Today we are unboxing a watch from Merkur watch group that has a wide selection of brands and models under their umbrella.
Made in china with their own and third party movements, Merkur offers a huge selection of watches from military inspired like the Seizenn W10 World War II model we are reviewing, to Homages to popular Seiko and other brands.
With a price of just $119 ($99 after the discount code) I really expected this watch to be complete garbage, but it has surprised me! Not only is it made really well, but also preportioned, legible, and with an amazing lume!!
As usual, stay tuned for the full review!!!

Merkur is a great brand - i own a Seizenn as well and the original designs say to me that they are legitimately passionate about watches. Even their choices of models to homage say a lot - if they only wanted to make bread, they would make submariners and integrated sports watches.
side note: Seizenn does not fit within the Pinyin system of romanizing mandarin, so it is likely supposed to be a westernized name. Personally i just pronounce it "Size N" lol
That's a great little watch. This form of the W10 was not issued in WWII but in the late 60s into the 70s.
The most popular original manufacturers were Hamilton and afterwards, CWC after Hamilton stopped the contract with the UK MOD.
I have two main gripes with this watch. While the use of a manual wind movement is IMHO a great choice, it's a pity that it is non-hacking, especially for a military-inspired watch. The second gripe is the crystal: IMHO it should be a plexi like on the original. if scratched you can easily buff it out. That's just not possible with a mineral crystal.
Besides that, pretty cool little watch.
Should also be worn on a grey NATO strap
Nice finish, very keen to see the full review 👍
A very nice watch indeed. I have a couple of pilot watches so it's enough for me, but if I didn't have them already I'd certainly look seriously at this one. Excellent review.
Great review! Looking forward for the coming full review.
Nice watch! It reminds me of the Vostok Amphibia, (710 case).
Just received mine after watching this review. Seriously not disappointed. Thanks for the heads up.
if you do a review of it please open it up and show us the movement too (with some macro shots maybe), it should be much better looking than the price would suggest.
Looks decent enough. The smaller sized watches appeal to me more and more.
Thanks for trying this watch, I look forward to the full review 👍. I bought this watch one year ago, unfortunately the movement became very erratic after a couple of months and I couldn't fix it. Rather than return it, I made aluminium spacers to fit a vh31 mechaquartz and new hands. It is still a great watch, I did email Merkur to suggest they sold a vh31 version as it was a straight forward swap.
Wow! I’m pleasantly surprised! 😄👍🏼
Thanks for sharing!
I have liked the case shape of the W10 ... been sitting in my cart for a while. Although I prefer the Merkur brand name .. just a matter of personal taste.
Field watches need hacking.
Hi. What do you tnink about the movement? Is it good or not?
Mine is holding up really well
this is a straight up copy of Hamilton KHAKI AVIATION PILOT PIONEER MECHANICAL H76419931, just a little larger and thicker than the Hamilton (38mm case 12 mm thick vs Hamilton's 36mm case 10 mm thick).
Does the code work? Tried and it says doesnt exist
I believe that beautiful shaped case is a tonneau shape.
Great video
yea, the Chinese watchmakers are in the process of biting a big bite out of the market. Mostly damaging the the Japanese so far, but tomorrow they will go after the Swiss.
True on the Japanese, but as for Swiss, I doubt if anyone that actually has the cash to buy an Omega, Rolex, Patek, etc will say, no, I'll buy a Pagani Design instead. I'm not being a snob, I have 4 AE watches that are great! But the luxury Swiss market and the Chinese market will never come together.
@@brianmsahin... agree they have to slowly go up market ... become a staple world wide (like Seiko did), nibble away at market share, become a household name, then produce an up market range (like King Seiko and Grand Seiko) THEN it will likely be one or two new models with new features or haute horological features that will receive Swiss recognition and will suddenly elevate a brand (doubt there will be three or four brands). Best guess, right now, is that it will be San Martin, Baltany or Seagull that will be that brand - but that could always change.
@@brianmsahin ... that said the Pagani v3 Speedy homage (and the Alaska/ Mission to Mars version) got a lot of coverage as a MUCH better alternative to the MoonSwatch.
I have this watch it's a little cracker, I'm normally all about the dial but it's the case that keeps me coming back here. It's making the Hamilton purchase a bit unlikely, for now.
That crystal looks like it would get scratched and scuffed as soon as you take it out of the box
If it was acrylic yes, but this one is mineral, so you're ok in day to day use
The glass they use is pretty hard, I grazed my one on a painted brick wall, it had paint stuck to it, but when I scraped the paint off with my fingernail, the glass was unmarked 👍
Wow very observant sherlock
@@WatchGeekbro I love your watch reviews and explanations , I was asking if you have a video and the gax-100b
Hey WG. Could you please give us a review of the G-SHOCK GW-9500
👍✌
