helicopters are used alot in NZ for farming and hunting ect chances are they own the helicopter, they say they had to "call our helicopter" if not a mate may well own it.
Those look like Class 3, maybe even class 4 rapids! As for nozzle breakage, have you thought of extending the jet unit tunnel so that the entire jet unit is shrouded? That would protect the thin cast aluminum nozzle from rock strikes and breakage.
How about using Kevlar to make the hull & jet nozzle & steering cables. My steering cable broke in a very heavy surf line 12ft continuous sets. I got pounded trying to save my jet ski but eventually made it back to the harbor.
Holy shit, I kayaked the T a few times back in the day.. I never thought I'd see a jetboat up that far. Love your work. You may want to look into a Swiftwater Rescue Technician course - A well placed Z-drag might have saved you a swim home.
great music who is this?! and that boat it loks like the boat we have been letting water started!! wow NZ is sooo awesome for this!!!!! i miss the world!
I am confused...how do you steer down river in a tricky section since there is no steering on jet boats unless under lots of power? Just say the hell with it and give lots of power?
Why aren't these (very cool) boats decked, like a white water dory? Then they couldn't fill up with water. The deck could lever-clamp down onto a 2" inch (5cm?) thick foam gasket.
Ummm, you know you can buy a Come-Along winch for probably about 5 % of what it costs that helicopter to pull your boat out once, right? And you can use it again and again and again.
When I watched the first video I was thinking to myself, Id put some foam in there... but I dont have a helicopter. Less dents in the bottom than I wouldve thought. Sweet boat man!
We dont, who gives any fucks about A little oil and gas spillage, the fish in these parts like oil and gas, so change out your kotex , and drink another bottle of vodka, and turn on the TV , and let the grown ups worry about that...you like???
The aluminum isnt going cut it . And welds make it even worse. You need to overlap the bottom with a special spray paint made to with stand bomb explosions. And coat it like 20x
I was wondering how you were going to handle going downstream, considering how much power (thrust) is needed for steering. I'm thinking that you would be going too fast to safely steer between the rocks
Hilarious... brilliant guys... pain in the arse to ruin what looked to be an epic day... Oh to be young again - and as for the GoPro... I also love them...
totally killer! sounds lile a good/normal day, play past the limits, brake parts in a bad spot, then gets worse and your getting wet :-) now your just lucky to have the heli, i have my own back to carrie parts. glad your safe, keep it up!
You should install a hidden winch on it during the initial build phase in the bow..tie it off on the trees and winch it out next time (way easier than tha choppa...not quite as cool though)
You could learn the methods and techniques of white water before bringing fuels and oils into a otherwise, clean river. Least when that happens in a rubber boat, there's no sludge.
boat and makes me want to do one! make one, as if I have to make a flat of your boat, I wonder if you sell the planes and what kind of engine you put all the accessories and I would venture to see if I can make one at home waiting for your reply and thank you for your generosity att, PAUL RED STATE VENEZUELA BOLIVAR, thanks in advance
1Kph bilge pump and a lithium battery would have gave them a bit of time to get that thing around before it totally swamped! Maybe even bigger bilge but lithiums can handle it for a short time like they needed! You gotta be tough if you are going to be dumb though, hard hats, paddles and a bit more safety attitude would go far, way to close to those rocks at speed, and the chance of head injury is a distant place just warrants it, if that is your buddy get him a bucket!
If I sunk a boat I wish I could call a guy with a helicopter
The shallow water made it possible to retrieve.
And maybe some deep pockets?
You can.
There are more helicopters per capita in NZ than anywhere else in the world.
Me too. Thats cool
Never would have happened if you used a Sony Action Cam
one of the coolest jet boat videos on youtube
Why are we watching this in 2019???
Good question
Same reason that when you see a film with Marilyn Monro in it, you think 'Damn she looks fine'. Beautiful things never age....
and now 2020
It's just as good in 2020!
No helmets? Not even white water helmets... would make for a great upgrade for the next attempts!
Hell, yes!! There's brave, then there's downright stupid!
That is as good as it gets. I love the snorkel running into the covered bow, great idea. You guys are conquering some seious water
Jesus boys, what's your helicopter bill on these trips? Goat never had this problem :p
Music sucks
helicopters are used alot in NZ for farming and hunting ect chances are they own the helicopter, they say they had to "call our helicopter" if not a mate may well own it.
Goes by the hour. Maybe $300-500 an hour.
I've always wanted to learn to fly a helicopter, but the funds for hours after schooling was never there.
@@JohnAdams-tw1xi more likely 1200- 1800 an hour
Best jet boat video I've seen in a while

you should include the recovery option in the design of the boat in case something happens
That snapping rope was potentially NASTY boys ! Kiwis - INVINCIBLE in System D Merde!
Respect!
Helicopter Pilot: "Note to self; use at least two strands of paracord next time I haul a jet boat. p.s. make sure it's military spec."
Yea, I imagine a snapped line slingshotting up into the rotor would be unpleasant.
Good Paracord shouldn't slingshot
aluminum boat weighs nothing. until it's full of water. then it's like a concrete truck.
@@ElementofKindness it would just cut it lol
That song never gets old!
From the time everybody was using this song on youtube. I still love this song
How about using Kevlar to make the hull & jet nozzle & steering cables. My steering cable broke in a very heavy surf line 12ft continuous sets. I got pounded trying to save my jet ski but eventually made it back to the harbor.
How much would it cost to get a helicopter to lift your boat out ike that?
Holy shit, I kayaked the T a few times back in the day.. I never thought I'd see a jetboat up that far. Love your work.

