Great tutorial overall, but a few minor corrections: - Rotation is in degrees, not mm. :) - The slot resizing tool will find slots in your selection that matches the criteria, so you could have selected the entire set of shapes inside the large outer lines (and even those outer lines themselves) and LightBurn will only resize things that match what you ask it to. - Slots can be rectangles - they don't need to be converted to paths first. - The anchor position does not affect slot resizing.
Thanks for joining in! I corrected the brain fart in the pinned comment on degrees. (and don't tell anyone, but I just wanted to get the anchor point into a video 🤪) I tried selecting all and it didn't work. I got an error that said no paths were found. Now I just tried it again and it worked... strange! Thanks for the corrections!
Hi Rich - thank you for adding more understanding to this topic, 'anker' and slots, which are used so much and can simplify the process enormously - have an amazing day!
*The pivot is in DEGREES, not mm!* My old brain like to play tricks on me! The "Anchor Points" do more than just what I showed in the video! Try using it while aligning two graphics! *A BIG THANK YOU to Lightburn Software for their comments and corrections!*

Hello, I'm Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro and I always watch your videos. Thanks so much for sharing this important new feature of LightBurn. I've come across situations like this several times and learning this new function has been very helpful. Thanks.
Always love watching your videos, you always remind me of a 100% genuine guy,who just loves to help others, and always look so happy. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍
What a great feature that is. I've been hanging on using version 9.24 but now I think it's time to upgrade. Thanks for taking the time to show us this.
Rich, thank you so much. This was the answer to a question I left you from another video. Hope you’re doing well!! Keep these videos coming. I’m old and new to this hobby. Takes me a little longer than a younger person. 😊
I love watching your videos because they are easy to follow along and well thought out. And you don't rely on ridiculous gimmicky stuff like the "Dad" guy does.
You have no idea how many slots I have changed one at a time! Thanks for pointing this out and thanks for LB for putting it in and THANKS for ther brevity!
I am looking for a video on how to move my slots and tabs up or down my project. I am an R/C modeler and when I have had a mishap and want put in a new former into the original slots it can be a bit of hit or miss getting the tab or slot in the right place, sometimes I can be a couple of mm to high or to low. Instead of having to readjust the complete former all it will need is to move the slots up or down a couple of mile meters, I am using Lightburn for my design programme and a Falcon 10watt laser. Hope you can get the idea of what I am trying to explain to you. Thank you very much with any help you can give. Ian Mallett
First, you went ahead and made me renew my license but I’m glad I did because this feature is a massive time saver. I use a lot of Luan plywood but the thickness is never consistent between brands. Now I don’t have to redraw my project every time I get a new piece of wood. Thank you very much for this tutorial.
Here in England you can buy 8x4 feet sheets of ply i think its quarter inch thick 3.6 mm at any diy shop. and it does'nt cost a lot most of the files i get on etsy are for 3mm so with your help things should start to get a lot less expensive for me so THANKS for that
I had just the other day watched a Video on adjusting the tabs and slots the "Easiest" way and I can tell you this is the best (though i need to see the tabs Video hint: Rich) Lightburn is one of the only software and not just talking in the laser field that Has people who really care about the product and every new version has some new design function to make our lives easier....
Rich, another right-on-time video, I wondered how to change the slot sizes, having the same issue going from a design for 3mm to thicker wood. I received a few designs for 3mm and wondered how to make them work for 4-6mm. As always another excellent teaching video. Thank you.
Hi Rich. Many thanks to you for this tutorial (and many thanks to Lightburn, too). Resizing slots has really been quiet difficult, up to now, with complex designs. Your tutorial is very clear and helpful. As Anchor and Rotation: I have just prepared my first clock face and found those features useful in placing the numbers and the small "commas" ( for 1, 2, 4 o'clock etc.) . I used a temporary thin arm, anchored in the center of the clock and made it rotate 30 degrees each time. For this you would have to anchor the "arm" in center top or center bottom. One can also use an arm as long as a full diameter (instead of a radius long arm) . In this case you have to anchor the arm in the center and when you rotate it 30 degrees at a time you get the right positions for two marks at a time. Emanuel
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy My pleasure. You have no idea how how helpful your videos have been to me. Your channel and videos are way ahead of anyone elses.
Hi, I think your tutorials are great, and I have used many of them to learn Lightburn. However, the only problem I found was the anchor points tutorial, you described rotating 11mm. This is a small angle and I think I have a more friendly instruction how to highlight the anchor point rotation. I have just gone into Lightburn and test the rotation for myself and make sense of it. Create a square, from the centre anchor point rotate by 45 degrees. You should have a diamond shape. When you select the shape you have all the outer points still in the shape of the reference anchor points. I suggest selecting bottle middle anchor point. Rotate 90 degrees and the shape has moved round to the right. I think that will be a lot clearer for your users and me. Thanks again for the great tutorials and good luck for the future with your new Realms project. I am waiting avidly to watch you three produce fantastic projects.
There's actually a lot more to the anchor points. I just wanted to reference it in the video to bring awareness. It's main purpose is use with multiple shapes.
hi Rich you are the MAN lightburn needs to employ you as PR guy for concise explanations of there features and you make it so easy to understand every time once again thanks for your time and hope you have the best Christmas. This is a game changer concidering the inconsistences in thickness of wood theses days well in the Uk anyway thanks for letting us know rich
Well seeing as I only get things half right, Lightburn wouldn't want me! 🤪 But they do support me with a wealth of information! Merry Christmas to you and yours too Gary! 🎅
The slot resizing work flow is a very nice trick. Thanks for sharing. Tip on the anchor point that is worth noting and helpful, is that the XPos and YPos values are also relative to the selected anchor point. Thanks again. Great channel.
You are the best for sharing this information. I thank you. Truly needed this because I normally use 4mm wood and the projects I have have 3mm slots. This is great!
Nice and straightforward, thanks! Would be cool if they added the ability to expand the slots only outward or inward instead of centered. I guess you could do it now if you went one side at a time using the anchors. Expanding outward for example would keep the space between the slots on either side the same width.
It is not necessary to manually select all slots. When you give lightburn the actual slot width and the wanted new slot width it will do a search and replace on all selected objects. Thank you for sharing this new function.
Great tutorial, helped me a lot. Up og downscaling vector files with slots has been a nightmare, as the slot sizes obviously changed as well. Now it is so easy to correct to the material thickness.
I’ve been using the 9 dot function and called it (to myself) the “pivot point” to rotate around. Hobo also demonstrated it can be used as a “snap to” tool for moving objects within objects to various corners.

Great new feature and well explained. However, I haven’t tried it yet but can’t help thinking that if the anchor point is set to Centre, would the spacing between the left and right slots be reduced. If so a piece spanning between them wouldn’t then fit. Just a thought.
