I had the overwhelm last year around this time. I just had to shut everything off. I shut down my personal social medias and everything. It was pulling me down to such a horrible spot. I've never gone back. All the news is worded to put fear in you, regardless of where its coming from. I got tired of always being fearful. Its so much better on this side. 😊
I agree, turn off the world, and turn on the homestead and family time. I have turned off what I can, but I also live and work in Chicago. As soon as I am home, I am at the park with my grandson, playing in the garden, cooking up some great food, then watching all my favorite homesteaders, chefs, and medical blogs. The world is so crazy and it can easily sweep you away with it. The garden and cooking has a way of stablizing us. I think that is why God made gardening such an important work for us to do. It relaxes us, keeps us engaged in our microenvironment, and gives us joy and peace.
"Pay attention to what makes you happy"...well said....and that is exactly what I did and started watching "homesteading" families like you, Jess n Miah, Jill n Nate ❤ instead of being indoctrinated by TV news. Good advise....thank you for sharing with us all.

Delightful seeing all the work Meg is doing to preserve food and feed your family. Few kids today have the benefit of growing up in a home like yours. Our daughter did and is enjoying the fruit of that now in college as she is now known for her culinary skills and ability to do it from scratch. Saves big on her budget too. Good job passing the ideas along on your vlog! Brings back memories!
I sure wish I was able to cook like Meg! All that stuff she made and canned looked so scrumptious!!! No one ever taught me how to do that stuff! I'm 62 yrs old.
Love your "inspirational talk of the day". There is a shift happening, towards home, hearth and heart ❤. Elliminate time spent on stuff you cannot influence or control to increase happiness and time to develop skills or focus on family & close community. Blessings Abound.
I have not watched the news for years now and have suffered no ill consequences, just positive benefits. The trickle down effect; I get the information I need without all the drama and "feel really bad, paranoid, fearful" approach of every news program I have ever seen. The earth keeps spinning, the sun keeps rising, the seasons keep changing. Life is good.
I understand how she feels! I finish canning pickles, pasta sauce and salsa, then my hubby walks in with bags of cucumbers and tomatoes from our garden. I am thankful for our big harvest and truly enjoy canning what we harvest. It is exhausting, but very rewarding when it’s all done. You were a great help with your sweet, cutie pie, baby girl. The boys even helped so it was a great family day inside while keeping cool. Thank you for sharing!
I adopted a "no news" policy years ago and have been much happier ever since...like you said, can't do anything about it so why give it any space in my life? Love seeing you all working together in the kitchen! What a blessing you give us when you share your days with us!

We have our customers and life is different, but like you said, you have to live your day close to the homestead...or farm. What a wonderful family day! Ben, I know what you mean about getting overwhelmed by what is going on in this country. I am the same way. I feel it is important that I know what is going on, but ever now and then I just have to take a break from it all when it starts making me depressed. I won't tell you not to worry, because that is just what some of us were born to do, it seems😊. You are doing the right thing by taking a break from the craziness when you need to. Meg, you are an inspiration to all who watch you, cooking, gardening, and taking care of your family. I know doing things with the camera and video-making program is a lot of work so thanks to all of you for sharing your valuable time with us. Blessings to all of you.
I'm totally with ya about the heat exhaustion. I've had it too. I live in GA and with the 90+ degree days with high humidity the last couple of weeks, I've been dressed and ready to go outside as soon as it's light enough to see. I get a couple of hours in before the sun tops the trees, then I head inside, drenched from the humidity, and rest up for the day. "Drained" is the word to describe it and at the age of 63, not as easy to get past as in prior years... Hang in there and take care of yourself. As for the news, I've turned off everything except a few channels on YT, GAB and the Epoch Times. And I haven't even been watching much of any of those lately either. I live my life, keep up with my neighbors, family and animals and only check in to see if the world is still turning, every now and then. Sometimes you just need the brain break...
I stopped watching the news altogether because I stayed so worried. I have really upped my canning because I do listen to the you tube homesteaders. My shelves of canned meats and preps give me a feeling of security as well as my spiritual beliefs.
Ben, your words of wisdom are true and good to reflect on. Thank-you for sharing. You are not alone in feeling overwhelmed. I'm in healthcare and haven't felt peace or joy since all of this has started. We are all in this together and we'll get through it. Appreciate everything you do to educate and help us all get out of our own worries for a time while watching.
That's great getting jelly from the pits. We never did that when I was little. Great idea. I had heat exhaustion about 6 years Ago now I'm can only work outside about an hour. Not fun.
