The Boys are still kicking ass. Love them for loving Bowie.
Wild boys.
Simon has such a FABULOUS voice
He is the bets!!!
Fact
Wonderful...Simon i love you ❤
Great voice...great Duran Duran...fantastic!!
Never sounded better!
Love the way he interpreted this!
I remember Christmas 1985, my Uncle Kevin told me Duran Duran wasn’t a “real band” and I wouldn’t remember them by the time I was 40. Well, I am 48, have seen them 8 times, and I still want to marry Simon.
I had a similar conversation with my dad when I was a teenager. I've seen them a dozen times, and every time I do, I call him from the venue and tell him "Hey, guess what - I'm about to see Duran Duran again! Guess you were wrong!"
Sadly, I lost my dad last month and won't be able to keep this tradition up. :(
I wanted to marry John. But I'm ok with what I got.
Jajajajajajajajaa
Same🤣❤️
I still want to marry Simon too!
Simon's voice just doesn't grow old, amazing!
A year later and I am realizing how amazing he sounded here. As a long-time fan, I have witness many times his voice cracking. Not once in this performance.
Nothing could be more emblematic and exciting than the number one fan band of Bowie to cover the song 5 YEARS just in the fifth year of his return to stardust! Love it!
I love this comment!
😍
You might find that most bands of their generation were No 1 fans of David Bowie's. Nearly all the New Romantic and New Wave bands. The Blitz guys had one theme song: Heroes.
absolute legends covering an absolute legend
This is not an easy song to cover. Simon de Bon did a superb job
I only have one thing to say: Duran Duran is one of the best bands of all time!
I agree with you ( from Italy)
better than Eyonce and bIBBER.
Why is Duran Duran the only pop group that's like a fine wine?!
Simon's voice is still golden as when I first heard him way back in the eighties. I love Duran Duran.....a great band.
Even better 💪
Completely credible cover of a Bowie masterpiece. Bravo, Duran Duran.
I seriously cannot stop watching this. Simon’s vocals are soooo good.
I have to admit, I only watched (listened to) it a few times over the past year...but this time, for some reason, I noticed something else, and have revisited it about 20 times since last night. I can't get enough of the vocal range Simon showcased here. How did I miss it during their first performance of this last year? Shame on me.,
they were not touched up in post production.
@@melissademidov112 ¹Q+
Its insane how Duran Duran is still fucking Duran Duran!!! This is great. They still sound so good
Nah. No where near as good as they were.
Austin how about just saying "Duran Duran is still Duran Duran" and leave out profanity huh? Grow up.
You're right they sound incredible though however Nick needs to lose the eyeliner he looks really bad with it
Fanboys in a fight.
@@NintendoPsycho wouldn't call it a fan boy fight though? He's pissed about swearing 🤬😂 Not duran duran
Gosh I'm only 32 years old, Duran Duran is amazing, I remember my mom playing their music when I was young... Now I play it all the time, and my kids love it too. They are true pioneers, extremely talented, and I am so thankful for their amazing art!!!
That’s awesome. I remember when I was on deployment serving in the Navy, my old Navy Captain on the ship I was on, we were pulling into Rio and he decided to play “Rio” throughout the whole ship over the speaker system. The whole entire crew and I we were manning the rails singing to the whole entire song which was super awesome and funny. Good times in Rio.
@Robert Fiore Thank you for the kind words Robert!! Cheers 🍻🍻
Pretty much perfect. When so many singers' voices deteriorate in later years, S LeB's just gets better. And this drumming is sweeeeeeeet
This song and video is just so amazing and impressive especially the fact that each band member was filmed individually playing in their own homes in LA and London, so they put them all together in this video to make it look like they were all in the same area. This song is just so amazing and Simons voice is even better today than ever and the guys all look so amazing, I really hope they put this Bowie song on their new up coming album that would be great. Excellent work Duran Duran!!
Muchas gracias por tu aporte. Desconocía esos detalles.
Wow, didn't know this either...so cool! Looks like they are in the same room together.
Son 3 canciones cover que conozco que son mejores que las originales y duran duran canta dos de ellas, perfect day y five years
I wish they wouldn't have shown the string section when Simon was belting his heart out. He sounded so gooooooood here!
I believe Nick and John were big fans of Bowie,as teenagers. So Duran Duran did, in a way, grew out of David Bowie.
Duran is Class*.
