      Okay, using the "start/select" button (upper right) select Menu ---> Training --> My Workouts. From there you should be able to scroll down to the workout and select it. It will say "Do Workout." You might scroll down to "View," which will allow you to confirm the steps of the workout before you start. If you don't see the workout in question, you might have to re-sync. This happens to me on occasion, when battery is low. Hope that helps!

I guess if you have a older watch that doesn't send the info to the phone you still have to do it the way you show it .

    Thank you so much for this great information Heather! I have a Garmin 15 and would really like to "graduate" to a better Garmin. Can you offer some advise? Basically I run/walk/run and I know Garmin will do this but just how well. My question is the 235 better at tone and vibrate to alert you to the change? My 15 beeps but I can barely hear it and would love to have the vibrate function because I use music for cadence/motivation. This would also allow me to drop the extra device (timer).

    • @HeatherJergensen
      @HeatherJergensen  7 лет назад

      I haven't used the Garmin 15, but I can say for the 235, the vibrate is pretty good. It also has a countdown timer to the next step from 5 seconds, and it starts beeping at that point. It isn't loud, but it does repeat. I definitely notice. If you are looking to upgrade, it might be a good step...

    How do I add another run segments to repeat. Am I limited to 2 parts for the repeat? I have a training run: 600 meter at faster effort, follow with 200 meters easy running, then 400 meter faster, 400 meter easy and I'm supposed to repeat 3 times (There's 2 miles easy run as bookends.) Do I have to forget using repeat feature and just list the four parts 3xs? If I pair the above in three repeats, I'm assuming it will repeat each two 3xs before moving to the next repeat. That's not what I want. Can you advise?

    • @HeatherJergensen
      @HeatherJergensen  5 лет назад

      Okay, I had to read the question a couple of times. So I think, if I understand, you are doing 600 fast, 200 easy, 400 fast, 400 easy, then starting back at 600 to repeat. If this is the case, then yes. As much as a pain as it is, you would have each listed without the repeat feature. It's a lot of steps, but once it's in, you can save that in your watch and reuse it. Hope that helps!

      @@HeatherJergensen Thanks! Yes, it's from a Budd Coates marathon training plan. I gave it a go at the gym, but ended with little elevation change. I was trying to simulate outside hills by hitting incline and speed buttons up one increment every 30 secs or so and then back down the same incremental changes. Are these distances are too short for the incremental approach? It felt like I was going up and down, but the Garmin showed little elevation change at the end of the workout. Should I have just bumped it up to 5 on incline all at once and stayed there until the next beep? Is 5 enough? How do you recommend doing a hills workout on the treadmill? Maybe this is a good topic for another video.

      I've had trouble with this, too lately. I would encourage you to call the Garmin Support Center. I just had to keep trying. Sometimes your watch memory is full and it won't take any more data, so you might dump the activities to create more room.

      @Try_n_2Tri 5 лет назад

      @@HeatherJergensen I love it!! This past summer I began my quest for Tri and found my Apple Watch didn't cut it (shocking). I researched multi-sport watches and it came down to I WANTED the 735XT but could afford the Suunto Spartan HR. I watched a bunch of reviews and most said the Suunto was the best 'entry level' multi sport and it would do the job. I bought it - $175 cheaper than Garmin's offering.
      I used the Suunto for 4.5 months and found issues - the screen contrast is low and it is very hard to just read the time. The date/day is so small in the regular screen it was hard to read. There is very little you can do to customize the main screen and I found the default info sort of useless really. The actual data screens for activities was customizable and fine. I found running with it a bit tough as again the contrast made it a bit tough to pick out what I wanted.
      Enter Santa (aka my lovely wife) and the Garmin 735XT. I've had it for only a week but I tell you the difference in price is justified. Everything from the button feel, fit (the Suunto has the GPS chip in the band and I found it rigid and sort of uncomfortable really - just didn't realize how bad until I wore my Garmin for the first time). The screen contrast is much much better and totally customizable. As you already know the IQ shop has all kinds of screens where Suunto does not.
      HOWEVER - BEWARE. The 735XT is indeed an awesome multi sport watch and the perfect watch for me. YOU compete in full distance Ironman races - I am told that the 735 battery will not last the race. A good friend of mine races full distance and she had to upgrade to the 935 as the battery life is better.

      From one step to the next, there is not really a gap, unless you program one in. For example, after your warm up, you could program in a 5 minute "rest" if you want to do some kind of dynamic drills before starting the next set. If it's programmed, then the watch will keep track. Otherwise, you might hit the stop button and restart when you begin your main set.

    • @HeatherJergensen
      @HeatherJergensen  6 лет назад

      If you are looking to specifically create a swim workout for the Forerunner 235, that device is not equipped to do so. Other models (735 XT, 920 XT, Garmin Swim) are equipped to create those workouts, but I do not have experience with those devices. I believe the mechanics are the same: create the Swim workout in Connect, then download to your device, but that device needs to be compatible for Swim workouts.
      You could try a "Custom" workout in Connect, but if your device doesn't track pool laps specifically, you might have to manually hit the lap button to advance...
      Sorry, that seems to be all the help I could provide. Good luck!

      @@HeatherJergensen I'm using a 920XT where you are able to do the setup on the device. It is a little more challenging setting up in Connect which I sort off figured out. Now for the pool swim in the morning. I'll give feedback.

      Thank you! I'd love to hear how it works. I'm in the market for a new multisport device...looking at the 735 vs. the 920.

      Hi, I tested the unit in a 20 meter pool after having to create my workout in Connect, sent it to the device. I made sure that the devices pool setting was adjusted to a 20 meter pool and for every 100m it ended up beeping halfway in the pool length, if that makes sense.
      I have my 920Xt for 2 years now and never had any issues on triathlon race day as to the open water swim. The more recent devices in a tri pack comes with a waterproof heart rate monitor. The 920 don't play along when used on a spinning bike, its pretty much good for zone training with indoor cycling. There'll come a time that you'll experience the low battery indication where nothing will work but there is a remedy for it, RESET which is to depress a few buttons simultaneously.

      Great info! Thank you! My first Garmin was the old "orange brick," which I really didn't understand, so I'm looking forward to getting something new!