Good word - stop paying your attention to the things that you cannot change. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 Focusing in on thanksgiving & taking those things to God is key. The word "be" is an active verb - that means that I have a choice in the matter. I can choose to remain (to be) in anxious situations, or I can remove myself from those things I cannot change and place myself (to be) in a place of thanksgiving, praise and petition to the One who can change things. Blessings Hollar Homestead!
You speak the truth. I cut my cable, off, don't listen to world news, stopped buying magazine and newspapers. You can't change what you don't own. Looking after your family is living the dream. Do you ever think of your channel as a ‘ministry’? Your comment about feeling “overwhelmed” resonated with my husband. He has felt EXACTLY the same way for a few months. With all the flux in the world, he has really struggled with “…the right thing to do next.” So thank you for your timely comment. And thank you for continuing to make more content. God used you to bring him comfort, today. That’s a ministry :)

Good for you, Ben. I stopped watching the news last year. Why they always broadcast bad news without showing positive news puzzles me. It has a huge impact on one's well being!
I recently got rid of social media because of the toxic and anxiety inducing stuff going on in our country right now and it’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I am so so much more happy, calm, and productive. It’s been eye opening how overwhelming the world outside my own farm can get. Getting back to concentrating on my small happy world has been amazing! Great advice, thank you for sharing!
This was the ideal, perfect day on the homestead. Take care of animals, take care of the garden, prep things for canning. Dinner. Enjoying the air conditioning on a scorching hot day. I hope to attain some version of this heaven someday :)
Love the way the lighting in your kitchen is. It looks like it helps a lot to have the light strip there. Meg, you did a great job making a sausage and biscuits breakfast, canning cherries, making bread, making cherry jelly, and then making dinner! It was fun to see your side of things. I'm glad to see the boys help you pit the cherries too. It was fun to see you work together on food preparation. I'm sure you'll love having those cherries during the winter! I agree with Ben that there is not very much "good" news out there and things don't seem to make much sense and we can't change it so we should ignore it and live our lives. I've had that doom and gloom feeling myself. I don't watch the news or listen to the radio anymore. I feel much better now! Thanks for sharing your lives with us. It is really nice to enjoy your family.

I live a life that is blessed, I often don’t know how to give the thanks that is deserved for such a life. I have rediscovered the faith I was taught as a child and am learning to grow in the glory and the power of the Holy Spirit. I spent many years afraid of life, and now I have no fears as I wear the armor of God. I am amazed to live in this time as we watch our savior battle the forces of evil. We choose the side of good, and we trust in God as we are prepared to defend our homes and our faith from those who might do us harm. I watch zero television and choose to watch those you tube videos that help me to become more close to the land and how to prepare for what may lie ahead. Stay strong, stay faithful
Wise words Ben. I’m in the same spot with all negative stuff lately. There’s enough of that stuff so I refuse to contribute any more. Sometimes I find myself getting caught up in other people and their drama but I’ve found the skill to smile and nod and politely remove myself. The circle gets smaller but it’s a happy circle 😊

Amen 100%
Yep…I gave up Facebook over two months ago and my stress level has really gone down. I will just keep watching my favorite homesteading RUclips families and all will be good!
We're all feeling it. But I'm with you, just concentrate on the homestead and family 💚
🙏🏻😊🙏🏻😊🙏🏻😊🙏🏻😊🙏🏻😊🙏🏻
Amen
Give all your cares and worried to GOD, he will help, in his time.
What a lovely family.
Oh sweet man,,,I've been following ya'll since California, but I'm more of a watcher than a poster..But this past year I was paying attention to everything,,And started feeling overwhelmed and started getting angry with things I couldn't control..I've turned off all news from RUclips and other social media, and started just enjoying what We have been blessed with trying to improve on it! So definitely understand what you're feeling..Enjoy your beautiful family and what you have, worry about ya'll!The world outside isn't going anywhere soon good or bad.. I have missed your videos, Buggy is getting so big!! Hugs to you and yours. Embrace the peace in your mind and do you
I had the overwhelm last year around this time. I just had to shut everything off. I shut down my personal social medias and everything. It was pulling me down to such a horrible spot. I've never gone back. All the news is worded to put fear in you, regardless of where its coming from. I got tired of always being fearful. Its so much better on this side. 😊
While lying in my hospital bed, watching y’all truly helps with the healing process. ✊🏼🎈
Get well soon so that you can go home 💐
I hope you have a good recovery. Get Well
Feel better soon!
