It is obvious they have been looking at watches of Greubel Fersey, especially the hand made 1. I really really like these kinds of watches. Architecture is amazing. Sadly, thes watches are to expensive to buy.
Thank you so much for this in-depth video! I just saw this watch at Cellini and met Vincent Lapaire and while the watch was stunning in person and Vincent such a friendly and knowledgeable host, it was very busy so having this video to explain the technical details is so helpful in putting context around such a beautiful piece. Really great new release, congrats to the FB team!
Thank you! This is true and admirable watchmaking. Nothing to do with the recent AP and PP releases (which I personally found very disappointing, if not stupid).
Amazing timepiece and extremely beautiful. The only thing that bothers me a little is that if I understand well, the cylindrical hairspring “complication” advantage is merely visual, it doesn’t solve any issues, it is very hard to regulate and required serious development. Still very interesting and refreshing. Thanks for sharing.
Cylindrical hairspring were mainly used in marine chronometers and offer a significant chronometrical advantage in such timepieces. So here it translates a bit into that but very true that on an aesthetics point of view, they are just beautiful to look at, there is some magic in how they deploy. The best to you
Technically, the cylindrical hairspring is coiled vertically along the axis of the balance wheel, compared to a flat hairspring. It reduces the friction on pivots. The challenge was to adapt is on a wristwatch and make it COSC-certified, therefore the watchmakers need to create perfect manual curves on the hairspring. Everything relies on those adjustments and we spent two years to find the perfect curves for this purpose.
Really beautiful watch. One of the most attractive watches I have seen. It is all harmonised in a unique way. A little off topic you have changed your slender rimmed glasses(spectacles)to a broader rim. A temporary move or a transition?
Wow you really teach us so much about brands … what do you say is your favorite if you compare the Ferdinand Berthold, a Lange, Moritz Grossman, Laurent Ferrier, Kari Voutilainen, Romain Gauthier,
So if I understand correctly, this piece is COSC certified, which gives it a range of +6 to -4 sec/day. Does the cylindrical hairspring allow it to perform better than a $1000 off-the-shelf watch? I have an ordinary production automatic that keeps time to within 1 second a month. It is guaranteed to within +/- 2 sec/day. Where's the beef?
Just love what Ferdinand Berthoud are doing. Dream watches. Simply stunning. More from them if you can. Some great interviews with some of the team really adds to the understanding of the passion and skills of the watchmakers.
I just love FB so much. Such an under appreciated brand in the larger sphere of the watch world. Amazing work they are doing over there. Thanks, Marc, for bringing us another incredible glimpse into the world of high horology. Cheers!
A masterpiece. However, personally I would have preferred it if they didn’t go with that sandblasted effect, not that I can afford one either way anyway !! 🤣😅😁 And even if I could afford one, I’m not one who’s into all these long waiting list nonsense.
As much as people love MB&F I love Ferdinand Berthoud. They really do make some of the best watches in the world. This and the Hand Made 1 are really about as high as high horology gets. Of course there are insane one-offs and everyone has their favorite brands but let me have mine.
Les images sont incroyable….. bravo Watch TV Ma montre est spectaculairement spectaculaire Et quel est le prix de ce bijoux ? C’est fabuleux Merci l’équipe de nous faire partager ça 😘😘😘
All your videos with Ferdinand Berthoud are the best! What a brand.
Thanks and what's nice is that we have time to follow the development process, always special!

There’s a really nice balance between true classical watchmaking with a modern interpretation. Thanks for the comment
Hand Made 1 and FB3 are two different watches!

@@user-zl2sc3bg3g thanks for the insight on the marine chronometers. Always a pleasure to learn from you. Regards

Well those were my old ones and had forgotten my news ones ;) and thanks a lot for your comment, much appreciated
A cylindrical hairspring eliminates the stress on the pivot point and reduces friction .
Thanks for sharing this with all of us. Best to you and a good weekend ahead
Tappers down centrifugal energy pressure
I've learned to trust my first impressions when looking at a new dial...
And my first impression is...wow!
First impressions are often the ones to go by!!! Thanks and best to you
Cylindrical hairspring exists on other brands like Montblanc , alchemist etc
True and a distinctive feature of marine chronometers too
Stunning piece with a real design style of its own. It feels to me like a mix between Breguet and Armin Strom , in a good way.
Totally stunning, very well balanced in terms of proportions and usage of space! Thanks and the best to you
❤️🙆👌Stunning
Even the word 'doesn't do enough' to describe the construction of this watch
Oh that’s nice, very you liked it and yes it’s really a stunner 👍
Thank you for showing us 😊
Always our pleasure! The super best to you
Didn't one if the gyrotourbillions from jeager lecoultre have a cylindrical hairspring? I couldve sworn it does
Maybe one of them now that you mention it, but in this video it's a flat hairspring: ruclips.net/video/lmxLAZZ2fhM/видео.html
JLC does have a tourbillon using a cylindrical hairspring.
