Hey Dave, i know were back a few year's with this video, but i wanted to say i did go out and purchase this Block and Tackle after watching your very informative video, although i have never had to use it yet, i make sure i always bring it with me. THANKS Dave for making these video's, i know they are a lot of work.
Mmmmm, salivating over your MXZ670! I had a 96 MXZ670 for about five years and ended up selling it when family problems arose. Me and my group of friends swear by the 670 as one of the best motors made, along with the local mechanics at the dealer. Loved that sled.
I ordered mine a few days ago, be a handy tool for getting unstuck, I ride solo and far, so be nice to have some peace of mind should I get stuck, we both know it happens, especially up on the peninsula snow gets deep, nice to see winter returning finally
Thanks Dave that's a useful little tool right there 👍 Small enough for any sportsman to take in his kit as well, hey ya never know? Nice place you got there! We just got about 2 ft of snow here in Western New York.. Riding is pretty good right now.
One thing to mention, not only is the sled 500lbs, but if you are pushing or pulling it you have additional weigh to over come the with friction of the lugs (and studs) that are sunk into the snow, and the friction of the skis. This is a great idea, I'm going to look into getting one to carry. I never thought of this one.
Hi Michael, Thanks for watching and commenting. I love them too. As long as it goes on the snow, it's ok with me, but I do really like the look of these. When I was looking for a sled, I just kept looking until I found one in my price range.
Brilliantly choreographed video Dave. Just an FYI that I'm not sure if Al mentioned to you. He sent the Nifty-Lift to Polytechnic Institute of Mass for a thorough stress testing and the first failure was to the line with a pull test that measured just under 5,800 lbs!!! Very incredible considering the size of the Unit. I show on my channel, the Nifty-Lift picking up my 700+ lb garden tractor. Give it a look if you so choose. Cheers! Zip~
Thanks Z. He did tell me that, I felt it was best to stick to the weights he references in his material and site. Because it's 4 to 1 purchase, it can get confusing. (Hooking directly to shackles vs a line to the shackles etc) I think I have seen your tractor video when I was doing my research. Thanks for watching & commenting.
Good up Dave...and yeah on paper these new sleds might be light.but nothing beats the old fan cooled phazer or even a old indy wedge ..ALOT lighter then todays new sleds.my sisteer bought a new cat ,even being a two stroke its a real tank to move, need help or one of these.
Yes, its basically just a block and tackle. This one is notable for its size, quality construction and the strength of the cordage. Thanks for watching.
I dug my bearcat in 2 meters of wet snow last spring and i had to call for 2 sleds to pull me out... lifting it would've been practicly impossible... the snow was packed in the track and turned to solid rock...
The key is it's made of stainless steel and aluminum. There is nothing worse than rusty tools. I think the bag that it comes in could be more heavy duty and water proof so when it's bouncing around in your storage compartment it won't do damage and will stay dry. Dave ! Sit down on your sled when reversing out of the shed ! Mark Bow
Lol..no worries I was being carful. Most important is not standing. It's a pain getting around the snowblower if I don't feel like moving it. I agree the bag could be better. I think its a new company, trying to keep costs as low as possible, putting $ into the product before packaging.
I have seen your video about standing and reversing...then I went out and did it anyway. I had the EXACT same tumble over the handlebars you did... Guess some of us years the heard ways. 😀
