- We take you to the battlefields of Kulbiyow, where nearly 1000 Al Shabaab fighters attempted an el adde like attack on a KDF camp.
NTV obtained exclusive access to the camp, ten days after KDF soldiers fought off the militants , losing at least 21 men in the process. NTV's investigative editor Dennis Okari was at Kulbiyow base and reports that this latest attack had taught KDF vital lessons.

Jesus. Those mortar men were either very good or very lucky to hit a fast moving target. I guess its an advantage to be defensive since you can pre site the battlefield, clear fire lanes for the MGs and have fall back positions
i believe our soldiers tried... GOD bless their souls and comfort their families. I was just a bit concerned about the "mortar Launcher" ... how do u aim with that thing? how did it take out a moving car at night? we need to equip our men better with the latest military equipment.

The guys in the plane are definitely the Kenyan Special Forces. But still wondering why our infantry soldiers tried to hit the VBIED with the mortar launcher. For crying out loud, the vehicle is moving and have less than 10% success rate. that's where we lost the battle of kulbiyow

This is an FOB (Forward Operating Base) with elevated threat levels. The camp's perimeter did not seem very fortified. I may be wrong, but that's just how it looked. US military support should include training and use of drones for round the clock surveillance. I know they do it, but that should be a capability and expertise transferred to our chaps. Big up to our soldiers. I am sure they have seen and done a lot that we may never know.

What kdf need most isn't anti tank 85mm shells, they need javelin missiles which locks on target and never misses. That way no vbied will come near the camp to cause damage to the front line.

That KDF camp, like most KDF camps, still looks like a slum. There are no fortifications to speak of, no trenches or berms. The engineering units must be asleep on the job, they don't do any civil works in Kenya, so what do they do exactly? Drone or satellite video at the end?
