    Has anyone else noticed an extreme personality change in users and promoters of Thrive? The handful of women and men that I know are not even the same people anymore! I don’t know if it’s the products, the “motivational guru” zoom meetings, the new cars, the all inclusive vacations or a combination of everything. Nearly everyone of the females have had very little weight loss but have learned how to pose and use strong filters for their Instagram posts. Between the spray tans, hair extensions, false lashes, lip injections, botox and yes- plastic surgery; you wouldn’t even recognize them. Their weight never changes, especially when you run into them in public without the filters/lighting ect. I just don’t understand how such an “amazing” product still requires all of those additional procedures.

    I have a friend that just got hooked by this MLM scam. I am so happy to see that there are actual science / evidence based videos out there that highlight the dangers of this product. Especially if you don't consult a dr. first. They say it is for everyone but this product would put me in the hospital with tachycardia or a stroke as I already have high blood pressure and the contents of this supplement would push me over the edge. Something they don't tell you about on their site.

    So serious question. I personally have taken Thrive and enjoy it. I do feel like it helps, well for about a month or so, then it's like my body gets used to it and I lose the effect. My main concern is I cannot find any 3party actual studies on it. I was told all the ingredients are natural and not synthetic, but I cannot find any info to verify this.
    Your video was the first "study" I found that used science to back up any claims.
    In your research, did you find anything that could verify, or not, that the ingredients are not synthesized?

    • @katarey
      @katarey 3 года назад +2

      @@cheryldoughty2638 well, I really bought in at first and I started hitting up friends and family. I soon realized that my network of people I was comfortable selling to was pretty small and that I am not cut out for selling. That's number one I think, they will always say that it's easy and anyone can do it but of course, they will say anything to get you in. You must know yourself and if you are an extreme go getter or not. For me, I realized that isn't how I want to make money. Also, when I joined, my area was already pretty saturated with Thrive so most people already knew about it.
      A major thing that made me realize this was not a good system was that when I did have customer concerns, and took them to my upline, they were completely unhelpful and kind of dismissive. Several people I approached said Thrive seemed expensive to which my leader said "hmm, I've never had anyone say that to me." (Umm, seriously!?) Another customer actually had a bad reaction and my leader said "oh, that can't be Thrive, I've never heard of that happening and I have worked with hundreds of people [who do Thrive]."
      Those two awful responses made me want out so I just basically quit and ghosted. It simply wasn't worth it for me personally.

I guess it might really work for others who haven't already been conscientious about eating well and taking vitamins (and drinking caffeine! :D) but I just could never honestly make the same glowing claims.

    My wife tried it and felt great , no side effects. I can see what your saying and can totally agree from your stand point what could potentially be a worry for individuals who are concerned with side effects. So with consideration to what you said I’m also am thinking about how in order to really start taking anything safely in this world without side effects you need to ask a professional and how it may be almost impossible for everyone in the world to have the ability to get the right testing done ( blood tests etc) to get a thorough understanding of what their body needs and doesn’t need and of course depending on different seasons in life (think pregnancy, breastfeeding , etc) everything fluctuates. Almost every ingredient or supplement we take can have a negative connotation with it so the only thing we can do as people without degrees like you is possibly try to get the best advice by watching videos like this and yet hope for the best if we decide to yield to the excitement of the crowd that is raving about its outcome lol.

    Thank you for taking the time to give out this helpful information. I was just given some of this "life changing" stuff. So of course I asked a bunch of questions about it and was told oh it's this stuff that will give you energy, help lose weight, give you the nutrients that your body is lacking. I got on the website to see what I could find out, but it wasn't very helpful. I went ahead and tried it out. First day took the 2 pills, drank shake & wore the patch. I felt fine at first then as the day went on I got super shaky, light headed, moody! I took the patch off immediately.
    2nd day I decided to just take 1 pill no shake or patch and my heart was beating what felt like out of my chest. I had severe mood swings & insomnia.
    3rd day I just drank the shake and I don't feel near the side effects or shakiness but I'm not enjoying it. I also felt like I had taken imodium because of the extra trips to the bathroom. 😷 I decided to get on RUclips to see about any reviews, and I found this video. I can see why it was making me feel like I was on an emotional/digestive rollercoaster. I'm DONE with this product! I will make sure to let people know about your video as well. I had headaches for the first 10 days and huge mood swings/irritability after the energy peak. The person I bought it from said it's cuz I was eating meat. I only include meat 2-3 meals a week, but even if that was the case, I thought this was to supplement your current lifestyle? There's no magic pill or powder to make you healthy. Nothing made me feel at my best like exercise, a clean diet and seamoss. That's just my experience and I saw this video before I started. 2) I love this breakdown of each supplemet/product and the ingredients in each one. You hit the nail spot on with so many points made and it'll be so important for people to be aware of ingredients they may or may not need, but also _cannot have_ with underlying health c9nditions. I.e. the willow bark, abundance of caffeine, as well as what you said about the regular use of laxatives (it absolutely causes the body to stop working properly on it's own and rebound constipation can happen if it's stopped after a long time).