It's gonna happen to most of us eventually...in this video, in fairness, I wasn't really standing, I was kneeling off to one side, I wouldn't have gone over...actually I started kinda sitting on my one boot stood up as I came past the blower...Still the safest place is seated....
I'm terrified that my sled will break down and I will need to leave it at the Sno-park. I have a larger block and tackle and I realize I should at least be leaving this in my car. I'm trying to get my wife to come with me more too...this could be a useful tool for getting unstuck since she doesn't have the muscle to yank on a sled. As we live to say "smarter, not harder".
I can relate....it does suck when you don't have a lot of friends with sleds. Sometimes you have to ride alone. Keep up the maintenance, bring a few sensible items, and then just go have fun without worrying too much. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Cant hurt to have it but, for lifting ? on the trail ? out and about ? for pulling add 2 or more tow straps 30 foot at least, voice of experience here, really, I carry a come a long, slower but in a hole, 3 feet of snow or more.
We could have used this to drag our sled up on the trailer when it broke down lol. Also, we have the same exact sled '97 Skidoo MXZ 670. Have you ever had any problems of yours just shutting down completely and losing all power at random times. I will be going pretty fast (60-70 mph) on a frozen lake and it will just completely shut off. No power at all. We wait until the next day and it starts up first pull. Weird.
hi david, im pretty new to your channel and ive been really impressed with your videos, however i have a question for you that i cant find online im hopping you can help me. my snowmobile is having an issue with stability it wants to pull me around when maintaining an average speed. accelerating and decelerating feel fine its just maintaining a speed it feels unstable, any ideas?
Awesome! Def gonna look into it. Currently I'm carrying a 3/8" rope & 3 Aluminum SMC Crevasse Rescue Pulleys ($16 ea @ REI) & locking carabiners to attach as 2:1 or 3:1 using a Z Rig system with prussics. Pretty good and super lightweight. But this appears even more compact in use & Super lightweight/compact rope! I'm guessing it's harder to pull this super thin rope even wearing gloves but 4:1 helps lots. Considered paracord, but hadn't trialed the Ultra 1700# paracord though I've seen it. I've also tested even heavy duty 1" or 2" webbing ratchet tie downs but they just don't generate enough pull with just 1:1. They're not a cum-a-long, and with webbing stretch, IF they work at all, they barely inch the sled along before they're fully wound around the ratchet part & you have to reset. Can barely move sled on flat or maybe very slight incline - could never pull it even part way uphill from a ditch, etc. May I'll switch to this system & test again!
Hi Hiker. Yes, the thin chord makes it a little harder to hang on to, but when I really wanted to heave it up something steeper, I tied a bowline in it or wrapped it around a stick. I think the fact that it's compact makes up for it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I would have loved the snow to do that, as would every other snowmobilers in Ontario :) regardless of how much snow it's in, it would still give you a 4:1 mechanical advantage. It would take more effort in snow, but four times more effort without it.
My Old Sled I agree I just bought a www.thesnowjack.com haven't used it yet. I have both of the snobunje.com and they work really well, but it's hard to use effectively by yourself..
My Old Sled Yes we get deep snow here, so it's very easy to get stuck in 4' of powder. Makes it nearly impossible, to lift the back of your sled. Lifting a 600lbs sled, that has snow in every crevice, out of a hole is quite the feat. Im financialy stable enough that I can afford to purchase things to Experiment...
Hi Gary...suspect a dolly would be a less than ideal way to get a sled unstuck or move it in deep snow...and where would you carry it when you're out on the trail ?? Thanks for watching and commenting!

