Joakims voice is made for singing this. Lemmy made a beautiful song and I love Sabaton for the respect they are showing him in this video.
I also love that they included all the heroes from earlier songs made by them.
This was great!
One of the best covers I've ever heard. Lemmy would be proud.
RIP Lemmy
@@SargeStreams "Who would win in a fight? Lemmy or God? Trick question; Lemmy is God." --Airheads
Amen ❤ RIP Lemmy
Sabaton never fails to give a history lesson and always first rate videos.
One of my favorite things about them
Except in this case, Motorhead deserves the lyrical credit. 😉
I love how they have surviving members of Motörhead marching with them and flags that form cover of Motörhead album 1916!
It's a well thought out tribute.
Lemmy wrote this song after seeing a TV show about the 1916 Battle of the Somme. During the show a veteran was interviewed, breaking down as he recalled holding his best friend as he died. The song is pretty much about the boys like him who went to war too young, too unprepared, but willing to do all. A moving and phenomenal tribute to both Lemmy and all the soldiers throughout history who went off to fight, and sometimes die, for their homelands. RIP Lemmy, and all those who sacrificed themselves defending their homes. You are missed, and appreciated. great reaction, keep rocking.
Sabaton always gives us a lesson and it's always beautiful. But credit to Lemmy. He wouldn't let us forget the sacrifice and he never, ever held back. They bled so we could live. Never take that for granted
The two guys standing in the door opening at 5:35 are Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell, the drummer and the guitarist of Motörhead. The picture they are carrying is of Lemmy Kilmister, the bassist and singer of Motörhead.
Not gonna lie, I had tears in my eyes...😢
Good homage to other soldiers dying face down in the mud as well as an
*Homage to Motorhead* who recorded the song originally.
Their videos are probably a better history lesson than what is taught in schools now! Sabaton is an absolutely fantastic band!
Powerful song!
Well done SABATON ❣️
Love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱🙋🏼♀️
What I love about this is they may be singing about an event. But still honoring all fighters through the centuries. Like an anthem.
What I have learned about history in war (our planet) I have entirely learned from Sabaton. I owe them so much.
This video is full of Easter eggs, references to other Sabaton songs.
The orchestral version is as sad, if not more, than the regular versions
Did some research on the names of the soldiers portrayed and while there were a few that I couldn't find anything on, the ones I did find were Victoria cross recipients, those awarded the Medal of Honor, and other medals for Valor. All of them were heroes.
many of them had other songs by sabaton dedicated to them aswell, but yes.
Everything Sabaton does is a cinematic masterpiece. The Somme, Passchendaele , Verdun - almost all forgotten, the stories untold save for outfits like Sabaton. Lest we forget.
Gotta see more and soon!
The Somme, Passchendaele and Verdun aren't really forgotten. Not by those nations who actually fought there.
@@ohauss Perhaps not by we older folks who got a decent historical education and continued to pursue it on our own. But most young folks can't even name the year or the incident that kicked off WW1. Come to America, and most young folks are comically clueless about history in general. I was recently mocked for saying that one man with a weapon could change the entire course of history, and this from a supposed "military historian." I asked him if he was familiar with the names John Wilkes Booth and Gavrilo Princip. Silence ensued.
@@WardDorrity And the guy who shot Arch Duke Ferdinand, thereby starting the dominoes to fall into WW1.
@@merryrose6788 Ah, yes - the infamous Gavrilo Princip, Black Hand wannabe and his Browning 1903, which is still in a museum.
I love Sabaton. If you liked this, you might like the last Nanowar of Steel video featuring Joakim Broden of Sabaton: Pasadena 1994, about the worst Italian defeat after WW2 (at least what the Italians consider their worst defeat). If you like Sabaton, I bet you will like that song, too.
Thank you for the suggestion. 💚
This is an awesome cover. Chilling and very touching. I can't wait to hear them do this live in two weeks time.
You have to let me know how that goes. I bet it will be awesome 😎
@@SargeStreams I will 😄
This is a heartfelt tribute….lost many extended family members fighting at the Somme. My family are from the same area where where this video was filmed.
"We were lions led by donkeys" said one English WW1 veteran.
As you said, much in this is self- explainable. The emotional impact, when fully gathering the losses is great. WWI in many ways seems so much grueling and harrowing than WWII. That was fought with so much more cause than the s.k. Great War. WWI comes through as so much more meaningless.(Sabatons song Great War is one of the more catchy ones, btw.)
Here there were many tributes. To the fallen ones, to the late singer and original songwriter of Motörhead and to many of Sabatons other songs. All the different soldiers in that march represented songs like Hellfighters, Nightwitches, Bannockburn, Sarajevo, Hell and Back Again, 82nd All the Way, No Bullets Fly, Red Baron etc.
I have so much to catch up on 🫡
thats in large parts due to the standstill and most soldier not even know what they are fighting for. In WW2 the frontlines moved quickly(for the most part) and every move at least had a purpose. In WW1, at least after the initial stages it was just throwing men and equipment at the frontline in the hope that anything will happen at all
It was an awesome tribute to all the soldiers who have fallen in all the conflicts through world history. An amazing tribute to Lemmy Kilmister. The amazing cello work was done by Tina Guo. Tina is also featured on Sabaton's Steel Commander song ans video. Tina also did the cello work for the DCEU Wonder Woman Theme
Это удивительное видео, так много истории, и оно охватывает все их песни в видео. Такие как бисамолеты, машина арочного герцога, 588-й командир воздушной бригады, выйдя на улицу. И многое другое! :)
This was an awesome video!
Love your reactions to Sabaton. Many more to come i hope. It's a doozie of a rabbit hole. Christmas Truce,Lady of the Dark,The First Soldier,Race to the Sea all great to check out.
Yes. I need to get back to them. You get lost in all the awesome artist out there…more coming soon!
Also, thank you for your suggestions
Highly recommend watching the animated story video for Night Witches. The last part always gets me. Nice story of respect at the very end.
I've learned more of history from Sabaton than I had in school
R.I.P. Lemmy!
Great reaction. Thanks. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you for the kind words! Much love
The gap between your headset and head is driving me bonkers lol🤪
Lol I can’t do anything about it either and trust me I thought about it…but now it should be better Bc the background filter lol Much love
6miles for 300k dead is 7.5in per man going by the total casualties it drops to just over 2in
I was born in Northern England in the 1960s
and every city, town and village has a war memorial
to those who fell in the first and second world wars.
My equivalent of a high school had two memorials
in the front lobby of the school.
on the first Sunday after 11 November
it is Remembrance Sunday in Britain
and at 11:00 we have a two minute silence
at the War Memorial led by the monarch.

and for the 100 anniversary of the first world war
there was a sea of poppies at the Tower of London

Normally I would say "Enjoy" but that doesn't feel right.
Sabaton > Every other band
I mostly agree, but this is actually a Motorhead song.
They are even better live.
No lies told.
