I use this technique too. Another tip I've discovered is to go over the silver with an orange highlighter pen afterwards, and smudge it in with your finger tip. It retains the metal look, but takes the edge off the shiny silver. It also gives a hint of rust forming, especially as the orange remains in any recessed areas.
James you always seem to amaze me. You see it as overproduction , I see it as style! And we all love your style. It’s crisp, it’s clean, its English, and your a whole lotta that! That’s why we love your vids! Cheers and keep on making my friend!
@@jediknightjairinaiki560 Holy crap!! Its one of those moments...I constantly say dumb stuff like "make like a tree and get outta here!" I think its finally catching up with me!! LOL
I use this technique for weathering guns and blasters, on those nice sharp edges and corners. I add scuffs with a brush and rub n' buff in various colors, as well as rust and grime. Am now following your channel, well done sir!
great video. loved the hands on perspective of European Patina and prop enhancements. the episode made me nostalgic about my time living in Europe, but also excited to weathering some projects I have coming up.
A man who goes around the streets stroking lamp posts, street signs, post boxes and follows up feeding a droid ice cream under the cloak of darkness is my kinda guy! Great video James, got a nice technique there :) wonder if you could use some IPA to create streaking rust effects with the gold/rust colour Sharpie? hmmmm
This video might be about silver sharpies, but it’s pure tutorial GOLD!
Wow what a great comment! Thanks so much for checking us out and watching!
You son of a biscuit!! That lid! What a “twist” !!!

Amazing tip and have been using since I saw you and Brian at The Smugglers room do this, will need to get more pens soon
Yup definitely an awesome technique
The silver sharpie is a must! I frequently use it in combination with the vaseline/paint layers for actual flaked/chipped paint.
Love that process too
SUPER Helpful! Also love the research and shots of your hometown! SOOOOOO much cooler than mine!
Yeah we are lucky to have such a nice place to live, and glad you found it useful buddy!
Absolutely perfect. I always have trouble getting my paint chipping to look right. I'll give this a try on my next build. Thank you!
Thanks, hope you found it useful. 👍
