Hi! How are you finding it 2 years down the road? I am looking at buying a lathe in this price range and eyeing up the HBM450 or the 250. Not sure about the power crossfeed or not. I am in UK and would rather buy british (well, british supplier anyway) in case of any problems, and the hbm comes from belgium! How is the torque down at the low end of the speed range? Any major show stoppers?

There’s not much I can say other than I’m really happy with it. It’s done everything I’ve asked, Warco are a great bunch to deal with, and I’ve not had any problems with torque and low revs (it’s also possible to change the gear ratio of the drive via a pulley belt if it does become an issue, but I’ve never needed to). I’d definitely get the power cross feed as it’s really useful if you’re facing a large diameter part. I’d also recommend buying the quick change tool post as it makes life a lot easier. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend buying the lathe is if you have room for the next size up (the 280!).

Hi - It's not something I'd have time to do, but if you post on the below forum you might find someone that can help:
