    Some years ago I live in Calne on the A4, this was before the M4 middle section was built we used to get lorries of Irish peat going through. Large bags/bales in plastic. So peat with high water content, drying out and shrinking. Plastic and water plus the loads were roped not straps and may have a top sheet. Also the loads were often on a second flat bed that had craned on. Once the load started move the driver had no chance.

    Hi Luke. It’s just like you said with a load like that it’s how you drive . We see a lot of roll overs on corners & intersections. Mostly new drivers . Training with empty trailers and then give them their first load 60000 LB load .

    Luke C.. When I had loads like this . I had 2 pieces of pallet wood about 3 feet long, held together with about 8 inches of old strap in 3 places. Then hang it over where the 2 pallets met,then strapped it with 2 straps 1 one one either side of the 2 pallets. This would hold the load really sturdy. Give it a go?

      Hi guy . As a Canadian I noticed you use a lot of curtain trailers in the UK . I’m thinking they keep the load dry but like you said it has to be well & firmly strapped . I have seen a few curtain trailers here but we use mostly dry vans 53’ footers with spring loaded 3” load bars to secure the load . But I can see the advantage of the curtain much quicker to unload. 👍🇨🇦

    Seeing you stuck on the M42. I was just going to ask whether its roadworks or accident as I'm heading to London between Christmas and New Year, and I always use the M42/M40, and if its road works I could use the M5 then towards M40 that way and hope to avoid the total mess on the M42🤣. This is where the CBs used to come into their own as lorry drivers could pass the information on to you🤣 of what was up. What I don't get, are vehicles that have their brake lights on, ie, foot brake. Don't their feet/legs get tired?

    • @xScaliizorZ
      @xScaliizorZ 6 месяцев назад +1

      Tachos generally go onto other work automatically whenever you stop driving anyway. I have seen a few that go straight onto break which is annoying and shouldn't happen in a perfect world but some do but yes technically speaking anything during working hours besides an actual break where you do whatever YOU want to it should be on other work.

    Love your videos mate. In your situation where you’re out tramping you are in the fortunate situation where you can make best use of your time but in general, no. It isn’t at the drivers discretion to use a 10. If it’s legal it can be planned, absolutely poor practice and shouldn’t be like that In my opinion. it is setting your drivers up to fail by your poor planning and putting your repute on the line but yeah can planned. It is “at the drivers discretion” as it at the companies discretion to employ you. And by refusing could be up for disciplinary for insubordination. X