Their sound 81-85 is much much more Roxy Music than anyone else.
Simon is actually biggest Bowie fan
@@DJXLX Then maybe John is the big Roxy fan.
@@ColtraneTaylor oh yeay
And Nick of Japan 😉
Their cover of Fame is pretty amazing. I still have the 12" single.
I remember the interview Simon gave at the time of Bowie’s passing filmed by his friend Vuk Vidor. DB was a massive influence to him from the age of 14. In fact he wanted to be him. He couldn’t believe he’d died. His extraordinary & passionate vocals here, I think, demonstrate his desire to give his all - significant vocal & diaphragm training to achieve those long notes; Singing with his heart on his sleeve. I love this DD track; such passion, emotion and dedication.
you have articulated how i felt most adequately, thank you. i couldn't find the words :)
I just love JTs love of ballads. Every time Simon sings a ballad he gets so emotional. It has that effect on him.
I keep coming back to this song. Bowie’s original is so perfect, and like someone else commented, you’ve gotta have balls to cover it… but leave it to Simon, Nick, and the boys to give it the love and care it deserves. And holy crapola, Simon just sings the everloving shit out of it- he is magnificent. When he holds that high G at 2:48 and it effortlessly just locks right in, I could die… and then that B at the end… holy crap, it’s glorious.
Nick’s eye makeup is still on point after 40 years.
reminded me of his "Notorious" looks, but this wingtip is sharper.
Yep! Youre right..lol
I hope he continues to do it forever too!
I expect nothing else from him
Even better, imo!
R.I.P. Ser Bowie! Thank U Duran!
OMG! Simon still has his 1980s voice absolutely beautiful 🙏❤️
I remember back in the 80's when these guys were on MTV every 15 minutes. The 80's were great times......
Gorgeous tribute to David Bowie, you've done him proud. I lost my sister 5 years ago, as well, so this has extra meaning for me. ❤️...And I always love seeing "tiger baby".
@@Cocolocas ❤️
Grew up with Duran Duran and they are sounding as good has ever. Brilliant..
His voice is still the best on the Earth
Oh My God...this amazing band never disappoints me. The voice of Simon and the charisma of Nick are awesome. I have been following DD since my 15´s and 35 years later sound even better.
They have aged brilliantly. Duran had their first hit 40 years ago. Doesn't time go by so swiftly.
But not for them they haven’t aged!
They are like fine wine
"Simon Stardust and the Taylor's from Mars". Sounds great!
Es una bendición tener a Duran Duran al día de hoy vigentes y con buena música.... Grande DD!!!! 👍 👍 👍 👍
I have just enjoyed the Bowie celebration of his 75 th birthday , which was wonderful , but this version of five years from last year still takes the prize . Congratulations . H.
Thank You, for all this Years, Love you Duran Duran, 🙏😇🙏💋💋💋💋💋🎙🎸🥁🎷🎹🎼🎵🎶
Their style, it is a vision to behold.
I’m one of those critical Duran fans. Love them and sometimes wanna shout curse words at them. ‘White lines’ being exhibit No.1. Arcadia was a great idea that should have done better critically.. Remember sneaking to see them in the mid 80s at the NEC. Happy days. This is a surprisingly tricky Bowie song to cover but I wasn’t expecting it to be this good. Simons voice is in the best shape I’ve heard for ages and he nailed it with passion. I got into Bowie via DD so thanking them for starting my musical journey and for this perfect tribute to the man who fell to earth.
Their cover of "White Lines" is INCREDIBLE!
Hello your not alone I am a fan too you have great taste . good night .
Five years ago we lost you David 😔👨🏼🎤
Amazing! Big shout to Duran Duran & special thanks to Gavin 👑 Simon, Roger, John and Nick- We fans all love you so much!
Thanks for this beautiful songs during this difficult times. Stay safe all, Saranghaeyo Duran Duran! 🥰
These guys never fail on delivering a cover song. They make it their own. Well done chaps.
garson shines, it’s awesome that he gave his talents and time to duran/this tribute.
I cannot convey how much I love this song, both Bowie's version and this version. Simon....his voice never sounded better. He is still the most amazing man in the world to me.