Tauherenikau River in New Zealand
great music who is this?! and that boat it loks like the boat we have been letting water started!! wow NZ is sooo awesome for this!!!!! i miss the world!
2012, the year of this song in every youtube video.
What is it with Kiwis and their jetboats and choppers. Has everybody got em?
that's it. I'm building one. what's in it? 1300?
I am confused...how do you steer down river in a tricky section since there is no steering on jet boats unless under lots of power? Just say the hell with it and give lots of power?

Love the "Kiwi paddles" at 2:27
(Old school Safety Equipment) Wonder if they're Coastguard approved?
doccyclopz More like punting poles than paddles, I love the old "No 8 fencing wire" approach.
Wasn't on the Coast ..... so no problem !
How does it float with those 2 ton titanium balls in it?
yall need a winch
expensive recovery effort !
Put a set of oarlocks on that thing and stow some oars in it.
Guy in that chopper is like, "damn boys! Again?"
Why did the snapped cable...rope ...not take out the heli...and you...
It's amazing how lucky some people are; to the detriment of the species.
+chocolate fish I'm not sad enough to respond to comments from a year back.
D-G-A-F me neither

ok, this answers my long wondered question... do some trips not go as planned?
holy hell that thing has balls for the hole shot!
When I watched the first video I was thinking to myself, Id put some foam in there... but I dont have a helicopter.
Less dents in the bottom than I wouldve thought. Sweet boat man!
great save.
how much did that rescue set you back.
This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen
is that a 10 ft or 11ft cope hull design??
Now thats called living the dream!
How do you keep fuel and oil out of the river when you get swamped?
We dont, who gives any fucks about A little oil and gas spillage, the fish in these parts like oil and gas, so change out your kotex , and drink another bottle of vodka, and turn on the TV , and let the grown ups worry about that...you like???
hi there, no fuel and oil can make the river, fuel tanks have non return valves on them, just the same way jetskis work :-)
yes to the vodka ;-)
Northern Cross
Yeah a true American sentiment, you get the two fingered salute...you like numb nutz?
Wow how much did that tow cost ? SEA TOW ?
I was tripping out I thought the boat was flying. Ahahah I was so confused
Ozzie Daboss they don't call it a jet boat for nothing :)
You didn’t see the helicopter?
"to da choppa!"
how expensive is that? Boat turbine and engine...everything together
Only dead fish swim with the current.
Looks amusing for sure; but expensive. Don't you Kiwi's have a creek thats a little less shallow?
+Barry Hatch Wheres the fun in that? Might as well go fishing in the harbour
You seem like a pretty technical pilot...remember, when in doubt, throttle out! Cheers mate!
The aluminum isnt going cut it . And welds make it even worse. You need to overlap the bottom with a special spray paint made to with stand bomb explosions. And coat it like 20x
Bravo Thomas, d'avoir le courage de poste la vidéo même si
la situation est difficile ….
:- )
the boating equivalent of 4x4 offroading.
Ouch, bet that was an expensive recovery!
I was wondering how you were going to handle going downstream, considering how much power (thrust) is needed for steering. I'm thinking that you would be going too fast to safely steer between the rocks
Jack Frost cross that bridge when you get there
Jack Frost flat out!
Yes, I know how to do it if it was a rental boat, but if it was your own....
Backwards is clearly the way forwards
hey Thomas im interested in getting one how much r u looking at and what engine to run
up tauherwatsitsname creek without a paddle?
A befitting end. Glad to see the boat sunk, and glad to also see the operator and his guest surviving with no issues. Karma, dudes.
That was awesome, would love to get one of them jet boats but, alast what little time I do have I spend with my drones and planes.
Hmm...should I install a bilge pump or buy a helicopter?
It is a fantastic project and very nice congratulations. regards
Hilarious... brilliant guys... pain in the arse to ruin what looked to be an epic day... Oh to be young again - and as for the GoPro... I also love them...
how tf do get a helicopter to save the boat. Must be cheap in New Zealand
Do you have a video building of this boat??
Awsome vid and camera angles! What's the song?
The song is sail
totally killer! sounds lile a good/normal day, play past the limits, brake parts in a bad spot, then gets worse and your getting wet :-) now your just lucky to have the heli, i have my own back to carrie parts. glad your safe, keep it up!
Again? What are you doing to that poor boat?
cool= you have a version we can sell in Philippines? cheers mate.
You should install a hidden winch on it during the initial build phase in the bow..tie it off on the trees and winch it out next time (way easier than tha choppa...not quite as cool though)
Four wheelin in a boat?
How is this not viral
This is like the rubicon of rafting
If I had this fun boat I would want a roll bar kinda like you see on the cobra kit car. Thanks.😎
expensive to charter the helicopter to pick up your boat?!
Was there a reason for sinking the boat?
price for the heli ? :O
Wtf u got helicopters on stand by?
love your videos, did you somehow aquire prints or is it an original design?
How much HP does this boat have if it can do this?
Helicopter rescue!? How much does that cost?
You know it's expensive when you get a tow from a chopper.
The dude in the yellow vest it straight bat shit crazy!!!! lol looks fun as hell!!
How much does a boat like that cost or is it all custom?
Probably wouldn't hurt to incorporate a little foam in the hull, Eh?
Ha Ha, a flying boat, like the matching underpants!
"we called our helicopter" lol
what jet unit/water jet do you recommend for a jet dinghy like yours?
You could learn the methods and techniques of white water before bringing fuels and oils into a otherwise, clean river.
Least when that happens in a rubber boat, there's no sludge.
do you guys have plans yet to purchase?
yep happy to help, flick me an email thomashewittv8@hotmail.com

thanks, boat came out ok
i love jet boats... that's why i had to have an RC jetboat...
Looks like he got sick of that engines intake taking in water.