Pro tip for anyone without a pully. Take off the belt. Moves a lot easier
Just rotate the secondary it's soo easy
Thank for letting me know man

Ew. Saliva. :)

I think they're great.
Thanks Dave that's a useful little tool right there 👍

Thanks for rubbing it in Bill :)

Thanks for the comment Snowrocks. I was really pleasantly surprised at how effective it was.
I bought one because of your video and I love it. It's going in my emergency pack on the sled with the snobunje cobra!!
Hi Fred. It is a pretty cool tool. Even without the pulleys, the cables pretty cool. Thanks for watching.
That's why I own two small snowmobiles a 440 Jag and Tundra 250
Great tip. Good excuse to buy another sled!
And the out takes are a good touch
I have the same sled as you except mine is a 440 fan. Love this chassis
Hi Michael, Thanks for watching and commenting. I love them too. As long as it goes on the snow, it's ok with me, but I do really like the look of these. When I was looking for a sled, I just kept looking until I found one in my price range.

Nice little tool. Now all I have to do is carry a tree with me everywhere I get stuck.
Yeah really, when are there ever trees around on a snowmobile trail?
Good up Dave...and yeah on paper these new sleds might be light.but nothing beats the old fan cooled phazer or even a old indy wedge ..ALOT lighter then todays new sleds.my sisteer bought a new cat ,even being a two stroke its a real tank to move, need help or one of these.
I like this product because there are so many uses for it. Tree across the trail....anything heavy.
Got one of these from a sailboat main sheet, I’m sure it could work the same for the off sailing season here in Canada !

Lol ! Your in trouble now ..... Good fun !
Could also use a coma long and a tow strap
Definitely. I have one in my pocket right now.
There usually is no tree to pull from unless ur treebangin up in mountains
Certainly not the case where I ride. Where do you ride?
Where do u get your saddle bags? I want them!
I'm terrified that my sled will break down and I will need to leave it at the Sno-park. I have a larger block and tackle and I realize I should at least be leaving this in my car.

hey buddy
great tool to have ,,I have heard things pop in my back also ,,,LOL
I need one of these ,,ride safe ,,LIKED ( thumbs up )
Cant hurt to have it but, for lifting ? on the trail ? out and about ? for pulling add 2 or more tow straps 30 foot at least, voice of experience here, really, I carry a come a long, slower but in a hole, 3 feet of snow or more.
How's that work in a deep ditch if no trees near by?
Hi David. Not very well I would assume, Unless there were another point of attachment. Thanks for watching.
Nice video Dave. The tool works great!
Thanks. I wasn’t sure when I first heard about it but I’m sure it will come in handy .
That's pretty slick.

No, never had that. Coil?
or cdi
my sleds would be like paper weights with that
Really enjoy your videos and the way you present them. You have any snow there? Not much in southern Ont.
Thank you so much! We have some, but a couple of warm days...hopefully winter returns Tuesday.....
Awesome tool Dave!
Thx EF
According to website, only $150 version is available.
Hi Norm, the website issue has been addressed. I see the $79 version up now.
From other videos I've seen, are you sure it's a good idea to attach to the front bumper?
Love watching your videos very helpful
Awesome. Thanks for watching!
Or...... ride elans.
or ride a free air jag 3000

Thanks Bryan. Did you watch my steering video? Sounds like darting
You can also message me on my Facebook page and we can see if we can figure it out between us. /myoldsled
My dad had an mxz 670 and fire started coming out of the exhaust pipe
Handy on those cold days.
What do you carry on your sled
Like tools
Amulti tool and the skidoo tool kit. First thing i ordered when i bought the sled

Would like to see it in real snow. The back end on the ground, front end plowing snow.
I would have loved the snow to do that, as would every other snowmobilers in Ontario :) regardless of how much snow it's in, it would still give you a 4:1 mechanical advantage. It would take more effort in snow, but four times more effort without it.

Two snowbunge products and a snowjack? You get stuck a lot ? :)
I've seen the snowjack. I guess if you were unable to lift the back of your sled it would help. A lot of people, with bad backs, shoulders etc.
Is this in CDN or USD currency. Looks like an American website?
Hi waterWalker, Yes, it's a US company...
Any new vids coming soon?
Yep, for sure. Winters coming....
I looked at the website, not exactly cheap.
Went on amazon and found many versions under $25.
Then I read the reviews, they're junk .
Ansoluty add to my tools.compact
That’s sweet
Hi Yeezus! Yes it does work well.
Mashed it.
I thought what the heck for 80 bucks get one and my check out before taxes $149.99
HI Paul, I understand the issue with the website has been corrected and the base version is available.
I use a snowmobile dolly to move my sled
Hi Gary...suspect a dolly would be a less than ideal way to get a sled unstuck or move it in deep snow...and where would you carry it when you're out on the trail ??
Thanks for watching and commenting!