One of the best vocals I’ve ever heard from Simon. Ever since they covered Fame on the B side of Careless memories I’ve loved their Bowie covers. There love and respect for him is always so evident
I am so blown away by Simon's voice in this song. All these years and he still sounds absolutely amazing! They are all still gorgeous. Such a talented band. I have loved them since 1982 ❤️
Simon's voice!what incredible it is after many years!
The boys were Teenagers when Bowie was on the the Top of the pops that night. Thursday July 6th, 1972.... Love it
Mike Garson is David Bowie's pianist.
The earth is round
Oooh
@@ruanlinkerpessoa3946 tell us something we don’t know
Watching as a Duran Duran fan and not a Bowie fan I didn’t know either so thanks.
@@gus4u2c ok here is another one: irony
Simon says Duran Duran is the absolute best!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I knew Duran Duran would do this song justice. ❤
I love that they do music that they love. Their passion comes thru so strongly. Been loving them since 1983 ❤
Simon seems to be wearing his "tiger baby" necklace he wore in the 80s! 🐅
Excellent cover, Bowie would be proud. Simon still looks great for his age!
Nick still looks elegant as always! Though I will always miss his Arcadia look!
What a beautiful gift, to see Duran Duran together again, especially during this pandemic. They honor their hero, David Bowie, with their amazing music and vocals. I also love how SLB still wears his tiger necklace, from the 80s!
Perfect! They still look good! Side note, it’s been five years since David Bowie left us. Still sad...
I honestly, in the 40 years of listening to Simon le Bon singing, I don't believe he has ever held a tune as long and as well as he did in this performance. Amazing!
I'm not usually a fan of covers, but when I heard this it blew me away. Been a Bowie fan since a teenager, early 70's, you did him proud. The piano sounds just as it did too. Hec, just seen whose on piano. Awesome
check out Duran Duran's version of Fame.
Ditto on Fame
@@Bawbster1 I will thanks
Nick playing his iconic Roland Jupiter-8 and that unique style. Love it boys! Bring Andy Taylor back for a new album. 2021 Duran Duran ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I don't think Andy is interested in coming back.
My favourite band covering a song by my favourite artist! Heaven!
As Long As The World Has Duran Duran, We Can Go On Living.
Aww, I am still in love with my Duran Duran after all these years !!!!!
Ive loved Bowie since he was a shaggy haired folk singer and always dread anyone covering anything he ever created because they will never do it justice. "5 years" is one of Bowies most beautiful creations and still makes me cry after all these years. This version by Duran Duran has done Bowie proud. ❤
I totally agree!! Really - full credit to the old guys for resurrecting /showcasing it for the next generation looking back for 80s inspiration!
Placebo’s version was also good. IMHO even better than Duran Duran’s version.
Still rock and rolling and still very fashionable. Some people hate this band and critisize them because of Envy.i Love this band since 1981...
Wow! What a tribute to the late and great, David Bowie. I think that Simon's voice sounds even better today.
Thank you guys!❤
Bowie are still alive shining and singing in our Hearts... I believe he was there, watching Duran Duran and all the other artists doing this beautiful tribute. I admire and thank Mike Garson for all!
For me, still the greathest band, voice, elegance & modern videos.
i cannot stop watching this. Moves me to tears every time. I am so glad i chose to follow a band from my home city, from the same place as me and for them to consistently keep nailing their art after all these years, my god how lucky am i? are we? to have these people, this band, in our lives? please, please, please continue and do what makes you happy boys. Thank you. Kevin, from Birmingham :)
From the Animals, to Lady Gaga, Lou Reed, Led Zep, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Steve Harley, and so many more. Duran is not only the greatest original band of our time but also the greatest cover band of all time!
Always perfection...boys you have to make records at least another 20 years we need you 🥰
Fuck Covid. I´ll remember this song brought a cheer while we were indoors.Long live David and all those Bowie lovers (DD included and Mike included)
God love you guys. You give me strength to go on. Never stop.
Duran Duran to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2021 for sure and forever, they deserve it so much !
OMG OMG DURAN DURAN ARE THE WORLD'S GREATEST BAND THAT SONG WAS AMAZING AND SIMON YOUR VOICE HAS GROWN RICHER AND MORE POWERFUL IT'S QUITE FRANKLY BRILLIANT, YOU HAVE MADE ME CRY, I LOVE YOU GUYS SEE YOU IN SCARBOROUGH xx
Duran Duran is immortal
My favorite band since I was 11. will be 49. I was glad to take my daughter to see them in concert. She was raised on their music. she loved All she wants is and save a prayer, come undone
@@aprilbrown9655That is so great! Im 21 and they are my favorite band too since I was little. And my mother introduced me to their music just like you with your daughter. Their music is sheer sublime and compelling and I love and respect duran duran so much . You are so lucky to see them at concert .