Praying for a speedy recovery.
Hugs, at least you can have your extended families in the hospital room! Speedy recovery 👑❣
That was precious baby yells leans over to kiss momma. Priceless. God Bless
"Pay attention to what makes you happy"...well said....and that is exactly what I did and started watching "homesteading" families like you, Jess n Miah, Jill n Nate ❤ instead of being indoctrinated by TV news. Good advise....thank you for sharing with us all.
Im with you. I too wasted a lot of energy wondering the what if’s but due to an illness I realise get rid of the stuff in our life that we can’t change and start just living. It’s great such a burden lifted from my shoulders.
I stopped watching news and all the silliness last year. No positive input for me.
'When you're feeling overwhelmed, maybe it's time to re-address what you're paying attention to'. THANK YOU.
The best thing I did for my mental health and self care was turn all the NEWS OFF! From every single station in January. It’s nothing but ‘Fear’ and began getting into nature every morning and now I am so calm and peaceful. Every time I see your strong healthy beautiful boys it fills me with joy. How proud you must be to have all that help on the land and how protected Buggies going to be 😊♥️🌿 🍒
Shoot the TV. Sell it. Just don't watch the programming. 😁
I cancelled Dish in January and disconnected both t.v.s. Haven’t missed them at all.
I did cherries this year. I never thought of boiling the seeds to get the juice from them. I remember to do that next year. Thank you sharing that.
I agree, when I saw that I was like wow!
Ok Meg… there is a cookbook of your talents right there….I’m 60 and my bread isn’t anywhere awesome looking as yours…just a suggestion 💁♀️
Mine either! The loaves and buns look delicious. I'm trying different recipes to get one that will be a good sandwich bread and buns. Meg, you wouldn't wanna share your recipe, would you?🤗
I'd for sure buy a Meg Hollar's Homestead Kitchen Cookbook!
Good tip on the cherries.
I’d love to see a vid on how u make ur bread. I’ve tried and tried but am doing something wrong
Meg is the new Superhero of homesteading. She’s definitely putting in the work. May God bless you all.
You are not the only one who is overwhelmed 💕
Right! I appreciate him for being so transparent about his feelings. He is not alone. I've been having to prioritize exposing myself to what fuels me and doesn't cause me anxiety or frustration. The garden is my sacred space. Watching my "RUclips homestead families" are my favorite pastimes!
@@liltbennet - Well said. I too turn to my favourite homestead families to destress
from following non MSM v a x x updates & current events.
I found 2 new families to follow & they are
a hoot. Dad takes his boys out on camping/exploring expedition's. It's called Outdoor Boys.
Apparently they have another channel, under a different name. I haven't checked it out
as yet.
And the 2nd one is Arms Family Homestead.
The July 31, 2021 video is cool.
Check them both out.
Y'all my favorite family if my pc allows this to go thrugh , whats the best way to get rid of skunks, they are eating up my lively hood in the garden? Thank you. a Canadian. God is still not overwhelmed.yeah...
@@PetraKryvinoff Get rid of piles of rocks/wood as skunks like to dig their dens under an area protected from the weather. Do not feed dogs or cats outside as it will attract skunks. As well as nuts, fruits, or vegetables left on the ground.
thats FOR SURE!!
I had to take a break from following the world situation about 6 months ago. Depression was setting in and it's not worth worrying over things we can't fix. I still watch just enough, but mostly fill my head with happy things and concentrate on what makes my Lord happy with me. Blessings to you and your family! ❤️
The baby is getting so big. Cute was ever.
Seeing MORE of that little girl of yours and her bright smile sure brings joy to my life. I could watch Meg cook all day everyday as well.
I agree 👍💯
I sure wish I was able to cook like Meg! All that stuff she made and canned looked so scrumptious!!! No one ever taught me how to do that stuff! I'm 62 yrs old.
@@donnalong4218 I'm 50 and learning now! 😊
That’s a terrible view, in my opinion. You *can* do something about it. Most people aren’t willing to put in the effort though. Ignoring it or only complaining about it does nothing.
@@carmp3fan that's one way to look at it. I still vote and I don't complain. I'm not saying no one can do anything about it, but I can't. I do my part in small ways...be kind to others, treat everyone as an equal and with respect... it's the difference I feel I can make. For anyone who can do more, I applaud you, respect your endeavors and wish you happiness and peace.
