Hey Mary, if you want to know which character came first, your best bet is DC first, then Marvel. Marvel stole most of their characters from DC. There are very few exeptions where the reverse is true. Prince Namor (Submariner) came before Aquaman, for example.

It's fair to not know, but as a general rule, 7 times out of 10, the DC "version" came before the Marvel equivalent. Mostly due to DC's Superhero comics having started earlier.

After seeing this, I have zero clue what they were thinking in the 2017 release. Adding any one of the expanded plot points in the Snyder Cut would have made the theatrical release much better, imo. The whole thing is mind boggling to me.

It's a running (no pun intended) joke in the comics that the Fastest Man Alive is always late (usually not deliberately) in his civilian identity.
Originally in the comics, Cyborg is a founding member of the "Teen Titans", but in the DC comics reboot, he became a founding member of the Justice League.
Cyborg was part of the New Teen Titans of the early '80s. The team was formed in the '60s with Robin, Speedy and Kid Flash. Wonder Girl was the first newbie.
I guess it made more sense in not having the martian manhunter in the founding seven so that there will be one clear strongest member which is supes

I know I’m 8 months late but that’s incorrect. In brave and the bold #54 Robin, kid flash and Aqualad teamed up against mr Twister but were not yet a team. Later in issue 60 the three, along with wonder girl, would officially become a team called the “teen titans” making wonder girl a founding member.
Whilst Speedy does make guest appearances such as in teen titans #4 and #11 he would not officially join the team until #19. Speedy was later retconed to be a founding member in #53 and would be shown to be a founding member in all future appearances of this incarnation.
Regardless in real life the original line up was Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash and Wonder girl. Speedy was the first addition.
when steppenwolf mentions that there are no lanterns, he refers to the green lanterns, a group of space police who carry a ring (which when a Green lantern dies goes in search of another bearer) that gives them powers (apart from the green lanterns there are also the yellow lanterns, the red lanterns, etc). the best known is Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern who became part of the Justice League. Hal was basically a pilot, he saw a ship fall in which Abin sur was (a green lantern), before dying Abin sur gave Hal his ring. apart from Hal Jordan the other best known are: John Stewart, Guy Gurdner and Kyle rayner.

Some context on darkseid and thanos though in case youre curious about it: Darkseid was created before thanos and thanos was actually heavily inspired by darkseid when the writers came up with thanos. So they are similar in a lot of ways because of that. But the biggest difference is that darkseid is waaaaay more powerful than thanos and is an actual god himself. and the darksied you see is not the actual darkseid himself, its just an avatar of his real self because if his real self tried to interact with our universe it would destroy the entire universe just by him being there. So he needs to create these avatars in order to interact within the universes. There's a lot more differences and a lot more to darksied and even thanos as well, but i dont want to create a huge novel in your comments as im sure you probably wouldnt want to read it lol. So those are more or less the main differences and if you ever are curious to know more, theres a ton of videos on both darkseid and thanos, explaining them in detail and there's even a death battle between both of them explaining who would win in a fight. Which i know all of us who watch your reactions would love to see you react to if you do decide to check it out at some point.

I've never understood the hate on the slow mo. I personally love it. Ever since I saw The Matrix and The One in theaters I have been a huge fan of it as long as it was done well.

8:23 - "The DCEU has this box as well." In the comics, Jack Kirby created both of them! He worked for both DC and Marvel. Most of the things that are attributed to Stan Lee were actually co-created by Lee and Kirby when Kirby was at Marvel, with Kirby arguably deserving more credit than Lee.
Nah Stan created way more characters and he was the brains behind most of Marvel

1:15 so let me explain what happed with this movie . Zack Snyder was originally filming this movie and then towards the end of production his daughter passed away so he stepped away from directing. Warner Bros. decided to bring in Joss Whedon(director of Avengers 1-2) to finish the film. But Joss and Warner’s brothers decided to do so many reshoots it was a totally different film. That’s movie in 2017 was not the film we were suppose to get. This 4 hour movie is Zack Snyder‘s original idea and the TRUE Justice League movie we deserve
Actually Zack didn't walk away. He was just taking a little break. When he came back to finish the job WB has already replace him with Josh.
So basically he was fire.
It's amazing how badly they butchered it too, where the two most important characters to the success of the good guys (in the Snyder Cut) were reduced to afterthought bit parts in the abomination that was Josstice League.
Three points:
1. Gal Gadot rocks a MEAN red lipstick and I love her Wonder Woman armor.
2. This was A LOT better than what we got in 2017. I love how they built up the bond Diana was forming with Victor.
3. I love the appearances by J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter.
"Thanos equivalent" is a very subtle and cute way of putting it. Darkseid is no Thanos. He's no joke.

