Good humor of course Kari. Glad you enjoyed it. On the serious side, I have little use for stupid divers and running out of air is stupid. Take care down there. Alec
@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter I can't agree more. Most of the time, divers run out of air because they either don't check their gauge constantly while underwater or they did not properly check their equipment before jumping in the water. It can most of the time be prevented. I appreciate your reply, I'm a big fan! 😁😁
Hi Alec, Holy SMOKES I'm the VERY FIRST person to comment on your brand-new "published today" instructional video! And VERY well done Alec- as others have stated - you are a natural born teacher. And coming from someone like me, who is a retired 26-year elementary-ed Teacher, please consider this as a totally authentic evaluation indeed! {RE: The liability worries that dive operators must endure: Yes it is indeed a tragic SHAME that we've become an unworldly litigious culture/society, but with the UNFORTUNATE proliferation of attorneys [nowadays one position below used cars salesmen on the loathsome scale....] , this is what we must put up with.}
You win the First to Comment prize. I agree that todays business world of liability and lawyers is a burden but that time a new diver comes back from their open water certification dives and can't stop telling everyone how fantastic it was makes up for some of it. So be ready for next Tuesday's release at 11am (Kevin does all this). You will clean up over all the others. Save diving. Alec
I'm diving a modern Aqualung Mistral but I'm looking for an old double hose regulator. I want to dive it. Perhaps for a couple of times, but I want to turn it into an Argon Injector: You remove the mouthpiece and replace it with a balloon. Second you remove the exhaust hose and put it on a compressor. This way you are able to fill Argon tanks with an air compressor.
Bryan, I watched ALL of Alec's double-hose reg videos. Then I went to your web-site & immediately noticed NO more Krakens for 2018.... and then I burst into tears!
Hello mr.alec Thanks for the great videos its really helpful. Question plz Does this double hoses have purge? I Hope to dive with you someday... Have safe and fun dive
Hi Alain. I have lots of comments/inquiries from new & older divers asking about double hose regulators for everyday use. The story about Kevin's regulator is true, he went to Cozumel, is a PADI certified Vintage Double Hose diver, they would not let him use it. He sent it to Vintage Double Hose for a full upgrade and paid for it. Now its his favourite over his SR1 and Maximus. He was in Tobermory Ontario in July, diving wrecks at 102 feet, 46F, with no free flow. This is the last vintage for a while as I have lots more tech tips including dry suits, to keep divers excited till the next season starts. Thanks for the comments. Alec
interesting he would prefer this upgraded vintage over a modern regulator - they sure don't pack as well for travel - or even the modern kraken reg you reviewed.
Hey Alec. Im wondering when the pressure is on( tank on ). Will the water go up through the inhale hose and destroy the mechanism inside of it? because for a single hose, when the tank is on, water can't go in through the hose. IDK if double hose is the same thing
Not at all. At the mouthpiece of most double hose regs are 2 one way mushroom or 'wagon wheel' valves plus another 'duck bill' valve on the exhale end of the hose. Purpose is to prevent water into the hoses. Watch my Vintage Scuba video S04E14 The Amazing Hope-Page mouthpiece to learn when about this invention and how it changed double hose diving immediately. Thanks for watching.
Yes, we did a red sea live aboard trip years ago, great fun in the water and on land. Keep diving Anas and it does not matter how old your equipment is, keep it serviced and dive safe. Thanks for watching. Alec
Completely out of curiousity: How does the cost stack up to buying (if you can find one) a Kraken compare to this conversion? Purely academic, of course. :P
About the same. A complete modernization of a vintage regulator will cost $500+. The last time I checked, a Kraken was about $700 but the modern design and extra features make it a much better choice for all-round diving. Alec
