  • After Houston was awarded the 1st overall pick in the 2002 NBA draft, they selected Yao Ming. In the 2004 off-season, they saw major changes in the roster by trading for Tracy McGrady.
Still, the duo was plagued with injuries - of the 463 regular season games for which they were teammates, Yao missed 146 and McGrady 160 - and did not win any playoff series.

Neverthless, that rocket team that pushed the lakers to 7 games with Yao for 3 games and no tmac was a championship caliber team. They had the stars (if uninjured), wing defenders in battier/artest, role players like aaron brooks who won most improved, young kyle lowry, carl landry, scola, etc. That had everything a team needed to win a chip. Dwight took them to the finals in 09, he was never injured like Yao in T-Mac’s prime and as offensively Howard was it would’ve take a lot of stress and work off on T-Mac’s body every game. So in this video, I realized that Tmac really changed the culture for the Rockets. Yao and Francis was a dynamic duo but they didnt make the playoffs with Francis running the show. Tmac on the other hand, though disappointing, they made the playoffs and had made the Rockets a playoff contender team for years.
Their best chance was in 2009, had they been healthy I think they would have beaten the lakers in 7. Beat the Nuggets in 6 and we were also robbed of a possibility of a Prime Dwight Howard vs Yao Ming finals matchup. Tmac vs his former team. They got Artest and Battier locking up the wings, Scola who is very underrated and Aaron Brooks who was playing decent that time.

  • @gigabyte9584

So many first round exits man 🤦🏾‍♂️ and it’s even more crazy that McGrady keep saying stuff like “hopefully it’s our year” or “if I don’t make it pass the first round, it’s on me,” and yeah. Saying that it aged well is an understatement. You could be looking at one of the most unluckiest teams ever in this stretch. Sad.
Also, I have never seen a player like Yao so fragile in my life 😂