I adopted a no television policy last year I'm over their hate and propaganda I seriously don't miss it at all.
@@lance9249 I've watched so many old westerns these past weeks its laughable! No stress, no problem except falling asleep in my chair after too much work last year!
Yes! Thank you for the reminder that stepping away from all the “news” of things that are out of our control can bring great peace. Love watching you guys!
While it does get overwhelming, you have to keep a "wary eye on the horizon" dont let it consume you but keep watch. I get up pray, take some time to read news (we have no tv) then pray some more and head on about my day. In the evening I read a bit more then pray even more! Thats what I do. I keep up with what's going on but continue to do what I do. If anything it kinda gives me more of a push to get more things done. Keep doing what you do, keep your faith, we know who wins😉😊 many blessings to your beautiful family. Oh btw is that biscuit recipe anywhere in your videos? Looked amazing😋
Love this comment. And I want all the breads recipies! And the black eyed peas! If i could make these well be big brownie points for my fiancee.
RULE #1 - Keep your larder full! That was my Grandma Hazel's advice....Our farm has been shut down to the public since March 2020. We have our customers and life is different, but like you said, you have to live your day close to the homestead...or farm. Good to see what a beautiful home environment you both have created for your family ~ Diane
Where your attention goes, energy flows. Focus on the world you want. ♥️

Tracy Shackleton, well said!
That Meg she has it going on! Great job guys. I have followed your family since CA and must say I just love you all even though you don't know me. You are my kind of family. Have a great evening! Greetings from Wisconsin. Karen
Know what you mean I removed all the negative out of my life….Feel so much better
It's nice to see a mom homesteader working so hard instead of having everyone else serve her while she lays around.. the reality is most of us mom's throughout generations would have to work to keep the family alive and your wife is anything but lazy refreshing
So excited to have a kitchen episode! That's my jam! More canning and cooking, please
Yes yes yes please 🙏
THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING THE KITCHING FEELS HOMMY WITH ALL THE GOODIES
Been teaching our teenage girls to have their priorities in order. Putting the Lord first will set everything in place. Hoping to encourage yall in looking to God for all your blessings. Love the videos!
That is solid truth!!
Yep, we all need to make sure we have the oil in our lamps!
Amen, love the word my brother
Hi..... Meg and Ben nice to see you, thank you for showing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐖🌱🏡🎥👍👍👍
Not fun.
Me too. If I try to just get it done, it's a 3 or 4 day recovery. Not worth it.
You and your family have been missed.... Praying for you! Meg, the kids and Bug!
You speak the truth. I cut my cable, off, don't listen to world news, stopped buying magazine and newspapers. You can't change what you don't own. Looking after your family is living the dream. Being awesome parents and raising good children, not to mention supporting spouses are all #1. You will feel free and less tied to the stressful outside world. Peace
What a sweet day on the homestead, nice to see you, Meg is a super mom! I used to have that energy when my kids were young. Just a day in the life!❤❤❤
Thanks for showing how hard she works to keep your family fed. You all are a good team and the boys too! Love your videos❤️
MEG,Your bread looks AWESOME, and you are so orginozed in the kitchen .
The boys do so much , and with out complaint, so great to see in this day and age.
You and your FAMILY work so well together.
My friends are hell bent on watching the news every single time it comes on and then I get to listen to doom and gloom 🙄 there's to TV or radio at my house which I am thankful for mostly because of the pandemic. I'm aware, but I don't want daily updates of infections and deaths. Thanks but no thanks! I agree with you 100% Ben! Surround yourself with good positive people, and that goes for information that enters your consciousness.
As a young girl my family went to a u-pick cherry farm in Kelowna, British Columbia! Best time ever! ❤️
I see you have a pet sweet potato too. Mine is trying to take over my window. = )
Meg gets her work out cooking and feeding a squad of people 3x a day, plus canning, soap work, backpacking baby girl.....etc., etc., etc.!
I am older and have learned this lesson already. You have enough right on your property to keep you busy and worry about. That baby is so happy to be moving under her own power!!
My gosh that baby is a gorgeous little jelly bean
Meg is amazing . I'm exhausted just watching her. Love your family!
Meg, you are amazing. And I love to see people making the most of everything, such as not throwing out cherry pits.