    That stuff about recommending things for everyone being irresponsible, I'd say that extends to a lot of things, including skin care and cosmetics. I hate statements like "for all skin types" and take "sensitive" labels with MANY grains of salt. Other than the obvious color stuff in cosmetics, different ingredients are taken differently on different skin. As someone with really sensitive skin, I go straight to the ingredients lists of products I consider trying BEFORE trying them. I do this obsessively, often re-reading them in case I missed something, because if I don't, I suffer the consequences. Even if there isn't anything there that I know irritates my skin, many products meant for sensitive skin are more catered to dry skin as opposed to the oily end of combo that I am on. If a product is too heavy, I break out. I know that's anecdotal technically; but it does go along with how acne works. Fun fact, skin irritation is a common yet lesser-known trigger for breakouts.

    Hey! I am new to the channel. This the first video I’ve watched. I was searching withdrawal symptoms of not taking thrive. I have been doing thrive for 3 months. I only do the 3 step. No other products. I have noticed that if I skip more then two days I get really sick. When I go back on I spend the next few days with terrible stomach issues. I’m planning on going off the products. Do you think that I’m having withdrawal symptoms from the caffeine?

    • @dietitiankat
      @dietitiankat  3 года назад +3

      Oh wow! I haven't heard anyone mention this side effect. Might very well be the caffeine but there's so many other ingredients, I would check with a call in nurse-line if you have insurance. I know many of them have free calls with an RN. I'm sorry I can't help more 😔. I would say to taper off and maybe use decaf or chocolate to help minimize caffeine withdrawal from the products, but I'm not sure about that specifically.

    Came here via a critique of le-vel/thrive. I am related to a genuinely successful *Thriving* couple, whose FB pages are picture/pitch perfect tableaus.
    I only visit the cognitive dissonance on rare occasions- and this year *you* are my reward ;->!
    I was so grateful for your introductory evaluation - your explanation of the logical differences in the *nature* - of credible scientific findings and innately singular anecdotal "reviews"!
    Breaking down the rationally obvious can be a thankless task in a culture where ignorance is a virtue, and critical thinking is heresy.
    Literacy involves doing exactly that, subject by subject: *the ability to MAKE MEANING* about something*
    I have always been aware of America's intransigent hypocrisy, for instance, but listening to historian Heather Cox Richardson has made me historically literate: took my skepticism and curiosity and connected the dots.
    Listening to you go through each and every ingedient was amazing- NOT because of the information, but because it revealed the depth and breadth of your perspective - and the multiple disciplines informing it. And you changed me.
    I am 74, and my lay background is in natural foods - from back when those promoting it were small stores & coops.
    You were the foods you ate : not the capsules you swallowed ;->
    Of course i learned - and remember - and keep learning - a lot about nutrition.
    I "know" that action takes place at molecular levels - and that everything is systemically connected.
    But those are just words - i have ZERO chemical education/visualization.
    I've never *internalized* the relationship.
    But listening to you, "just" doing nuts and bolts - gathered all the scattered bits - added a transparent layer to the whole.
    You reached and changed my imagination.
    As a teacher and a student, i know it doesn’t get any better than that ❤

    Thrive appears to be legal speed. I have some friends that are obsessed but losing weight isn't worth destroying your heart. My one friend always posts videos of herself working out. That's part of the reason it works, it costs a lot and they need to pay for it so it motivates these women to become a walking advertisement. If you starve yourself and work out for hours a day, you're going to get results. Speed is never the answer, discipline is.

    Well, It worked for my body. Prior to thrive I was sleeping my days away with 16 hours of sleep. 8 hours at night and a 4 hour nap struggled with all over body aches. I lived at Starbucks and coffee was like an IV drip that I needed to get through my days as a mom of 4 with twins. Working full time.
    I felt like I was failing at life in general.
    It took the edge off my mood was happier. It made me to feel better, sleep deeper at night, no need for naps, gave me enough energy and clarity to provide a presence in my life and for my kids. I know that you haven’t taken it. I will say that you do have a snarky know -it-all ego tone overall. But I listened to see what kinda bashing you planned on doing because I could tell in the first 10 mins you were biased. Speaking of something you hadn’t taken or experienced. I guess, was lucky enough that it worked for my body and for my life & my experience.

