmed a couple of years ago now👍🏻

Great to see you back in action
Hi Mark. Do you connect your printer wireless or USB. I am going to buy the Prograf 300 so it can be done either way, I just want the best way really. Thank you
Have the pro 300 absolutely love it
It’s fab isn’t it. I’m getting quite addicted to printing at the moment, such a great feeling holding our work isn’t it👍🏻
How long have you had yours?
Hi. Can I ask why you choose photoshop to manage the colours not the canon printer. Thanks
I now use the Canon “Pro print and layout” software, so link the two together. My latest print videos goes through the software👍🏻
That's a beautfiul final print mate 👍👍
Thanks Paul, appreciate that👍🏻
How many A3+ color prints does it make before having to change the ink cartridges?

Thanks, appreciate that. It’s framed and on the wall looking great👍🏻

Great spirit,, Mark.
Thanks for watching Jon, appreciate it👍🏻

Thanks for watching Tony. I’ve been the same in the past! But now these new printers sure can produce top quality prints👍🏻
How many timeshould one print? I wonder how many time a week i should print and how many pages... Any idea?
How ever much you like. Money and time really dictates, and wall space👍🏻
I'd love to have one but I could never figure out how to use it.
Mark, didn’t you have the Pro-1000 a one point or was that a demo?
Hi. I did yes but sold it to a colleague who needed it for a big job! Bit of a regret really!
Hey mark, not sure if you’ve covered this before but do you use back button focus for sports photography?
Hi Ethan. Yes, briefly covered bbf in past videos. I’ve never took to it mind, the old muscle memory won’t let me🙈
I was having a hard time to choose between pro 1000 vs pro 300 until I finally decided to choose pro 300 because I don’t print every day and pro 1000 mostly requires daily prints so it for big jobs.

GREAT video dude, I’ve been pulling my hair out over which printer to invest in and this video was super helpful. Cheers!
Got this one for Black Friday with Canon double cashback. It cost me less than 500£.
Hi can I ask will it support for printing glossy art paper 360 gsm?
Hi. Definitely👍🏻 The Pro Platinum, featured in the sea scape video is super heavy high gloss paper
@@MarkKerton 😲 thanks for the reply☺️ 👍✅

"tigabytes" lol, heads up TB = Terabyte friend.
Haha yeh, you know what I mean🤣👍🏻
Fab image deserved to be printed.
Thanks Steve, appreciate that👍🏻
Video starts at 6:45
Why use inches for a metric paper size? Should be 420mm x 297mm 😁
I get you👍🏻 I’m just old fashioned🙈
For the money Id want the ability to print larger stuff.
Yes true I guess. The A3+ is a nice size but I get what you’re saying👍🏻 The after sales is excellent too. It’s not just the printer and off you go.
In my opinion for a pigment ink print it wouldn't be ten bucks it would be more
I know what my next purchase is for sure. Breakfast in bed for the wife 😀
Defo agree with that🤣 brekky in bed for the wife = new printer🤣
Four minutes into the session, you are still Blathering on.. you lost me
Ah sorry to hear that! A long old intro I guess but needed to drum home the whole “printing at home” bit! Thanks for attempting to watch anyway👍🏻
Mark, you TALK much too much!
Haha, sorry🙈
This is what gives RUclips videos such a bad name. A 17 minute video - 2 minutes of information. The rest was waffle.
Sorry you thought it was waffle but thanks for watching anyway👍🏻
I think the video was great all the way through
Hey mate can you use any paper with these and what ink to buy thanks mate just ordered one so wanted to ask
