Hi Luke, I’ve been driving trucks for 37 years and as long as the load Is secured properly and checked regularly it doesn’t matter what trailer it goes on. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there. 😎🇬🇧
So Tall & light loads and side winds with not enough strapping. Is a recipe for Sailing but not driving. Good that you went the safe way and strapped well. Thanks for the interesting short videos. Enjoyed your 2023 videos, Have a Great Christmas
I did enjoy your video Luke. I'm not a truck driver or have any connection to the haulage business but I always look forward to your videos and must say that I find them very interesting.
Luke C.. When I had loads like this . I had 2 pieces of pallet wood about 3 feet long, held together with about 8 inches of old strap in 3 places. Then hang it over where the 2 pallets met, then strapped it with 2 straps 1 one one either side of the 2 pallets. This would hold the load really sturdy. Give it a go?
Some years ago I live in Calne on the A4, this was before the M4 middle section was built we used to get lorries of Irish peat going through. Large bags/bales in plastic. So peat with high water content, drying out and shrinking. Plastic and water plus the loads were roped not straps and may have a top sheet. Also the loads were often on a second flat bed that had craned on. Once the load started move the driver had no chance.
Hi Luke. It’s just like you said with a load like that it’s how you drive . We see a lot of roll overs on corners & intersections. Mostly new drivers . Training with empty trailers and then give them their first load 60000 LB load .
It did workout well then in the end with regards to the load. But if I had 4 different people telling me it’s risky I personally would’ve refused it or at least made a call to the boss explaining the situation. I’m sure you know what you’re doing though as a pretty experienced trucker. Keep on trucking lad 👍
I did indeed contact my transport manager to express the concerns of others. i strapped the load up, sent him the picture in this thumbnail and was told to carry on :) i didn't just load and go.

Hi Luke, i'm looking at doing my Class 2 next year. Do you think it is better to go straight into class 1 or just start in class 2 and see what happens? i'm seeing alot of jobs but all with +1year experince so maybe having both the license will gain the appearance of experience while idle ?
These companies will know if you have any experience when they see you drive in assesment.. especially when and of you go for a class 1 assment..I've been driving a rigid for 6 years, had class 1 a year went for assesment and they knew when it came to reversing
My advice would be to go to a reputable training company. Have a chat with them, or there are companies that train from in-house. Eg, coop they train so many every year from warehouse staff.good luck.
Sorry mate. I don’t have it at the top of my mind. Probably because there is no section. As you’re well aware. I said it’s my decision. Which it is. I choose. My rule 👍🏻

Hi. A taut liner is a flat trailer with curtains , therefore it should be strapped as a flat trailer, failure to do so risks the load exporting itself against or straight out passed the remaining form of the curtain.
Hi guy . As a Canadian I noticed you use a lot of curtain trailers in the UK . I’m thinking they keep the load dry but like you said it has to be well & firmly strapped . I have seen a few curtain trailers here but we use mostly dry vans 53’ footers with spring loaded 3” load bars to secure the load . But I can see the advantage of the curtain much quicker to unload. 👍🇨🇦
