Located in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, NIT Hamirpur enjoys a really scenic environment and pleasant weather. Established in the year 1986, as REC Hamirpur, NIT Hamirpur has been declared as the Institute of National Importance under the Act of Parliament, 2007. The Institute enjoys complete autonomy in academic affairs and it is managed by an autonomous Board of Governors consisting of nominees of the Central and State Governments, Industry and other Educational Institutions/Universities. The Institute is fully financed by the Ministry of Education, Government of India since April 2003. In conformity with the policy of the Government of India, 50% of seats are reserved for students from Himachal Pradesh, and the remaining 50% are earmarked for students from other states. A few seats are also available for Foreign Students Under Self Financing Schemes of the Government of India.
The Institute campus is located in the Hamirpur District of Himachal Pradesh. The campus is located in the picturesque surrounding and facing snow-clad Dhauladhar Mountain ranges. It is surrounded by lush green pine trees. The campus is well laid with roads, electricity installations, water supply, underground drainage, etc. The place has a healthy climate with moderate temperature normally ranging from 03 degree Celsius (minimum) to 40 degree Celsius (maximum) with an altitude of 900 meters.
The Institute provides undergraduate and postgraduate education in engineering fostering the spirit of national integration among the students, close interaction with industry, and a strong emphasis on basic and applied research. The Institute has made tremendous strides in the
areas of curriculum development, laboratory & infrastructure development, and research. The Institute offers UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs in various disciplines of Engineering/Architecture. The institute also offers PG and Ph.D. programs in the field of Science and Management.
NIT Hamirpur offers the following programs at UG/PG and Ph.D. Level:
_(i) 4 Year B.Tech. Program in various disciplines
_(ii) 5 Year B. Arch. Program
_(iii) 5 Year Dual Degree Program in ECE and CSE
_(iv) PG Programs in all major streams of Engineering, Architecture, Science and Management
_(v) Ph.D. programs in all major areas

Really NIT HAMIRPUR IS VERY BEAUTIFUL.....AMAZING ENVIRONMENT...AMAZING WEATHER...VERY COMFORTABLE WEATHER....MAX..TEMP....37 Degree C ....but u...don't feel 37 because of trees within Campus and outside campus....There is huge difference in day and night temp...in summer....i.e....if noon temp..is 37 in june..then the temp at.....night will be 18 to 23 degree celcius .......It is situated Within Town....Even campus of Govt Pg college HAMIRPUR is just 100 meters from NITH Main Gate ......and...It is very .near to all famous Hill stations.....like..
Dharamshala..Mcleodganj.............Palampur...Shimla..kullu....etc...No Crime .....Beautiful Place with Beautiful Campus ......U...can reach..there ..in 4 hours from Chandigarh...and 1and hour from Una Railway station......by taxi or other private vehicle...Best of luck...👍👍👍
