- Film maker Adriaan De Koning followed Gareth de Wijk a.k.a. Thrasher in 2017, when PRSPCT reached its 15th year of existence. He created this documentary which tells the story of PRSPCT and how the DIY mentality from punk helped Thrasher create a successful independent label.
PRSPCT was born from the debris of the punkrock ethos, responsible for merging drum & bass, hardcore and breakcore to one scene and culture.
“PRSPCT is for a lot of people these days, a lot of kids, a lot of artists, an important thing at the moment… and that can stress me the fuck out”
PRSPCT is a lifechanger.
I always was into harder genres like metal, hardcore, drum & bass etc but around 10 years ago the hardcore scene was turning into a one trick pony imo. Every month so many releases that sounded the same. It was commercializing in a high pace.
As my taste in music became more defined through the years, I was exploring boundaries and I came in touch with hardcore drum & bass and crossbreed.
It was a whole new level of energy for me with the constantly changing rhythms.
Many years later it's still a huge part of my daily life.

I think Gareth can be really proud of what PRSPCT has become, one of the few labels to consistently release quality music!
All of the artists in this documentary could use a documentary of their own, they all made some revolutionary tracks that shaped underground electronic music!!
waited a year, missed it at maasillo due to having way too much fun, really inspired me.
fuck im just a random student in the UK, studying to do something i hope one day makes a change, music from this label makes my goals feel achievable, call it magic or energy or whatever the fuck.
Prspcts music helps me feel sane again, helps me remain individual, helps me maintain every last ounce of fuck you i have in my body,
thanks to all the guys who made this label possible, thanks thrasher, you've really helped me through a tough time.
This label offered and continues to offer something that really isn't available anywhere else. Thrasher is right that it means so much to so many -- this is for good reason. It fills a hole in the musical sphere a lot of people don't want to see empty.
I have massive respect for PRSPCT and for Thrasher but when he said he wants to piss of religious people.. Im even more excited!

Cool stuff .. Really diggin the more Jungle side from FFF & Coco Bryce recently overall some cool releases though. Was great to see PSPCT at QBass and hope to make one in Rotterdam sometime. Keep up the good work.
This needs a DVD/Blu-Ray release.

Have been a label fan since around 2007, and had a pleasure to meet the Boss twice on a two small PRSPCT gigs years ago, in my hometown Wroclaw, Poland.

Defenitely Gareth and his helpers did something fresh in the underground music scene with PRSPCT label.
It was fun to watch the label evolve and grow.
Starting with off with hard but forward thinking dnb, then spawning the whole dnb X hc/crossbreed thing by merging both scenses together,
and now expanding even more into many directions bringing together dnb, jungle, hc, breakcore, industrial techno, etc.
All with that hc/punk attitude, in DIY style.
It's still fresh, and impressive.

He doesn't believe in gods, not realising he is one himself. Been a huge fan of PRSPCT since the beginning, when I was just a 12 year old girl. Now almost dirty thirty. Can't wait for PRSPCT in december, going to feel like my first ever edition, magical!

if you think about it, it worked because in a way it was a come back to the roots, and upgrading them with the contemporary sense of what is "hard".
Jungle and DNB came directly from hardcore, and back in a day hardcore was a melting pot of 4x4 (house, techno, acid, etc.) beats and breakbeats, and then it has split and evolved into many different subgneres.
please get a bigger table for your technics before they fall off!

Let me quickly steal a quote which imo. nowadays fits much more to you guys than anywhere else; "make history before you go!" And that's what you did from the ground up, outta nowhere. PRSPCT is the kinda lovely choosen circle of family. Like gabber/hardcore was, until it had like 2 waves/phases of beeing flooded by the trend-society "fishes"..😅🤟🏻

i remember first time hearing a crossover between hardcore and dnb was in a liveset from the panacea, i already was into both styles and i was extremely surprised to hear them mixed together
