- This video shows how Dynamics 365 and Outlook work together so that you can track emails in Outlook to the timeline in Dynamics 365, and how you can create new contacts, leads, and accounts in Dynamics 365 directly from Outlook. I also give you you a couple of good tips about personal settings for which emails to track and automating creation of new contacts from emails.

Thanks Lisa, you made it very easy to follow, i am new to model driven apps and i am struggling with a way to integrate outlook in the model driven app as i need to have the ability to add events directly from a form in the app and it should be viewed in the calendar view of outlook allowing us to see what is happening that day.

Thanks for this Lisa, you made it very easy to follow and got an instant subscribe from me. I knew a bit about this and learned a couple things too. What I'm really struggling with is getting email conversations to automatically track. I work for a charity and our team use cases. We don't want all emails to track as we get many non case related but we may regularly come in on a morning and find that there's a dozen emails in a chain relating to a case as other professionals and the family have been responding. We'd like this to automatically appear in the Timeline but we also need a count of how many emails were involved as this is part of our fundraising reporting.
Occasionally my Dynamics shows that it has tracked a reply but then it's not within the Dynamics timeline and it hasn't counted as an activity.
I have the personalisation settings set to track email messages in response to Dynamics 365 email. I feel like I'm missing something obvious!

I managed to start this within the Administration system settings and checking "use correlation to track email conversations" but it's still not perfect in tracking every email in a chain once the first has been tracked. I'm not noticing a pattern in how this works either.
Is it possible to add a single contact to multiple accounts?

Dear Lisa,
hope you are having a good time in the US. I can't have my appointments from Dynamics synced to my Outlook Calendar. It happens with the Phone calls I plan to do. Despite me putting the date and time of the call, I have to work with these two calendars and is very hard to follow up.
Also I've noticed that a some calls can be done within the day, not at a precise time, but there's no option to select "all day" when working in Dynamics. Can yoy give me a hint or guide me how to fix this? I would like to have my calendar in Outlook, that I can see the appointmetns time and the phone calls planned, but all configured from Dynamics. Thank you
Hi Lisa, I am about to start using the outlook plugin. I noticed that while it creates the contact the company name is blank. So that would need to be entered manually or looked up an chosen each time?

Thank you Lisa! This was very helpful. I don't know if you are familiar with Calendly, but we have the scheduling software integrated with Outlook. I hoped that we could have the appointments feed from Calendly, to Outlook then create an appointment record in Dynamics. Do you know of a way to automatically log these meetings added to Outlook via Calendly in Dynamics? We don't want to automatically add all outlook items due to storage space and data integrity.
I know no one replied to you on this, but you could set up a Power Automate flow for each user and use the Outlook connector. When the Calendar Event's body includes "calendly", create a record in Dynamics of your choice (Appointment, etc.).
Is there a way to compose an email using a marketing list directly from the plugin? I can find the list I want but cannot figure out how to add the recipients to the “to, cc, or bcc” lines.
What if I encrypt the email in outlook and save to Dynamics 365?

Lisa, the feature of showing tasks and phone calls in Outlook (I use the web based application as you) doesn't work. All sync info is correct and how it's supposed to be. Still...nothing. This is what I am trying to achieve to work. Thank you
Tasks should show up in "To Do" which is the tasks section of Outlook. Phone calls won't show up in Outlook. I'd suggest trying in the communit forums with screenshots to see if anyone there can help with troubleshooting
@@LisaCrosbie thank you for your input. In one of your videos, you show a quick entry phone call task, synced to outlook calendar at the time set up. The syncing of “To Do” by itself is useless because it only reminds you of task to do but doesn’t take you to the customer’s file in the CRM where you have all the comments and info related to do what needs to be done next. I don’t recall by heart every thing I have to do. A Point of improvement to Microsoft Dynamics
@@ctechera Exactly. In New Outlook with only the To Do App, Task synchronization is broken.

Yes you can set it up so that they are automatically tracked to the contact (based on email address).
Thanks for sharing. I wonder if you can create an Dynamics 365 activity from an outlook task ( I use OWA)? Can this also be automated with a flow btw?
Tasks in Dynamics 365 are actually the same object as tasks in Outlook (and also now Microsoft To Do). So you don't even need to set up any automation, just use this native integration for tasks.

this video is getting quite old now, a lot of things have changed, but perhaps your administrator hasn't set it up for you, that would be the first thing to check

Yes, you can select a group of records (or put them in a marketing list) and then send an email or email template.

How to you set the regardings to custom table activities?
You need to make sure you have enabled activities for your custom table - this should help: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/outlook-app/enable-a-custom-entity-to-appear-in-the-regarding-lookup
Hi Lisa, is it possible to build a scheduling calendar in power apps (model driven). for example one should be able to schedule a property inspection quarterly or twice a year depending up the type of maintenance.
Yes, the simplest way to do this is that you can schedule a recurring appointment as a task related to your property. On the timeline you can add appointment (regarding the property), then in the top menu of the appointment there is a recurrence option.
Is it also tracking appointments created from outlook that is connected to a contact or lead from d365? :)
Yes, I didn’t include that but it does work that way around as well. From the outlook appointment you can open the dynamics panel similar to what you see for the email and track it in the same way
The appointments created from Outlook for a lead already tracked are not showing in the Timeline for me
yes, you need to track your appointment to D365 contact or lead (press D365 button in the Outlook appointment, press track). Hope it helps.
