    I use this technique too. Another tip I've discovered is to go over the silver with an orange highlighter pen afterwards, and smudge it in with your finger tip. It retains the metal look, but takes the edge off the shiny silver. It also gives a hint of rust forming, especially as the orange remains in any recessed areas.

    I use this technique for weathering guns and blasters, on those nice sharp edges and corners. I add scuffs with a brush and rub n' buff in various colors, as well as rust and grime. Am now following your channel, well done sir!

    The silver sharpie is a must! I frequently use it in combination with the vaseline/paint layers for actual flaked/chipped paint.

    great video. loved the hands on perspective of European Patina and prop enhancements. the episode made me nostalgic about my time living in Europe, but also excited to weathering some projects I have coming up.

    A man who goes around the streets stroking lamp posts, street signs, post boxes and follows up feeding a droid ice cream under the cloak of darkness is my kinda guy!
    Great video James, got a nice technique there :) wonder if you could use some IPA to create streaking rust effects with the gold/rust colour Sharpie? hmmmm