We were talking about them today. I want to c them one more time. My daughter will be 21 this year. We love Duran Duran so much
Duran Duran and David Bowie... what else???
Amazing❤️
The world will start getting better now that Duran has released new music...it always does.
Nick Rhodes looks like the God of the Underworld here and I AM LOVING IT
Just utterly joyful. Yes it’s bowie. You just can’t touch it. But this means so much to me. I remember sprinting home. With the Relfex single. It was a beautiful day. Poignantly I think we do have five years. To get out of this. And hopefully see duran back at the Edinburgh playhouse. Barrowlands. Sec hydro. My mums living room. She’d be happy to have you boys. ,,!, Utterly great. Well done lads. The legend of bowie lives on.
Poignantly?
I hear that they are recording a new version. The Reflux. (Fluc-fluc-fluc)
I absolutely love Duran Duran. I was just having a DD marathon yesterday with my 7 year old daughter who loves them as much as I do. They sound as great as ever, and Simon's voice is still incredible.
Super questa versione di " Five years " di David Bowie cantata dal grandissimo Simon Le Bon .
Unbelievable beautiful thing. Duran duran and D Bowie. My heart thing.
Why hasn't it started yet?
Always innovative, love the light waves. Simon's vocals are all that, John back in good health, yes! Almost the original lineup makes me happy. Great sound, love my Duran Duran.
Only a band like this can cover Bowie.
No way..they sound like amateurs on one of those reality TV shows!!
@@robertshirley3422 You're entitled to your wrong opinion.

Love these guys, love that they love Bowie and love it was them that introduced sommany of us to him. Tx bros!
From Fame to Five Years. Can't get enough!
Don't forget NIN's (very recent) cover of Fashion!

That's Bowie's "Aladdin Sane" pianist, Mick Garson.
Thanks, I was wondering. Sort of disappointed that it wasn't Nick, because I had given him mental props when listening to it for the first time. Really cool that they included him.

And his The Buddha of Suburbia pianist
And his 1.Outside pianist

This is such a beautiful and somber song yet so poignant and unforgettable. And they do such a beautiful version of it.
so undervalued and actually they always deliver such good things. Depeche mode can really pack up.
No need to put one band down to compliment another.
This is even MORE special with Mick on the piano! I have loved this band since 1982. They are just as phenomenal now as then!! Always a Duranie💖🤩
Man, never heard so much bass in a song before. Great cover of a Bowie hit by the legend that is Duran Duran!
you never heard so much bass?? seriously you need to broaden your musical horizons

Nick Rhodes makes me so proud to own a Roland JD-XA, using it for the chords on this track.
I wish I could 'like' this track more than once. I have been listening to it at least once a day since its release.
It feels like Simon Le Bon was channeling Bowie when he sang this.
Duran Duran is one thing in this world that always make me feel young.
35 years with you, guys. Imagine that. Thank you.
Love you guys 💕💕 fantastic rendition of this song Bowie would be so proud. You guys are just amazing and looking fantastic too
Long long time duran duran still the best...
This is a beast of a song to cover. I listened to this the day Bowie died and cried. His version, but Duran Duran does a great job.
Can't stop 🛑 playing this amazin song and video 📹 by the most talented band on planet earth 🌍 oh and happy 40th anniversary to day duran duran planet earth released 40 yrs ago February 2nd 1981 congratulations to the best band!!!! Luv you guys fantastic
They all grew up with Bowie and have a history of doing Bowie covers throughout their career. This was a nice one and well-produced. Especially the video considering they were all in separate locations and composited together later. And yes, I love Nick's over-the-top eyeliner in this one! But they're all great and I think they learned a lot over the years of what makes a successful group and brand.
Wow. When you realize they recorded separately due to the pandemic, it makes the song hit even harder... like we're really living in it.
5 years! A beautiful album first track...
Damn these guys are good! Who's with me ?
The best vocal of Le Bon’s career? I can’t think of a better performance.
I love Duran Duran ever!!!!! My favorite group. They are the best.
This made my day! Duran Duran fan through and through
