I knew a retired General Electric Electrical Engineer who had worked for NASA, and was contracted as a civilian engineer by the United States Navy to spend 6 months at a base in Greenland (most likely the same one in this documentary), and loved it. He said that it was very comfortable, and they even had their own bowling alley, etc. He said that the pay was extremely good too because Greenland was considered an "unpleasant" assignment. He said that he liked it much better than working for NASA in Florida. He said that Florida was "uptight and snobby"... His stay in Greenland was far more pleasant socially, and in every other way. Unfortunately, I can't ask him more about it. He passed away several years ago. He was a very nice gentleman, and a wonderful conversationalist. I miss talking to him.

In 1963 I had just completed training as a supply and parts specialist in the army corps of engineers in Washington DC. My Commander called me to his office and told me he had just received my orders for my first assignment. It was to a place called 20th century under the ice. However a week later my orders were changed. Instead I went to Fort Benning Georgia to train with the 11th air assault division. 18 months later I had completed training as a Paratrooper and Ranger. In 1965, I found myself in a place called Saigon South Vietnam. 14 months later I was in the 82nd Airborne division where I ended my Military life in the mid to late 60's. I was one of the lucky ones who came through it all with a wound to my right leg. And that was not very serious.
I am an old man now 78 YRS old. With nothing but great memories. I pray for all those young men and women who were not as lucky as I was. May God bless and hold them close in heaven.
Our freedom is and was very expensive in blood and young lives. Please don't forget about it when we elect our leaders. We must keep America safe and strong for them and our children. God bless you all.

This may not be the same base that I know of. I was active duty Marine . A radio intelligence specialist. I met several men who were stationed at Greenland. A radio signal is a beacon and reveals its' source. So people worked there for radio intelligence. But, its' main reason was to have ICBMs as close as possible to the USSR. It was considered an undesirable duty station.

However, so far neither US or Denmark has taken responsibility for the clean-up. (Wikipedia).

Ever heard of the USA"s black budget projects? Look into "D.U.M.B.'s"
Deep Underground Military Bases that are all over the US & Canada now too. They are ALL interlinked together, and a man named Phil Schneider, who helped build a couple in Nevada, tried to warn us about them, and why they were being made. Unfortunately, his attempts to warn us, caused him his life. He was found dead in his home, just weeks before telling his family, he believed his life was in grave danger. He was found "suicided" {strangulated, including a bullet to the back of the head} Military coroner listed his death as a suicide. YEAH RIGHT!!

Camp century was built as a secret military base but, promoted in this film as purely a research facility. It was originally conceived as a launch complex for nuclear missiles, but they were never deployed there for two reasons. , the Danish government who owns Greenland refused the US government to place them in their territory. And 2. The US government discovered, after they had built it, that it was not suitable for the deployment of nuclear missiles. Something that they should have checked before construction started. The base was built in 1959, and closed in 1967.
The information regarding it's intended use was de classified in 1996. The nuclear reactor was removed shortly after its closure and all of the tunnels have collapsed. The base can no longer be reached. So, there is no mysterious underground secret military bunker on Greenland.

Interestingly, it's NOT the abandoned nuclear reactor that people are worried about, it's the chemical contaminants, including tons of Polycarbonated Biphenols used in the electrical and other systems.