    • @dietitiankat
      @dietitiankat  3 года назад +6

      I’m glad you have a good experience! I definitely don’t know it all, just based info off the resources! 😊 I have several concerns about it, but a big one is that many times I’ve seen people in situations use it versus making other lifestyle changes (not saying you didn’t try anything else, I’m not going to speak for you, but many don’t try those other changes first and then have to remain purchasing year after year).
      As far as the comment about me speaking on something I haven’t tried, I just hope you keep the same energy for anyone who recommends not taking street drugs when they haven’t tried it themselves. Or with a doctor who recommends chemo for a patient when they haven’t had cancer themselves...I guess they shouldn’t recommend any treatment or medication they haven’t personally tried?

You mentioned they're a health and wellness company and expected them to use proper terminology when referencing their sculpt product. One other thing you might be interested to know is how this "health and wellness" company is planning their semi annual trip to Mexico in February in the middle of a pandemic. Interesting. Doesn't seem to be such a health conscious company to me. And my dietician also expressed concerns with the caffeine content in it. This is simply excellent work. Thank you for taking the time to give all of us a scientifically sound analysis of the products sold as Thrive. There is likely a bit of a placebo effect with products (like those evaluated here) because they set the stage for "amazing," life changing, experiences. But as harmless as a placebo effect might be, you have pointed out some real concerns related to these products that are based in actual science. I hope people will listen with an open mind, but I fear that those who need to hear it most, will not.

      I'm glad you're going back to working out and eating intentionally! I've never heard of Yoli, but glad it has less complaints! lol

    I understand anecdotal evidence but are studies not done on a % of groups and their symptoms/effects of whatever product or medicine they're studying?

    I just went cold turkey off of THRIVE this week because of cost and other things. Been having headaches especially in the morning which I believe is because of the lack of caffeine and other caffeine like ingredients. Thank you for your video it is so informative as helpful.

    A lot of reputable supplement companies use 5htp in their formulas. From what i have read , all 5htp is not created equal and its important to know where it is being sourced from (don't buy if sourced in china). I tried thrive and it made me very anxious and overstimulated. When i explained this, i was told i was detoxing. But when i researched all of the ingredients, i didn't see any ingredients that are known to detox the body. I do a TON of research and i am well versed on products that detox and can cause a herx effect. I am open to being wrong - but i did not see any ingredient in the patch, capsule, or shake that would detox you. I was also told that certain products were caffeine free despite containing green coffee bean extract. I was told that only the antioxidents were extracted from the green coffee bean, but not the caffeine. Is that even possible?

      It made my mom really anxious and she was also told she was probably “detoxing” from the seller. Odd.

    As far as the PEA and manic behavior um that’s why you show your Dr. My Dr said I need pre and probiotics to help stop me from having UTIs again ask a Dr not a dietary person only your Dr knows about your medical information so yeah

    I started thrive about 2 months ago and I really do feel great! More energy better sleep but I have noticed headaches a little more often than I ever got before! I’m wondering if from the supplement- honest question though I know of many Drs and nurses who use thrive so why would they use it if it’s bad for you?

      If you take the products with stevia it could be causing the headaches or the caffeine. It could be anything really! But that’s what I think of first! I get migraines so I’m always considerate of ingredients that can cause headaches.

      Doesn’t mean they know about everything in the product if they are a doctor or nurse. If they feel like it helps they’ll keep taking it.

      I’ve seen nurses take smoke breaks, so let’s not assume they never make a bad health decision. And I would love to know which doctors actually take and recommend these products. Otherwise it’s just hearsay.

    I have another question. What exactly do u mean by digestive issues ?

    • @dietitiankat
      @dietitiankat  3 года назад +1

      Great question! Gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, potentially even blood in stool, nausea, etc. there are so many reasons why these can occur and can range from very serious to a small food sensitivity. Even within food sensitivities, treatment and causes can be very different. It’s important to do a full assessment before recommending any product in gut health patients, and it considered to be Medical Nutrition Therapy. People can get fined for practicing without a license and it can make issues worse for people if not properly trained.

      I think what hurts most is that they also take advantage of people at the end of their stress and who are just looking for anything to help. Vulnerable situations make people act in odd ways 😔
