Thanks very much - the instructions were useless and I nearly gave up so this vides was brilliant! So grateful to people like you who give their time to do this and then share it with others!! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for this video! The instructions had me baffled but your video made it so simple for me to finally fit the door inserts I purchased many months ago.
Thank you so much!!! Not a lover of flat pack furniture and you just saved me hours of figuring it all out and not throwing it in the garden for firewood!!! ❤
Somewhat useful video, thanks for sharing. My door didn’t click in though. I was really frustrated until I watched another RUclips video which just showed a man tightening the screw into the door insert, simple and job done. I guess it’s possible Ikea changed the method, but anyway, eventually job done.
Thanks for this video. I have a brain injury and got a bit stuck with the door insert and having seen your video I’m excited to finish it tomorrow. Really appreciate it.
Brilliant! Thank you! I can proceed with my plan. 🙃 IKEA brings most of the world together! Ha! Btw, I could listen to your accent•voice, well, a long time! Cheers!
Thanks for the detailed video! And pointing out about the holes in the unit! I didn't know that so now I can give it some thought before making those screw holes! 👍😊😊
I’m a lil OCD….the first door is not flush. The adjusting horizontally is my issue. Worked well with the hinges on the left but then I do the hinges on the right assembly it’s a hassle.
Thank you!! I have had this door for over a year! The instructions were terrifying. YOU made it sooo easy!! Do you have instructions for the doors too?
Thanks so much for the tutorial. I just bought these but am not a fan of the insert since it takes some room from the cubby. Can the door itself still be attached to the cubby and function properly without installing the insert?
Could someone please tell me what is the distance between the insert and unite side? I miss placed the little plastic tool and I don't want to make a mess ?
Thanks you very much for your video ! I've just bought 2 doors to someone but there's missing the platic template... Would you agree to give me the measure (in cm) to do the pencil mark please ? Sorry for my english 😊
It depends on your TV weight. Most TVs these days are pretty light and these units are pretty sturdy so I reckon it'll probably be fine in terms of weight. The width is another consideration though for really wide TVs. My TV is 50" and fits nicely
Just unscrew them gently and then rescrew them in whilst applying pressure on insert so it pushes against the frame. It should tighten up well the second time
Thanks a lot for the video! Instructions don't show that you have to destroy the kallax with 6 holes to screw the door. The old model inserts were way much better, sturdy, could have different positions, and were not screwed, so you could easily remove them without damaging the kallax. The new ones are a piece of junk even for low quality Ikea standards!
I had the same thought!! I had the old inserts on a previous piece and they were great. I didn’t realize when I bought this one it would be permanent. Now I have to think about where I really want to place it. Kind of bummed. I liked how I could change the old ones around.
Yes I saw this on the door insert reviews on the Ikea website, that the old inserts were much better. I decided not to buy these and use the basket cubes instead. I really didn’t want to drill into particle board to secure since particle board is not very secure. It strips easily. Seems like with continued use, the screws would strip away and no way to tighten them. Really bad design.
The screw holes are lining up between the bracket and the insert, not the wall of the Kallax unit itself. The line is to ensure proper depth of the insert so that the door doesn't stick out when closed, and if you're installing multiple doors, it makes sure the depth of the closed doors are consistent.
The holes drilled into my 2x2 kallax don't fit at all so it needs you to re-drill holes manually... how annoying. Even the plastic distancing tab goes beyond where the holes are...
Like what you see? Why not buy me a coffee? ;) ko-fi.com/artbooksreviewed

Thank you so much, I got stuck on number 1 as I thought I needed holes on the unit for the boxes. Easy peasy now. Thank you so much.❤

Thank you so much for this very good video. Without it, I would not have been able to get this bloody door into the KALLAX ;-) GREAT !!!!
Thank you. You make me think I can do this. Just got the cubicle unit assembled.

Thanks! Just bought a few of these, and it really had me rather confused :D
This made it all make sense.
Glad this helped!
Thank you so much! Very helpful 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Brilliant guide, thank you very much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks so much
Thank you!! I have had this door for over a year! The instructions were terrifying. YOU made it sooo easy!! Do you have instructions for the doors too?
Glad I could help!
So useful. Thank you !
Thanks so much for the tutorial. I just bought these but am not a fan of the insert since it takes some room from the cubby. Can the door itself still be attached to the cubby and function properly without installing the insert?
The door is smaller than the space so it will not have a nice flushed look. However I did cut out the back and leave the sides of the insert.
Yes you need to install the insert really
Thanks alot that really helped
Could someone please tell me what is the distance between the insert and unite side? I miss
placed the little plastic tool and I don't want to make a mess ?
It's 20mm
I have the cubes from Target and they are smaller than the ikea ones but I want inserts like these. I can't find any anywhere to fit mines
Was struggling with the insert pieces and this was a great help! Thank you so much!
Happy to help!
Thanks you very much for your video !
I've just bought 2 doors to someone but there's missing the platic template... Would you agree to give me the measure (in cm) to do the pencil mark please ?
Sorry for my english 😊
Use the width of the door itself which is normally 1.5cm
@@ArtbooksReviewed thanks you very much for your help !
This was a great help....thanks. I
You're welcome!
Is it possible to set them deeper into the unit for instance if you wanted to put something on the front so that it then became flush?
I'm not sure it can go any deeper because of the dimensions of the insert? Having said that I haven't tried.
Fucking legend! Thanks mate!!
Amazing! Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Do I need a power drill for the insert screwing or a normal screwdriver is fine ?
Screwdriver is fine 🙂
I don't have the plastic measuring device to mark the distance. Is that 1 inch? 🥺
Yes, it's just less than one inch I think but I reckon it would still work ok if you measured 1 inch
I'm interested in buying one do you thing this would be strong enough for a tv?
*think
I have my tv on one!
Do you think it could hold a 70 inch by any chance? Or would be to heavy?
It depends on your TV weight. Most TVs these days are pretty light and these units are pretty sturdy so I reckon it'll probably be fine in terms of weight. The width is another consideration though for really wide TVs. My TV is 50" and fits nicely
OK thank you!... U helped me alot
Thank you 🙏
Glad you found it useful!
Are you screwing the door sides into the actual furniture?
Yes, although I guess you could mark it and drill guide holes if you wanted?
You make it look so easy! Did you pre-drill holes into your Kallax?
Thanks. No I just screwed them in firmly. I don't think you need to predrill really 🙂
@@ArtbooksReviewed Thanks!
@@randomcreativemoments I used an electric screwdriver, as I did not have enough power doing it manual.
How many inches is that plastic template? I've bought some second hand ones and don't have the template.
I've just measured the distance and it's approx 2cm
@@ArtbooksReviewed thankyou. I ended up measuring the width of the size of the door. Don't know why I didn't think of it 1st.
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Thanks a lot
When i screw the screws in they stick out the back so now the door doesnt fit???

I just dont understand why you need to mark a line if the screw holes have to match up anyways.
The screw holes are lining up between the bracket and the insert, not the wall of the Kallax unit itself. The line is to ensure proper depth of the insert so that the door doesn't stick out when closed, and if you're installing multiple doors, it makes sure the depth of the closed doors are consistent.
I done exactly all this yet my door doesn't shut 😭😂
The holes drilled into my 2x2 kallax don't fit at all so it needs you to re-drill holes manually... how annoying. Even the plastic distancing tab goes beyond where the holes are...
L
So..do the side screws penetrate to the side shelf box?
I think they do slightly, yes
Very useful, thank you! I have to install four of them tomorrow and will definitely use your vid as a guide 😄