I agree with you! I have stopped watching what I can’t control and only prepare my family for what’s to come and enjoy my family and homestead animals and trust in the Lord to take care of us and spread the Gospel! May God bless you and your family and keep you safe Amen 🙏
So good to see you guys. I watch all my Homesteaders instead of the rest of the world. Much more interesting, informative, and real living. You all have helped me break some worry habits and get more motivated. God Bless You😊🙏❤️
Do you ever think of your channel as a ‘ministry’? Your comment about feeling “overwhelmed” resonated with my husband. He has felt EXACTLY the same way for a few months. With all the flux in the world, he has really struggled with “…the right thing to do next.” So thank you for your timely comment. And thank you for continuing to make more content. God used you to bring him comfort, today. That’s a ministry :)
Mom, definitely is The Queen of Multi-Tasking. And always with a smile. Your family is lucky to have you.
Baby girl has grown so much & she's so beautiful. Boy too have grown & are great helpers.
Dad, it's great that you had a epiphany and will get back to video making. YEAH!
I bet your house was smelling amazing! Buggy is so precious. Her smile is so sweet.
That's a big job even with a whole crew!!! My momma had a cherry pitter, we had some very high level producing cherry trees on the old home place where I grew up in West TX!!!!😋💕
Love watching your regular old day! It does put my days to shame! Buggie looks like her mama!❤
Great video guys! Would love to see how Meg stores all for the winter and other things that she is canning. Love learning from others. Besides gives me time to prepare for our summer at the end of the year ((Australia)
Good for you, Ben. I stopped watching the news last year. Why they always broadcast bad news without showing positive news puzzles me. It has a huge impact on one's well being!
Oh love the cherry pitting idea….we have a productive tree here in Tasmania and have never seen Megs idea….thank you Hollars…love ya work😃
I recently got rid of social media because of the toxic and anxiety inducing stuff going on in our country right now and it’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time.
A lot of us are overwhelmed. I stopped watching tv and the lying MSM. I feel much better. That's cool with cherries.
I like seeing this inside family time. Buggie is standing and talking 👄👏
Although she looks like the bot of you, it's uncanny how much she resembles Ben. She's so adorable
I don't comment much, but dang u guys r so awesome with ur autonomous life style. What a real heck of a great home maker meg is with all her impressive cooking, preserving, and baking. Also gotta give credit to what a good hard working father u r. And holy crap, how is it u have nicer hair than ur wife. Lol Sure would luv to have neighbors like u. And ur so right with ur comments and attitude about all the bs going on.
It's been fun following you guys though the adventurous chapter's of life!! Also the addition to the family and watching the kids grow! Your story was extremely touching right from the beginning! 🥰
I really loved watching Meg in the kitchen…what a powerhouse of a woman💜💜!! I loved watching you guys in the house😘. I’m amazed how all the boys help both of you in the house and out! Ben, you did a great job videoing and narrating😉!
Amen brother, I have been so stressed about the world we live in, so much so it has caused physical issues for me. I have had to stop watching 90% of news and quite honestly some homesteading videos. I am a Christian and I pray for our country but sometimes the world is too depressing. We have to keep our chin up Ben. Take care and God bless y’all for what you are doing
Amen Brother.
So good seeing how BLESSED you kids are...
Ben you just made my day by saying that you appreciate us people has been following you since California. God bless you for thanking Him for blessing you with all of your subscribers. We all love you. We see ourselves through you. God bless you 6♥️♥️♥️👏
i fall in love with this lady more with every meal she makes.
I really Loved the pig head burial, what a great group of diggers! another very cool video folks. Keep on smiling!🤠
Thanks so much for "a day in the life" of "inside" Hollar Homestead. It was quite amazing how much y'all accomplished in one day!! Not to mention all the amazing aromas that I'm sure were wofting about, yummmm!
What a busy busy time for you! Those cherries look scrumptious.....the baby is so sweet. Love the kisses for Mama! Thanks for filming and sharing your day!
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed and forget what truly is important, glad you are getting back to living
I don’t watch news and commercial tv anymore, it does your head in! 🤯🤯😤
Meg, that bread looks awesome, like the perfect loaf, I’m just learning how to make bread so I’m aspiring to make a loaf like yours! I’m getting ready to can pickles, love canning season, the cherries look good and the jelly sounds yummy. You definitely had a very busy productive day. ❤️🧡💚
Oh man...that breakfast looked incredible Meg! Good advice on being overwhelmed with what's happening in the world. We cut our cable a couple years back...no more media in this household. We obviously have internet so we remain connected (selectively). Standing around the kitchen island pitting cherries as a family, that was a beautiful scene! You boys (and little lady) are so lucky to have Meg in your kitchen :)