I'm sure that someone already filled in the blanks about the behind the scenes, but there is so much TEA regarding this film and the theatrical release that it would make your head spin. Definitely take like 10 minutes to google the Variety Magazine interview with Zack Snyder and of course all the other articles to get some background on it, cause it is CRAAAZZZYYYY

Cyborg’s father Silas is played by Joe Morton, who you may recognize him from Godzilla King of the Monsters as the older Houston Brooks, originally played by Corey Hawkins in Kong: Skull Island.
He was also a scientist studying found future technology in Terminator 2.
“I wish they’d stop with the slo-mo, though.” That would shave off about a quarter of the Snyder cut…
The villains in this movie, the mother box, the boom tubes (teleportation beams they travel with) were all created by comics legend Jack Kirby as part of an original mythology of godlike beings. Its very similar to the Marvel characters the Eternals, which he also created. After he left Marvel, he created a similar pantheon of ancient characters for DC, which Snyder used for this movie. You can tell Jack Kirby was very interested in mythology.

Cyborgs suit looks similar to the Parademons and Steppenwolf is because he acquired his powers from alien tech, the Mother Box.
Sound actually travels better through water than air
The thing about this cut was Snyder was originally set to make this film fully, but since BvS did "bad" in Warner Bros. eyes, they wanted to lighten the tones in this movie as that's what they thought that was the problem with that movie. And the movie wasn't going the way they wanted to and wanted to get rid of Snyder.
Then when filming was mostly finished and nearing the start of Post-production, Snyder's daughter unexpectedly committed suicide and he had to drop out to mourn..and that gave WB's opportunity to "fix" the Justice League movie, but redoing stuff and reshooting many scenes with a new director, Joss Whedon, who brought the Avengers together. Which changed alot of his movie as the trailers did show so much scenes that didn't appear in the finished film as that was when Snyder was still on board.
That other version we all saw was a very quick paced movie that barely introduced the new characters and barely did anything heroic to really feel earned..it was just a waste of time. And when I rewatched that version, I counted how many minutes that version used of Snyder's footage, and only counted 45 minutes in a 2 hour film. And none of the backstories with Aquaman, Flash & Cyborg and everything with Darkseid was removed, them making Steppenwolf the big bad guy.
Is just a very bad trainwreck that for some damn reason, Warner Bros. prefers and disregards this superior version which really does sey up a bigger universe..a SnyderVerse, if you will. Just ugghh..that's mostly the main history about this cut, and Zack dedicates this version at the end credits to his daughter Autumn with the song, Hallelujah.

In one of the Marvel vs DC crossovers in the 90's, they go up against each other. We don't see the fight but Darkseid ends up wearing the Infinity Gauntlet and throws it aside because he as no need for it. Presumably Darkseid won

He throws it aside because the Infinity Gauntlet only works in its original universe, every alternate universe in Marvel has its own Infinity Stones that only work in those universes. As for Darkseid breaking Thanos, Darkseid's been defeated enough times that that isn't a forgone conclusion. I won't argue power levels, because that's likely Darkseid all the way, but Thanos has defeated, and taken power enough to defeat, everyone at some point, so power level isn't a great metric to go by either. Let's be honest, those crossovers never play out with any legitimate sense that their trying to depict what would actually happen. It's always a matter of time until the team-up.

Well, the release order IS Man Of Steel, Batman V Superman, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League (both cuts), Aquaman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman 2. So when you get to Justice League, you kind of only really know Superman and Wonder Woman. Batman is debatable since you ARE introduced to him in BvS, but you don't really have much attachment to this take on him. Plus he is kind of unlikable at first because he is all anti-Superman and stuff while Man Of Steel (hopefully) made you more attached to Superman. I know that as a massive Batman fan as I am, I was actually more Team Superman when watching BvS. Mainly because I got to know this take on Superman a little better thanks to Man Of Steel. Maybe if Ben Affleck's Batman had a solo movie before BvS, I could've been more attached and possibly been more Team Batman while watching BvS. But after Man Of Steel and having to put up with Bruce/Batman's anti-Superman behavior, I had to turn on him and side with Superman. But when it comes to Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg, you don't really get to know them and stuff until Justice League, ALTHOUGH Aquaman acts a lot different in Aquaman (the movie) than he does in the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Aquaman is more of a continuation of the theatrical cut of Justice League.

It's great to watch people that haven't seen the 2017 version react to the Snyder Cut because you can truly see how much they enjoy the movie. It is truly one of the best comic book movies of all time.

Also, yes the slomo was the most grating thing about this version. The only time I gave it a pass was with Flash's scenes.

Darkseid technically came first. However it wouldn't be incorrect to say that Thanos is his equivalent. The same as Aquaman is the equivalent of Namor the Submariner. Funny enough Wonder Woman has no Marvel equivalent. So the last time there was a Marvel VS DC she fought Storm. The time before that she fought Thor.

Nah, missy, Darkseid and his followers make Thanos look PG-rated by comparison haha. Thanos kills only when he sees necessary to restore balance. Darkseid kills or enslaves/turns into Parademons all who oppose him.
