even if the progress is slow, i still think its A LOT better than it is now days on retail, because you have loads of quests and party quests to do along with the grinding, unlike now days that you do your dailies (which is just grinding) and then your only option is more, mind numbing, grinding.
If i ever get a chance to play a US version i intend for it to me a headset off distraction type of game more than an exciting game. Since im not 10 like i was playing MapleStory in 2007 i think i understand that grinding is less of a task than i imagined. But now id be willing to buy a 4hr 2x exp card mindlessly level up, because im not going to be in 8hr sessions like i was in 2007 lol
Looking at it from a distance it seems like the divide between clientside and serverside isn't exactly how it was back in the day. Even with bad connections the game looked and felt quite smooth, because so many things were clientside, and the server would 'catch up' on everything relevant. Bit sad to see that, but I'm sure it has to do with the limits of the universe nexon created.
awesome video, i used to play old school private servers that were 1x all around. Sadly they don't exist anymore. Recently I've been playing classic world of warcraft and its crazy how many people play these old games not just because of nostalgia. It's has been very cool to see the recent interest in old maplestory in the form of mapleland and other private servers. I pray to god that one day Nexon releases their own version of old school maplestory but im not going to wait on it.
Once private servers go online, it will be like ragnarok online where they'll set rates, make cosmetics, p2w features and ease of life features in the game that'll improve the game but keep it just the way it is.
@@MrFearlesskiller There was just an announcement that Nexon might release a Maplestory Classic! Look for Maplestory Memories 2005. there's a video on RUclips as well
@@MrFearlesskiller Agreed about the trademark, but I believe they saw the potential in Maple Land, they can make a fortune out of it. About if it's fun or not, it's a matter of perspective :) Games you enjoy some will not, and vice versa. I think it will be very fun.
can someone write to me when this come to the West, i know so many of my friends (including me), that wants to play this game.. :/ and by that i mean this oldschool maple where it takes time and effort to level up, not getting to lvl 200 in a day :')
how to play it now.. was going to play but like only allow player in S Korea? cuz it is my childhood memoery, i played like 4-5yrs since i was 9or10 really want to play
People complain its just nostalgia, and yet this server got more players than retail:)) i wonder why.. its not only nostalgia, every level count, good gear players were respected and recognizable. Farm mesos, buy scrolled items or scroll by urself. If people think the grind is hard, i got news for you. Retails grind is far more worse than classic. By experience, and playstyle. Atleast in classic i enjoy killing, retail is just effects and thousands of nrs on my screen, and by the end of the day my fingers hurt playing retail and alot of headaches. And right now retail sucks thanks to nexons another fail patches and expansions🤣
if Oldschool maple ever comes out internationally, they should atleast make it loads of qol. Like make the exp better(2x maybe?) Make everything better. Making OSMS as original as pre bb will not sustain the game. Most of the players are of the age of 25-35 and they definitely do not have time to play. If the server is as it is as last time, I would play but ill definitely quit.
After trying old-school private servers, you really burn through the nostalgia quite quickly, then remember how repetitive it all is once you hit a high enough level. Leeching, magestory (aoe attacks), bossing and selling carries. The recent event MapleStory did for their 19th anniversary was surprisingly satisfying. It took around 10 minutes to complete, but in just those few minutes, you get a taste of the old skills (visuals and sounds) and the overall feeling of old MapleStory. I think if an old-school server is out, a lot of people will join (seeing how oldschool private servers are popular and have a remarkably sustainable playerbase). But in reality, I'd be bored to do everything all over again. Old MapleStory was unbalanced, took a lot of time and effort, and needed a lot of rework and balances. I would be more interested in a new thing entirely, with the taste of old MapleStory. Something like the Unreal Engine version RyuRussel made of old MapleStory. Something new, but sold for the nostalgia-thirsty audience. Maybe that's just me though.
The imbalance of old maplestory was real. Nothing comes close to assassins in damage and bossing. Mages except clerics were so bad at bossing and have no advantage whatsover over a bishop in 4th job. A bishop can do everything they can but better. Classes like page, crossbowman, f/p mages were obsolete. Yea it was fun but it just needed to make every class relevant in bossing.
Once an MMO stops growing, and starts declining in player base. It just feels so unrewarding. Especially if they add cheap or overpowered things in new updates, which made all the grinding as good as worthless. Having to wait, or play only at peak hours, because no1 online, kills the game. In my opinion, they should have 1 server, 1 region (world), with just different channels. This way, the game never dies out at much, you can just switch channels. The big bang update, the classes they added, they threw so many people off. Grinding was boring, but felt rewarding. But with those updates, the grinding felt worthless. I like most of the content and classes they ended up adding now. However, it should have been introduced slower, staying more true to the original.
Classic MS is boring, thats why i hope we get ton of QOL updates, the base game is good, just make it more suitable for the era, like osrs (and every update, ask the community to vote and if it passes, update, if not, dont), thats the only way to have lasting os server
Can't really see myself playing this game, its better for newcomers who never got to experience the classic ms, but if you wanna waste away time grinding for hours for exp, you do you.
@@TheOchocincoboi lmao dude, how dumb can u be, if you know classic ms, then u know how slow of a progression the game was compared to now, the lack of classes, content, events, outdated sprites, please tell me u honestly think a grown ass man, can relive his childhood seeing old outdated maps in 2024 hm? You said it.. the slow progress, the time it takes to level.. the feeling of getting a good drop. It's satisfying. Nothing will ever compare to it.

You can actually play this old version now since Nexon has re-released it. You just need to use a Korean VPN.
